Pure Love Imprisoned: My Ex-Boyfriend, Who Blamed Me, Imprisoned Me in Love
Chapter 69 The Little Rabbit Dares Not Actually Fire the Gun
Lin Mian fell directly into the elevator. Her back hit the person behind her. It was a very tall and strong woman who grabbed Lin Mian and tried to press her against the elevator wall.
Lin Mian had been caught like this at the club before. Since then, she often secretly reviewed and summarized her experience, thinking about how she should deal with it so as not to appear weak if she encountered it again.
So when they actually met again, she almost immediately grabbed the woman's arm and slammed her head back hard.
With a thud, she felt a sharp pain in the back of her head.
The woman behind her was also badly injured, and her strength immediately gave way.
Lin Mian ran towards the elevator wall, but was too late. The elevator doors closed automatically and slowly ascended. Lin Mian pressed her back against the elevator door, watching the woman warily.
The other person had short hair, was tall and muscular, and wore a beautiful dress. He looked like an ordinary hotel guest, but his face was expressionless, exuding a cold and gloomy aura.
She wiped away the blood below her nose; Lin Mian had just smashed her nose bridge.
"Who are you?" Lin Mian asked, trying to move closer to the elevator button.
The woman didn't speak, but simply pulled a syringe from her pocket. Seeing this, Lin Mian's alarm bells went off, and she immediately pulled something out herself.
The muzzle of the pocket pistol was pointed at the woman's face.
The appearance of the gun finally brought a look to the woman's face. She paused in surprise, then, as if she thought that Lin Mian, this little white rabbit, wouldn't dare to actually shoot, she gripped the syringe and continued to approach Lin Mian.
Lin Mian pulled the trigger, easier and faster than she had expected. She didn't know how many shots she fired, or whether she hit anything.
The elevator was cramped, and the woman reached him in just a few steps. She grabbed Lin Mian's arm and slammed him against the wall with tremendous force.
He raised the syringe in his hand and aimed it at Lin Mian. Lin Mian instinctively struggled and pushed him away.
Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the woman had been shot twice, and large patches of blood were spreading across her abdomen and shoulder.
She clutched her stomach and knelt on the ground, but her expression remained fierce as she stared intently at Lin Mian.
Lin Mian was afraid that she would jump up like a zombie, so she frantically pressed the elevator buttons. As soon as the doors opened, she rushed out.
The corridor outside was quiet. Lin Mian didn't stop to take a closer look, not knowing which floor this was. Her thoughts were racing faster than ever before.
We need to find He Duoye and meet up.
Finding the fire escape, Lin Mian ran frantically through the stairwell.
As she ran, a thought suddenly popped into her mind—could He Duoye be running up here looking for her too, and the two of them just miss each other like that?
Could I really be that unlucky...?
As Lin Mian was thinking, she heard footsteps coming from downstairs. She grabbed the handrail and looked down to see He Duoye running upstairs.
"He Duoye," Lin Mian called out.
He Duoye moved very quickly, taking several steps in one stride and arriving in front of him in the blink of an eye.
He grabbed Lin Mian's shoulders and his first question was, "Are you hurt?"
Lin Mian immediately shook her head. Only then did fear and panic belatedly erupt. Her voice trembled slightly: "I fired, and hit someone... There was a lot of blood on her stomach."
He Duoye didn't care about anyone else's life or death. He then asked Lin Mian, "Were you injected with anything?"
Lin Mian shook her head: "No."
He Duoye seemed to relax only then. He pulled Lin Mian into his arms and suddenly said, "That's how my mother got addicted to drugs."
Lin Mian was taken aback.
He Duoye pressed his chin tightly against Lin Mian's head: "He used this method to keep my mother and me under his control."
He Duoye's mother was a contradictory person; she had backbone, yet lacked it. She gave birth to He Duoye alone, raised him single-handedly with pride, and yet resented He Duoye for being a burden to her due to the pressures of life.
When she finally couldn't bear it anymore and wanted to take her son to live with Mr. He, she was coldly turned away. It wasn't until she was driven to desperation by debt collectors and was preparing to sell her eight-year-old son for money that Mr. He took her back.
Even in such a depraved and impoverished state, she never considered using drugs.
It was He's father's men who held her down and gave her the injection.
This thing completely changed her mother's personality, and from then on she lived like a puppet whose mind was controlled.
From that moment on, He Duoye was thinking about escaping and destroying the He family, even though he wasn't even ten years old then. It was also because of his excessive intelligence and unpredictability that he was sent back to China.
That should be considered a rare act of kindness from He's father; he didn't destroy or kill him, but simply sent him away and left his mother behind.
"Then we need to get back quickly," Lin Mian said in his arms. "I was in such a hurry just now that I think I dropped the gun you gave me in the elevator."
She must have loosened her grip while struggling against the wall; she was too tense to realize it at the time.
Lin Mian said thankfully, "Luckily I brought a gun today, otherwise you would be finished. The next time we meet, your father will yell at you to kneel down as a rebellious son. And I will just be standing by, repeating like a broken record... no, no... just like in the TV dramas."
He Duoye chuckled.
He ruffled Lin Mian's hair, but Lin Mian pulled her hand away, saying, "My hair is messy enough."
She smoothed her hair and asked, "Who was that tattooed man just now?"
"Uncle Kang Nuo's godson," He Duoye cursed, clearly annoyed and full of personal emotion, "a complete idiot."
Lin Mian thought to himself, but he looked like a really good fighter, like the kind of villain in a movie that it would take Kuku more than ten minutes to defeat the protagonist.
The two returned to the elevator, but there was no one inside. Lin Mian's gun was also gone, leaving only a pool of blood on the floor.
Wen Ya was standing nearby. She had received an urgent notification and immediately rushed over with her people, but they were still a step too late.
"That person ran away," Wenya said. "I just checked the surveillance footage and saw that she went to the parking lot and was picked up by a car."
He Duoye's expression remained displeased, his face cold: "Your hotel needs serious renovations."
Wen Ya looked apologetic: "It was indeed our inadequate security."
She looked at Lin Mian with concern: "Miss Lin, are you alright? Were you frightened?"
Lin Mian shook her head. She was indeed frightened, especially after realizing that she had shot and injured someone. But after seeing how nervous and scared He Duoye was, she was not so scared anymore.
Wen Ya appeared to breathe a sigh of relief, but she didn't seem surprised, as if she knew Lin Mian wouldn't be easily frightened.
"That's good, otherwise I would have been in trouble."
As they were talking, He Duoye's cell phone rang, and the bright screen showed an unnamed number.
It was He's father.
He Duoye's expression darkened. He walked a few steps away and answered the phone.
"I heard you and your girlfriend had an accident at the hotel. I need to clarify, it wasn't my doing." Mr. He's voice was calm and gloomy, as if it really had nothing to do with him.
"However, I think you probably won't believe it."
He Duoye didn't speak. They were father and son. Although there was no affection between them, some things in their blood were the same, such as the hypocrisy that came naturally to them.
Mr. He said, "We have news about your brother. I was hoping you could bring your girlfriend to the hospital to meet him. Our family hasn't been together for a long time. But with what happened today, you definitely won't agree anymore."
He laughed: "It's okay, as your father, I understand you... Wait until my birthday, then bring her back. It'll be a good time to talk to you about your mother's situation."
