Border Prisoner: The Mad Boss Seduces Her Every Night

Chapter 23 A Greeting from My Childhood Friend

"Jia, Brother Jiajia..."

Shi Luyu stood frozen on the wet floor tiles, frantically hugging herself, her face flushed red all the way to her ears, her voice trembling.

"Get out of here!"

The bathroom ceiling light was a cold, white light, the steam hadn't dissipated, and hot water dripped down her hair. She curled up on the floor in a disheveled state, like a young fox that hadn't had time to hide its tail.

Xu Yuanjia stood at the door, looking at her with droopy eyelids, but his expression was very calm.

He had no intention of leaving at all. He bent down, stretched out his long arm, and pulled a clean bath towel from the shelf next to him, wrapping her up completely.

Before she could even react, he picked her up.

Shi Luyu only had time to let out a soft gasp before her fingers instinctively grabbed the front of his shirt.

His chest was warm, a stark contrast to the damp, cold bathroom. Shi Luyu's mind was in turmoil, but her ears felt even hotter.

Xu Yuanjia carried her out of the bathroom, went straight to the living room, and put her on the sofa.

To be precise, it wasn't placed on the sofa.

It was placed on his lap.

Shi Luyu was stunned for a moment, then struggled to get down, but was afraid of loosening the towel, so she could only shrink into his arms, her face burning hot.

Xu Yuanjia held her waist with one hand and casually placed the other hand on her knee, looking down at her.

"Where are you hurt?" he asked, bending down to check, his fingers already touching the edge of her towel.

Shi Luyu was both surprised and embarrassed. She quickly clutched her bath towel tightly, her voice barely audible: "No...no, I didn't hurt myself anywhere..."

She herself didn't have much confidence in what she said.

Xu Yuanjia glanced at her but didn't expose her. Instead, his gaze fell down and lingered on her calves and ankles.

The fall just now left a bruise on the outside of my ankle.

He didn't say anything, but simply reached out and grabbed her ankle.

Shi Luyu trembled slightly, instinctively trying to pull back, but he held her tightly. The man's palm was cold, white, and slender, and when it enveloped her slender ankle, it carried an irresistible sense of control.

"It hasn't been that long since I last saw you," he said softly, his tone casual, complaining about his most troublesome little thing, "that you've gotten hurt again."

After saying that, he took the bruise-reducing ointment, squeezed it into his palm, rubbed it slightly with his fingertips, and waited for the ointment to warm up a bit in his palm before slowly pressing it onto his skin.

The ointment was cool yet warm. When it first touched her, Shi Luyu recoiled in pain. But Xu Yuanjia had a strong grip and massaged slowly, so the pain gradually transformed into a different kind of indescribable tingling sensation.

She lowered her head, not daring to look.

Only a few warm lights were on in the living room. Outside, waves crashed against the windows, and the rain continued to fall. The entire villa was empty and quiet, save for the faint sound of his fingers rubbing ointment and slowly smoothing out the bruises.

It feels so weird.

They're too close.

Yet his expression remained calm, as if he were simply taking care of a child who was prone to bumps and bruises, or a beautiful piece of porcelain that was kept in his own home and was not to be broken.

After treating her ankle, Xu Yuanjia stood up, turned around, grabbed one of his own white shirts from the side, and tossed it into her arms: "Change into this."

Shi Luyu hugged the shirt and looked up at him.

The shirt still carried a faint, cool fragrance; it was clean and relaxed, clearly his signature scent.

She responded softly, "...Oh."

When she came out of the guest room wrapped in a bath towel and changed her clothes, the white shirt was excessively large, with the hem hanging down to her thighs and the sleeves being too long, making her look even more petite.

Xu Yuanjia leaned against the sofa, looked up at her, said nothing, his gaze lingered for a second indifferently, and then looked away.

Just then, Shi Luyu's stomach let out a loud "groan".

Xu Yuanjia raised an eyebrow, finally amused by her: "Hungry?"

"What would you like to eat? I'll have someone deliver it."

Shi Luyu lowered her head and touched her stomach, feeling a little embarrassed. She thought about how she had messed things up tonight, and how this person had cleaned up the mess for her. Despite her awkwardness, she felt a tenderness in her heart.

She stopped his hand as he reached for his phone: "Don't order food. Do we have any groceries at home?"

Xu Yuanjia looked down at her hand, which was pressed against the back of his hand. It was fair and soft, and her fingertips still carried the dampness of her recent shower. He didn't pull away, but pondered for a moment: "There should be some food left by the servants."

He slowly looked at her: "What, are you going to cook for me?"

Shi Luyu pursed her lips, avoiding his gaze, and whispered:

"Didn't I say I'd repay you...?"

……

Half an hour later, the kitchen lights were warm.

The rainy night and the waves were kept out of the glass, and inside the house, there was only the slight sizzling sound of ingredients being put into the pot and the bubbling sound of soup.

Shi Luyu casually tied her long hair up, stood in front of the kitchen counter, bent down to chop vegetables, flip the pan, and taste the flavors.

Her movements weren't particularly skillful, but she didn't seem flustered either.

Xu Yuanjia leaned against the kitchen doorway, his shoulders and back casually resting on the door frame, his hands tucked into his pockets, watching her busy herself in the warm yellow light.

Outside, the wind and rain raged, but inside, it was quiet to the point of being gentle.

After watching for a while, Xu Yuanjia suddenly spoke up: "You're practically a rich young lady, and you can even cook?"

Shi Luyu continued cooking, ladling out the freshly stir-fried dishes, her voice clear and gentle: "My parents are usually busy with their business, so I cook for them whenever I have time."

As she spoke, her eyes crinkled as she imagined a warm scene of the three of them together:

"It makes me happy to be able to cook for the people I love."

"……happiness?"

Xu Yuanjia repeated the two words, his tone devoid of emotion.

"Yes." Shi Luyu stirred the soup in the pot and continued, "Isn't Jiajia's brother very happy? I remember that his aunt and uncle were very loving."

The kitchen remained quiet for a while.

Xu Yuanjia suddenly chuckled.

But there was no real warmth in that smile; instead, it carried an unfathomable sarcasm.

Shi Luyu didn't hear clearly and was about to turn around and ask, "What's wrong, brother?" when suddenly her waist tightened.

The man's strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind. His chin was slightly lowered, and his breath fell on the back of her ear and the side of her neck, so warm that she almost dropped the soup spoon in her hand.

"Then can I assume..." His voice was deep and magnetic, slowly whispering in her ear, "that you're happy cooking for me now?"

Shi Luyu felt a tingling sensation on the back of her neck from his words, and stammered, avoiding the question: "Brother Jiajia, stop fooling around..."

She shrank back a little, trying to create some distance, her voice a little unsteady: "You, you help me peel the garlic."

"No." Xu Yuanjia hugged her even tighter, deliberately preventing her from escaping.

"I don't eat onions, ginger, garlic, or cilantro."

Shi Luyu: "..."

She finally couldn't help but turn her head and glare at him, her face flushed as she protested softly, "Brother, you weren't this picky about food when you were little."

"I don't care," Xu Yuanjia replied lazily, his hand still clasped around her waist.

"From now on, you must remember my tastes."

Shi Luyu's heart was pounding so hard that she couldn't tell whether he was talking about eating or something else.

Fortunately, he didn't hold her for long before slowly letting go, as if he really just had a sudden urge to tease her.

……

By the time the food was served, the rain had subsided.

Three dishes and a soup, very home-style, steaming hot on the large dining table, which ironically made this excessively cold villa seem a bit more welcoming.

Xu Yuanjia sat in the main seat, and he looked unusually good.

He picked up his chopsticks, slowly took a bite of the Wagyu beef cubes she had made, and after tasting them, he neither said they were good nor bad, but simply took another bite.

Shi Luyu had just taken off her apron and sat down opposite him, secretly relieved, when her phone on the table suddenly vibrated.

The above is a text message sent from an unknown number.
