Border Prisoner: The Mad Boss Seduces Her Every Night
Chapter 209 Sister-in-law
The three-wheeled motorcycle turned out of the back alley of the market and immediately picked up speed.
The old truck bed bounced along the road, and it was terribly stuffy under the canvas. Shi Luyu huddled inside, her nose filled with the mixed smell of plastic sheeting, engine oil, and that bag of pig offal, which made her brow twitch.
A man's nonchalant voice came from ahead, "Hold on tight."
"The shock absorption in this car is practically non-existent, just like my salary."
Shi Luyu ignored him. She lifted a corner of the canvas and glanced back.
The market signs and crowds were receding rapidly, and no vehicles were following them for the time being.
The man wearing sunglasses was holding the handlebars with one hand and adjusting the rearview mirror with the other. His floral shirt was billowing in the wind, and his back view didn't look like that of a reliable person at all.
Shi Luyu lifted the canvas slightly. "Who exactly are you?"
"Passengers, please be seated."
Shi Luyu became even more wary. "I didn't even say I wanted to ride in your car."
"Then you can jump now." The other person didn't seem to care.
The man tilted his head, his eyes obscured by sunglasses, but his tone was very sincere, "However, just so you know in advance, you'll have to pay for your own medical expenses."
Shi Luyu stared at him coldly: "Stop the car."
"It can't be stopped."
"?"
"There are people behind us."
She immediately turned around and saw a black SUV on the road at the foot of the mountain. It was still far away, but it kept following their direction.
Shi Luyu's expression changed slightly. "Are they Zhou Ji's men?"
"You're asking me?" the man clicked his tongue, "Which one pursued you, or me?"
"..."
He twisted the handlebars sharply, and the three-wheeled motorcycle veered from the main road into a dirt road beside it. The wheels rolled over puddles, splashing mud and water, and Shi Luyu nearly crashed into the edge of the cargo bed.
"Can you drive?" Shi Luyu was so frightened that she quickly grabbed the handle.
Yes.
"And you drive like that?"
"Technical fees apply." The man stretched out a hand without turning his head. "Five hundred for normal driving, one thousand for steady driving, and two thousand five hundred for shaking off the car behind."
Shi Luyu could hardly believe she'd heard correctly. "Are you trying to raise the price on the spot?"
"When is the best time to talk about money?" he said confidently. "When life is more valuable, of course."
Shi Luyu replied irritably, "I have no money."
"If you don't have money, you can keep track of your expenses."
Why should I give it to you?
"Because I just pulled you out from under Zhou Ji's nose."
Shi Luyu gripped the edge of the truck bed and said coldly, "Who sent you?"
The man paused for half a second, then said, "Fate."
Shi Luyu sneered, "Speak like a human being."
"To stand up for what is right when you see injustice."
"Rewrite."
"Overflowing with love."
Shi Luyu looked at the back of his head: "Stop the car, I'm getting out."
"No, no, no." The man finally sighed and slowed down slightly.
"My name is Sheng Kun." Sheng Kun turned around and glanced at her.
"Miss Shi, you must have a bad memory. You don't even remember me?"
Shi Luyu stared at him. Having been by Xu Yuanjia's side for so long, she no longer had even the most basic trust in people.
He was filled with suspicion: "Why did you come to save me? What is your purpose?"
The three-wheeled motorcycle lurched violently, and Sheng Kun immediately steadied the handlebars, saying in an exaggerated tone, "Don't talk nonsense."
"Last time, Jia almost broke my arm." He finally regained his composure and answered seriously, "It was you, sister-in-law, who saved me, don't you remember?"
Upon hearing him call her "sister-in-law," Shi Luyu frowned instinctively, remembering what had happened.
But she chose to tell the truth: "I didn't do this to save you."
Indeed, she already has such high moral standards; what use are truth, goodness, and beauty now? In order to survive, she can choose to do anything.
So when I proposed the bet with Xu Yuanjia, it was purely because I didn't want him to bleed in front of me.
"So you don't need to do that." Shi Luyu lowered her eyelashes, her voice softening slightly.
"Also, don't call me sister-in-law."
Just as Sheng Kun was about to say something, he noticed that the SUV behind him was getting closer and closer.
He glanced at the rearview mirror and finally stopped making sarcastic remarks.
He pulled an old cell phone out of his floral shirt pocket and tossed it to Shi Luyu, saying, "Sister-in-law, look at the map."
Shi Luyu frowned, "I already told you not to call me 'sister-in-law'..."
"They're catching up soon," Sheng Kun interrupted her.
Shi Luyu stopped arguing with him and looked down at her phone, where a route had already been marked on the screen.
The three-wheeled motorcycle is currently heading east along the dirt road at the foot of the mountain. There is a small bridge two kilometers ahead, which connects to three forks in the road.
Shi Luyu looked at it for a few seconds: "South."
"The town center is to the west, where there are many surveillance cameras. The road to the east leads back to the mountain, which I am familiar with. To the south, after crossing the river, there are farms and freight yards, making the traffic more complex."
Sheng Kun raised the corner of his lips slightly. "Sure, sister-in-law."
Shi Luyu looked up: "...You can shut up and start driving now."
"Alright, sit tight, sister-in-law." After saying that, Sheng Kun suddenly turned the three-wheeled motorcycle south.
Shi Luyu: "..."
The SUVs behind followed.
The bridge was narrow, allowing only one vehicle to pass at a time. Ahead, a farm vehicle loaded with sugarcane was parked, and the owner was squatting by the roadside repairing a tire.
Sheng Kun slammed on the brakes, muttering under his breath, "It's stuck in traffic."
Shi Luyu looked back and saw that the off-road vehicle was less than 500 meters away from them.
"Turn around," she decided immediately.
"It's too late." Sheng Kun frowned, not quite agreeing.
Shi Luyu: "Go past it."
Sheng Kun shook his head. "There's a river below."
Shi Luyu quickly surveyed her surroundings. There was a very narrow path beside the bridge, probably used by nearby farmers to push their motorcycles. The tricycle was a bit too wide, and there was a risk of it tipping over if it tried to cross it.
Sheng Kun saw it too.
He turned around: "Add more money."
"..." Shi Luyu really wanted to curse, "What time is it and you're still asking for more money?"
"Dangerous driving must be added."
"Go over there first, then we'll talk."
"That won't work; verbal promises aren't guaranteed."
Shi Luyu was amused by his words, "Sheng Kun."
"exist."
"If you keep talking nonsense, I'll go back right now and tell Xu Yuanjia to break all your arms and legs."
Sheng Kun clicked his tongue. "Your sister-in-law has quite a temper."
As he spoke, he suddenly twisted the handlebars, and the three-wheeled motorcycle sped onto the sidewalk, skimming the edge of the bridge.
One tire was almost suspended in the air, and the truck bed tilted violently. Shi Luyu clung tightly to the railing, her shoulder aching from the impact, but she gritted her teeth and remained silent.
Sheng Kun's expression finally turned serious. "Lean your body to the left."
"Press it again!"
Shi Luyu followed suit.
The tricycle wobbled along the sidewalk, even scraping off a layer of paint when it passed the sugarcane truck.
A few seconds later, the tire landed back on the flat road.
Sheng Kun let out a long sigh of relief. "See that?"
"This technology is definitely worth two thousand five hundred."
Before Shi Luyu could recover, she coldly replied, "At most two hundred and fifty."
That's a personal attack.
They had just crossed the bridge when the SUV behind them stopped.
The bridge was blocked by sugarcane trucks, forcing the passengers to get off.
Sheng Kun took the opportunity to drive his tricycle into the farm.
Dozens of transport trucks were parked inside, and workers were busy loading goods. Sheng Kun drove around in a winding path, finally stopping behind a tin warehouse.
"Get out of the car," he said.
Shi Luyu didn't move: "Where to?"
"transfer."
"Change to what?"
Sheng Kun lifted a tarpaulin to reveal an old pickup truck underneath. The door was dented, and there was a sign for a poultry feed company on the back.
Shi Luyu looked at it for a few seconds and said, "You've prepared quite thoroughly."
"In business, service is paramount," Sheng Kun said nonchalantly.
Shi Luyu's gaze fell on the back seat of the pickup truck, where three license plates were placed.
Sheng Kun followed her gaze and quickly covered her with the cloth.
Shi Luyu was too lazy to ask any more questions.
The two changed into the pickup truck, and Sheng Kun took out a large coat and a straw hat from under the seat and threw them to her.
"Put it on."
"What is this?"
"camouflage."
"It's so ugly," Shi Luyu couldn't help but say.
"Seriously, sister-in-law?" Sheng Kun almost laughed at her antics. "You're picking and choosing styles when you're running for your life?"
Shi Luyu glanced down at the jacket with the pesticide logo printed on it, her face full of disgust. "Nothing else?"
"Yes." Sheng Kun held out his hand. "Upgrade your clothes, one thousand."
"..." Shi Luyu started putting on her clothes without saying a word.
Ten minutes later, the pickup truck drove out from the other side of the farm.
Shi Luyu, wearing that ugly GG jacket with the hood pulled low, asked him, "Where to next?"
"Let's go to Chongling first," Sheng Kun replied quickly.
Shi Luyu thought for a moment, seemingly having never heard of this place, and then asked, "What kind of place is that?"
"A transit city between Tammai and the southern states."
A glimmer of hope flickered in her heart. "Is it safe there?"
Sheng Kun smiled lazily, "Sister-in-law, you only know one side of Jia Ye's power, not the other."
"Given the power of the Xu family, there is no place that is absolutely safe."
Her hopes were dashed by his cold water. Shi Luyu turned her head and glared at him fiercely: "What's the point of going then?"
Sheng Kun shook his head and said, "Let's try our luck."
……
Meanwhile, at the villa in the Taimai Mountains.
Afternoon light streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the study was so quiet that there wasn't a sound.
He was still dressed neatly and cleanly, his clothes were perfectly pressed, and there wasn't a single wrinkle on his cuffs. But his usually calm face was colder than usual, his jawline was taut, and there was a lingering somber look in his eyes.
Footsteps came from outside the door; it was Zhou Ji who pushed the door open and came in.
His clothes were still covered in dust from the mountain road, his expression remained restrained, but there was a clear sense of heaviness in his eyes.
He stopped in front of the desk. "Sorry, Jia-ye."
Xu Yuanjia did not look up.
Zhou Ji whispered, "We didn't keep an eye on her, and Miss Shi ran away."
