Border Prisoner: The Mad Boss Seduces Her Every Night
Chapter 148 is all fake.
Xu Jia stood there, watching her slender figure disappear into the night at the alley entrance.
He looked down at the tin box; the rusty lid was still open, and the contents inside gleamed with an old light in the moonlight.
He reached out, put the folded square piece of paper back into the box, and closed the lid.
……
Shi Luyu walked down the street late at night, the streetlights casting long shadows of her.
She didn't know where she was going; she just needed to move around, needed to get her body moving, in order to process the feeling of collapse that came from the inside out.
She walked through two streets, finally stopping under a streetlamp, took out her phone, and found a number in her contacts that she hadn't touched in a very long time.
The contact name for that number is: Jia Ye.
She saved the photos after the Blackwater Temple incident and never deleted them or sent any messages about them.
Her finger paused on the screen for a moment, then, with a mocking tone, typed a glaring line of text:
"Brother Jia, didn't you say you wanted my body? Why haven't you contacted me lately? Have you found someone new?"

"Or... are you actually too afraid to see me?"
She pressed send and held the phone in her palm.
She waited a long time. So long that the streetlights began to glow yellow, and the night wind blew her coat through.
Her fingers repeatedly rubbed against the phone case, her fingertips brushing against the edge of the plastic until they became hot.
The screen finally lit up.
The message had no opening remarks and was completely devoid of its usual assertiveness or nonchalant, joking tone.
There is only one address.
Old Chao Phraya River wharf, Warehouse No. 7.
There was no time.
It's as if that person will always be waiting there until she appears.
Shi Luyu glanced at the address, put her phone away, and turned to walk back.
She didn't go directly there; instead, she went back to her apartment, boiled a kettle of water, and carefully cooked herself a bowl of noodles.
"I'm going to fight for myself, I can't be without strength," she told herself.
A full stomach can give a person courage to some extent.
I added eggs and vegetables, sat at the table and ate it bite by bite. I washed the dishes, wiped the kitchen counter clean, changed into clean clothes, dark trousers, a neat black T-shirt, and tied my hair into a ponytail.
She stood in front of the mirror and glanced at herself. Her face was pale, her eyes were red, but her gaze was firm.
She went to fight; she wouldn't allow herself to be weak.
The wind is much stronger at the old Chao Phraya River pier than in the city.
The water was dark and murky, with only the navigation lights of cargo ships in the distance flashing in the night fog.
The iron gate to Warehouse No. 7 was half-open, and dim yellow light shone from inside, just like when I last came.
But this time was different. There were no guards, no Zhou Ji, and no layers of men in black. The warehouse was empty, with discarded wooden crates and oil drums piled in the corners. Only a lamp hung in the center of the warehouse, illuminating a folding chair.
A person sat in the chair. He wore a black robe and a black eagle mask. His long legs were crossed, and his posture was relaxed.
Hearing footsteps, he looked up, his eyes behind the mask falling on her.
Shi Luyu entered the warehouse, the door slightly ajar behind her. A night breeze blew in through the crack in the door, causing the lamp to flicker slightly, its light swaying back and forth between the two of them.
She stood about five steps away from him, neither too close nor too far, without making any move to back down, simply standing there and looking at him.
Jia Ye didn't move.
He leaned back in his chair, tilting his head to look at her. The two of them stared at each other through the swaying lamp.
"Welcome, my little bunny."
The man's voice came from behind the mask, calm and deep, without arrogance or sarcasm, unlike anything he had ever done before.
Shi Luyu looked at him.
She remembered those nights when he blindfolded her and pinned her to the bed, and how he whispered in her ear, using the identity of Xu Jia, "Brother will protect you."
She remembered the time he hugged her from behind in the kitchen, his chin resting on her shoulder, his breath warm and steady on her neck.
Every sound is his, every temperature is his.
But all of these are fake.
He's just a despicable, vicious thief!
"Didn't you want me?" Her voice was flat, gentle, and slightly amused; it sounded unfamiliar even to herself.
"I am coming."
Jia Ye leaned back in his chair, his eyes, hidden behind a mask, fixed on her without saying a word.
The only thing in the air was the flickering lamp, its shadow moving from her face to his mask and back again.
Shi Luyu took a step forward.
She walked towards him, not quickly, and stopped less than an arm's length away, looking down at him.
His mask gleamed coldly under the light, its sharp, upturned beak obscuring most of his face. She didn't give him another chance to speak.
She raised her hand quickly, so quickly that he didn't even have time to turn his head.
Or perhaps, he never intended to dodge at all this time.
She grabbed the edge of the mask and forcefully lifted it up!
The metal mask slipped from her fingertips and fell to the ground with a tinkling sound.
The light shone on his face.
He had delicate features, a straight nose, and slightly pursed lips.
He sat obediently in the folding chair, looking up at her without any obstruction.
Those eyes were so deep that she didn't know what words to use to describe them.
There was no guilt, panic, or surprise.
Completely open and completely unguarded.
Like a monster finally peeled from its layers of shell, exposed to the light, it is both evil and ugly, clean and fragile.
Shi Luyu's hand was still raised in mid-air, and her breath stopped for a moment.
She looked at that face, the face she had loved, hated, depended on, and feared.
She remembered the first time he called her "darling," when she was standing at the library entrance, sunlight falling on his shoulders.
It's all fake.
Everything is fake.
Her lips moved slightly, and a sound was forced out from her throat, accompanied by a very faint tremor:
"...Xu Yuanjia."
