Pure Love Imprisoned: My Ex-Boyfriend, Who Blamed Me, Imprisoned Me in Love
Chapter 39 I'll lend you a hug for now
It started raining again that night, the wind was blowing very hard, the dark clouds were heavy, and there was a faint rumble of thunder in the distance.
Lin Mian glanced at the weather forecast; sure enough, there would be thunderstorms tonight.
Soon, a fierce storm began. Lin Mian quickly closed the sliding door to the terrace, which was rattling in the wind. Looking out, she saw the flowers and trees in the yard bending over in the strong wind.
As she looked at it, she suddenly remembered things from the past.
He Duoye's house was really dilapidated. Even though it had been repaired, it would still leak if there was a heavy rain.
So ever since she learned that He Duoye's house leaked when it rained, Lin Mian would worry about the situation at He Duoye's house every time it rained.
At that time, she did not know that He Duoye was not actually poor. She thought he just couldn't afford furniture and household items, so the items in his home were not only few in number, but most of them were also unique.
During the downpour, He Duoye's bed was right next to the leak. The basins in his house weren't big enough to catch the rain, so he had to hold an umbrella over the bed.
Summer brings frequent torrential rains, and that day saw an unusual thunderstorm.
The sky turned pitch black in an instant at dusk, a strong wind blew, lightning cleaved through the dark clouds, and thunder that almost shook the heavens and the earth crashed down.
Lin Mian stood behind the bedroom window, looking at the "apocalyptic" scene outside, feeling both afraid and worried that He Duoye's house would be flooded.
A thick, bright bolt of lightning struck, and Lin Mian tensed up instantly. She was afraid that such a huge clap of thunder could shake one's soul out of their body.
The rain poured down, the windows trembled slightly, and the echoes of thunder reverberated in the empty house.
Lin Mian took out her phone and sent a message to He Duoye to distract herself.
She asked He Duoye how his family was doing.
No reply received.
Lin Mian hesitated for a moment, and after another huge clap of thunder, she picked up her umbrella and ran out of the empty house where the thunder could still echo.
Bright flashes of lightning lit up the road, and the impending thunder startled Lin Mian so much that she ran as fast as she could, ignoring the fact that her umbrella had been blown inside out, and braved the downpour to reach He Duoye's house.
The courtyard was already covered with a layer of rainwater, and the stone slabs were slippery. Lin Mian was running too fast and slipped and fell.
The umbrella flew off, and the heavy rain soaked her instantly.
As she struggled to get up, supporting herself on her arms, He Duoye ran out of the house, grabbed her arm with his strong fingers, lifted her up, and held her in his arms as they ran back into the house together.
The rain was so heavy that they were both soaked to the bone.
Once inside, He Duoye closed the door to block the howling wind.
He frowned and asked her, "Where did you hurt yourself?"
Lin Mian looked at her dirty hands and shook her head: "I don't think so, it's just... my clothes are wet."
The house was leaking, and water dripped from the roof onto Lin Mian's shoulder.
He Duoye pulled her to a spot where it wasn't raining, then gave her the only umbrella he had: "Stay here."
He went into the inner room.
The thunder continued outside, and the lights in He Duoye's house were inexplicably broken, leaving it dark. Lin Mian was terrified and grabbed his arm, asking, "Where are you going?"
"I'll get you a clean set of clothes." He glanced at Lin Mian, then looked away. "You're soaking wet."
Lin Mian looked down and realized that her clothes were somewhat see-through after being wet, and the shape and outline of her underwear were clearly visible. She quickly released He Duoye's hand and covered herself.
By the time Lin Mian changed her clothes, He Duoye's house was already leaking like a waterfall.
The wind outside seemed to be blowing so hard it looked like it would carry the old roof away.
A layer of water had accumulated on the ground. Lin Mian, holding an umbrella and standing barefoot on a stool, watched He Duoye wade through the water, packing up his belongings and putting them into the cabinet.
His hair was so wet it was dripping, and his black T-shirt clung to his body, highlighting the boy's broad shoulders and thin waist.
Lin Mian couldn't help but stare at her shoulders, back, slender waist, and arms with beautiful muscle lines, dripping with water droplets.
After packing everything away, He Duoye moved the bed to a corner where it leaked the least.
Then he came over and carried Lin Mian to the bed.
The blankets and mattress were wet, but the bed frame underneath was dry enough for Lin Mian, who was holding an umbrella, to sit on.
Lin Mian urged him to change his clothes quickly, otherwise he would find out that she had been secretly admiring his good looks.
He Duoye didn't care. He raised his hand and took off his shirt, revealing his still thin, youthful chest and six-pack abs.
Lin Mian was caught off guard and saw it clearly, her face instantly turning bright red.
She turned her head away and shouted, "What are you doing!"
He Duoye said, "Change your clothes."
Lin Mian kept her head down, not watching He Duoye change his pants. After he finished, she raised her umbrella and invited He Duoye to come and take shelter from the rain next to her.
The downpour didn't stop anytime soon, so the two of them huddled together under the umbrella, shoulder to shoulder, waiting for the rain to pass.
The water inside the house had gotten deeper, shimmering and rippling.
He Duoye suddenly laughed, his body trembling, causing Lin Mian to tremble as well.
"What are you laughing at?" she asked, puzzled, glancing down to see if she had made a fool of herself again.
Fortunately, apart from her wet hair, she looked quite presentable.
He Duoye leaned his head against the wall, tilting it slightly back. His profile was clearly defined, and his Adam's apple bobbed gently as he spoke: "Laughing at you, instead of staying at home, you insisted on coming over and getting soaked in the rain with me."
He pointed to the puddles below: "Now we're all Robinson Crusoe."
Lin Mian: "..."
A sudden clap of thunder made Lin Mian shudder, and she silently tensed up.
He Duoye noticed and turned to ask, "Are you scared?"
Lin Mian, concerned for his image, said, "It's just that the thunder was too loud; I usually can't hear it."
He Duoye didn't expose her, but simply raised his arm: "Come on, I'll lend you my arm for a while."
Lin Mian pushed it away: "Who wants it?"
He Duoye seized her hand, his hot palm pressed against her wrist, and then against her palm, until their fingers were intertwined.
Lin Mian's heart was racing, and she didn't push him away again.
The torrential rain continued to fall, its pattering sound filling the surroundings.
They were very close together, and Lin Mian could clearly feel He Duoye's high body temperature and the scent of pheromones on his body, mixed with the dampness of the rain.
It has a strangely pleasant smell.
Lin Mian sniffed.
He Duoye asked her, "Have you caught a cold?"
"No," Lin Mian quickly denied.
But her gaze couldn't help but fall on He Duoye.
He always wore a black T-shirt, and this was no exception, with a small dog's head printed on the chest. Lin Mian stared at it for a while, her gaze slowly moving upwards, landing on his still-damp collarbone, his neck…
Finally, there was He Duoye's eyes.
He was looking at her too.
The moment their eyes met, Lin Mian felt as if she had been electrocuted; her eyelashes trembled, but she did not look away.
She saw He Duoye slowly lower his head and approach her.
Lin Mian closed her eyes.
On this leaky, rainy day, she and He Duoye shared their first kiss.
"Boom—" A clap of thunder pulled Lin Mian back to reality.
She tensed up, preparing to go to bed early.
As I turned around, the bedroom door clicked open, and there was He Duoye.
