A Guide to Raising a Little Human [Vampire Clan]
Chapter 81 Illness
Alpha originally thought that Chu Lin was just acting on impulse.
He's so smart; if we explain and communicate properly, he should be able to figure it out.
But for some reason, Chu Lin was in a very low mood after waking up.
He began refusing to eat, drink, or speak, sitting blankly on the balcony, doing nothing. It was as if he had returned to the time when he was first taken in, a withdrawn and lonely state.
Whenever Alpha says, "Alin, come and eat something," the little human will shake his head.
Alpha squatted down beside him and apologized, "Baby... don't be angry, okay? I was wrong. I shouldn't have said those things. I shouldn't have insulted your race and looked down on your kind."
No, you're not wrong.
After Chu Lin finished speaking, he stood up and walked past Alpha.
He somehow found the old human dwelling, lay down inside, hugged his rabbit plushie, and fell asleep.
Alpha would sometimes stand by and watch him, and sometimes try to get him to sleep in the bed. Most of the time, he would just throw away the cold food all by himself, then cook a different dish and tempt him with snacks.
On the third day, Alpha finally couldn't hold back any longer. He grabbed Chu Lin's wrist, took him to the restaurant, and forcefully pressed him into a chair.
"You must eat something, or I'll..."
"Otherwise, you'll have to give me an IV drip, a glucose drip, right?"
Chu Lin looked at him blankly: "Unless you tie my hands and feet too, I'll pull them off myself."
Alpha remained silent for a moment.
Do you think this is torturing me, or torturing yourself?
Upon hearing this, Chu Lin's eyelashes fluttered as if trembling.
He lowered his eyes, and tears began to fall again without warning. His eyelids were red, making his already pale face look even more pitiful.
"I'm sorry, I don't want to torment you."
Alpha was genuinely worried that he would dehydrate himself if he kept crying, so she lowered her voice: "I'm not blaming you, baby, please don't cry, okay?"
Chu Lin wiped away her tears with her hand: "You don't need to worry about me..."
Alpha retorted, "Why shouldn't I care about you? You've almost died so many times, and I'm the one who managed to bring you back to life. I gave you shelter, food, and medical care, and I've taken care of you for so long. And you just casually say, 'Don't worry about me, let me die,' and I'm supposed to obediently listen to you? What about me? What about your boyfriend? What am I supposed to do... wait for you to starve to death and then stare blankly at your corpse?"
Alpha tapped Chu Lin's forehead with her finger: "You're so mean."
Chu Lin leaned back slightly, rubbing his forehead, and said, "I'm sorry for making you spend so much money... If all else fails, you can sell me; maybe you can get some money back."
"..."
Alpha was genuinely angry.
"I'm asking you, do you not like me at all? Did you only say those things before to make me feel guilty so you could fulfill your demands and make it easier for you to escape?"
Chu Lin shook his head, denying it, "I like you. I think you're the best person in the world to me... vampire."
Alpha changed the subject: "So you don't believe I like you?"
Chu Lin opened his mouth, but hesitated to speak.
Alpha then spoke for him.
"Is it because you think that because I'm in a high position, controlling everything about you, and that I already possess you, I'm not worthy of liking you?"
Chu Lin: "This is different, I was the one being played..."
Alpha interrupted, "How is it different? We look alike, we think alike. Since you like me, what's so strange about me liking you?"
Perhaps fearing that the conversation would continue, Chu Lin tried to get up and leave, but Alpha pressed him back into his seat.
"Come back, listen to me..."
"I've never cared about anyone this much before. From when you first came here until now, almost half a year has passed, and I've watched you get better and better, healthier and more lively. Even if you wanted to run away, I could understand you, and I didn't really punish you. I tried my best to satisfy whatever you wanted..."
"But why are you still rejecting me and refusing to believe me?"
Chu Lin noticed that Alpha's eyes seemed to be glistening with tears, and she panicked a little: "I didn't. I just... I just wanted you to drink my blood... and I didn't ask you to only drink my blood, I just..."
Alpha said slowly, "I know you're not trying to convince yourself that I'm innocent. You're just trying to brainwash yourself into believing that you're also suffering, that you're also being oppressed, and that you haven't betrayed your kind by liking a vampire."
"But harming yourself doesn't actually help your fellow human beings at all... You could try to fight for human rights, push for legislation, or help those who are abandoned or sick. These are all much more useful than what you're doing now."
"Even if you insist on believing that you need to endure pain to lessen the guilt of being raised by vampires... you've already experienced it. When I found you, you were in far worse shape than most humans I've ever seen. Cheer up a little, and no one will blame you for it..."
Alpha reached out and touched his face, his thumb tracing the corner of his eye.
"How about we get something to eat? Don't be angry anymore..."
Chu Lin stared at him blankly, and finally nodded.
"sorry……"
Alpha took a napkin and wiped away his tears: "It's okay, I'll never blame you, it's okay."
After a while, Alpha went to the kitchen and ladled out a bowl of rice porridge that had been cooked into a paste. He sat down next to Chu Lin and personally fed Chu Lin the porridge with a spoon.
"Try it, and if it's not good, I'll make it again."
Chu Lin opened his mouth and took a bite with the spoon.
Alpha: "Would you like some sugar? I heard it tastes better that way..."
Chu Lin shook his head and slowly chewed his food.
Alpha felt a sense of satisfaction watching him eat, so she fed him spoonful by spoonful, wanting to feed him more while he was still willing to eat.
After feeding Chu Lin the last spoonful, Alpha couldn't help but pinch Chu Lin's cheek.
"Our Ah Lin is the most obedient..."
Chu Lin suddenly reached out and pulled Alpha's hand.
"My name is Chu Lin."
Chu Lin wrote his name in his palm: "Chu, Lin".
"Don't call me Ah Lin anymore... That's what they call me, and I don't like it."
Alpha paused for a moment, then, somewhat disappointed, said, "You really are... This will make me very sad..."
Chu Lin lowered his head somewhat guiltily.
"It's okay, it's not too late to tell me now."
Alpha patted Chu Lin's head, got up to clear the tableware, and Chu Lin stood up with him.
However, just as Alpha turned around, a muffled thud was heard...
Alpha turned his head and saw Chu Lin lying unconscious on the ground.
