Pure Love Imprisoned: My Ex-Boyfriend, Who Blamed Me, Imprisoned Me in Love
Chapter 117 Let's go find them
Lin Mian asked her to sit on the sofa: "Are you on your period, or do you have appendicitis? Have you ever had your appendix removed?"
Meili pressed her lower abdomen, her expression suddenly turning strange—a mixture of shock, disbelief, and fear. She slowly released her hand from her stomach and murmured, "It's not my stomach that hurts, it's my sister."
Her pain lasted only a moment; it wasn't that she was in pain, but that she sensed her sister's pain.
Lin Mian was taken aback.
Meili immediately got up, took out her phone from her bag, and sent a message to her sister.
Lin Mian, sitting next to him, couldn't help but open her phone. She had sent He Duoye a message that morning, but hadn't received a reply yet.
Another loud clap of thunder came from outside, and Lin Mian's heart started racing instantly. The unease that had been building up over the past few days all erupted at this moment.
The rain started pouring down.
The spilled soup on the coffee table dripped onto the carpet and soaked a large area of the floor.
After a long while, Lin Mian got up, rolled up the carpet, took it out and threw it away.
When she returned, she tidied the floor and coffee table and asked Meili, "Did your sister reply to you?"
Meili shook her head.
Lin Mian helped herself up from the coffee table, sat down on the sofa, and said, "Then let's wait an hour and ask again."
Less than an hour later, Mary received a reply from her sister, who said she was fine, not injured, and her stomach didn't hurt, but she didn't accept Mary's video call request.
Lin Mian's phone vibrated at that moment; it was He Duoye replying to her message: "Baby, I'm busy."
Lin Mian sent a video call, and unsurprisingly, it was rejected.
After she returned, she rarely video chatted with He Duoye because He Duoye was always busy with something. Lin Mian was also worried that the video might show something inappropriate, which could lead to her account being banned or something, so she quickly gave up video communication.
After staring at the screen for a few seconds, Lin Mian typed: "How many more days are you going to be busy?"
He Duoye replied after a while, "Soon."
Another vague answer like this.
The heavy rain had turned into a drizzle at some point, and with the window open, the damp night wind blew in.
Lin Mian and Mei Li both sat on the sofa. Neither of them went back to their room; they stayed in the living room all night.
The next day was the weekend, and neither of them went out; they stayed there until dark.
Meili had already returned to her bedroom. The door was open, and Lin Mian peeked in. Meili was lying on the bed, already asleep.
Lin Mian didn't go back to her room. She lay on the sofa and looked at her phone. He Duoye had replied to her message today, although it was still very short. The screen was locked. Lin Mian closed her eyes and forced herself to sleep and rest.
After an unknown amount of time, Lin Mian vaguely heard the sound of rain outside; it was raining again.
She remembered the heavy rain in the forest, the time she and He Duoye cuddled together in the cabin, and He Duoye's blood-soaked wounds.
Lin Mian opened her eyes, sat up, and looked towards the balcony.
Night had fallen, the sky was pitch black, and only a few lights were on in the building across the street, vaguely revealing the outline of the rain.
Lin Mian stared at the swaying raindrops for most of the night.
She collapsed onto the sofa, unaware of when she drifted off to sleep.
"Lin Mian." The moment Mei Li's voice rang out, Lin Mian woke up with a start.
She opened her eyes and saw Meili with her hair disheveled. The dim nightlight couldn't hide the paleness on her face. She grabbed Lin Mian's arm, her voice trembling with tension: "My heart is pounding."
Lin Mian held Mei Li's hand, wanting to say something, but when she opened her mouth, she couldn't say anything.
Her heart started racing, and a feeling of panic and pressure spread through her.
Meili's expression was chaotic and panicked: "Something must have happened, something very serious. They're keeping it from us, but something must have happened. I can tell."
She pressed her hand to her chest.
"I was just falling asleep, and my heart was pounding. Then I dreamt that I was shot. There were lots of people around me, flames everywhere, and a cacophony of gunfire."
"I also saw blood, blood that looked bright red in the firelight." Mei Li grabbed Lin Mian's hand again. "I'm really panicking."
Her appearance also made Lin Mian panic, and one terrible scene after another kept popping into her mind.
But she needs to calm down.
Lin Mian checked her phone and, finding no new messages, called He Duoye.
Shut down.
Her heart pounded harder, sinking heavily downwards, making Lin Mian feel suffocated.
"Let's go back," Mei suddenly said. "Let's go back to them. No matter what happens, we should stay together."
Lin Mian's heart, which had been plummeting, began to pound wildly, each beat a violent and panicked thud against her chest.
She locked her phone and heard her own impulsive voice say, "Okay, let's go back and find them."
The two quickly changed their clothes, took no luggage, only their phones and IDs, went downstairs, and took a taxi to the airport.
They arrived at the airport at 11:30 p.m., which was too late. The earliest flight they could buy tickets for was at 6:00 a.m.
No matter how anxious or unwilling they were, they could only buy their tickets and sit helplessly in the waiting area.
The airport wasn't crowded at midnight. The lights were bright, but the hall was empty, with only a noisy echo.
Opposite the seats is a glass wall, and outside the wall is the helipad.
Lin Mian stared blankly at the parked planes. Her panicked heartbeat had long since calmed down, leaving only a sense of unease and bewilderment that she could neither vent nor soothe.
She recalled once again her escape through the forest with He Duoye... the firelight, the surrounding people, the dense gunfire, and the scarlet blood.
Just like the dream that Mei Li described.
What exactly is He Duoye busy with right now?
Will it be like what Mary dreamed of? Or will it be even more serious than Mary's dream?
do not know.
Lin Mian knew nothing.
There was nothing they could do but sit in the airport, staring blankly at the rows of planes that couldn't take off.
Unconsciously, Lin Mian repeatedly picked at the skin on the back of her hand, not even feeling it when it broke.
Lost in thought, she heard a sound, and after a few seconds, she belatedly realized that it was Mei Li crying.
She sat in the chair, her arms pressed against her knees, her body hunched over, and she cried out.
Lin Mian patted her back, hugged her comfortingly, and said in a hoarse voice, "Seeing you like this makes me want to cry too."
Meili turned around and hugged Lin Mian, crying, "I'm still so panicked, getting more and more panicked, but I can't tell... I can't tell if it's me who's panicking or my sister who's panicking."
"I'm so scared." Meili leaned on Lin Mian's shoulder. "I'm so afraid something will happen to her."
Lin Mian looked at her slightly trembling fingertips.
She was so scared that she didn't even dare to cry.
She was afraid that if she cried, she would lose control of her emotions and become a breakdown, sitting on the ground and wailing.
Even so, she couldn't help but recall what Zhang Zhiwen had said that day.
Beset by troubles, unable to collect the body.
Lin Mian closed her eyes, trembling with fear.
