The broken carriage lay across the ridge pass, like a bone stuck in someone's throat.

There was no wind in Black Pine Ridge.

The snow was still falling outside, but the forest was eerily quiet. Pine branches were laden with snow, and occasionally a clump of snow would fall and hit the ground with a muffled sound like footsteps.

The Black Tiger Camp cavalry immediately dispersed.

Some drew their swords, some drew their bows, and some subconsciously looked at Han Zhao.

Han Zhao remained seated on his horse, not giving the order immediately.

He looked at the broken axle, his eyes showing no surprise, only a fleeting chill of having been seen through.

Chen Mu squatted down beside the car and used the tip of his knife to pry open the broken end.

The accompanying clerk turned pale and squatted down behind the broken carriage, clutching his pen case.

Chen Mu told him not to go far away.

"Look carefully."

The minor official swallowed hard.

"What are you looking at?"

"Whoever grabs the chest first, blocks the road first, and fires the arrow first."

Chen Mu's voice was very soft.

"Today we're not just going to fight, we're going to keep a record of it."

The clerk's hands trembled even more violently, but he still spread the paper out on the cart.

A gust of wind blew, causing the corners of the paper to flutter wildly. Su Wan reached out and held down one corner, preventing the paper from flying away.

Chen Mu saw it but didn't say thank you.

He simply nodded.

Su Wan then realized that this was something she could do right now.

The inside of the wooden axle had fine knife marks, but the outside was covered with mud and ash. If it hadn't hit the hardest frozen rock at the ridge pass, the cart would have gone another twenty or thirty steps before breaking.

By then, you'll be surrounded by forests on all sides, with black pines on all four sides.

It's difficult to back out.

Old Chai came over, glanced at it, and started cursing.

"Damn it, this is insidious."

Chen Mu said, "Don't repair it."

Old Chai was taken aback.

"What should we do with the car?"

"Turn it sideways."

Chen Mu pointed to the narrowest part of the ridge pass.

"Use it as a wall."

The cooks immediately sprang into action.

Deep in the right forest, someone clearly hadn't expected that a broken car would become a battleground.

They were supposed to wait until the escort team was in disarray, then rush out from both sides while the men were repairing the vehicle. But now, the vehicle was sideways, the boxes were exposed, and the cooks were using the vehicle's sideboard as a shield against arrows. What was originally their killing point had been transformed by Chen Mu into his defensive line.

As Old Chai towed the truck, he muttered under his breath, "This piece of junk is more useful than the Zhao family's."

The cook next to him couldn't help but laugh.

The laughter had barely begun when an arrow shot out from the woods.

The arrow was embedded in the chariot deck, only two inches from the soldier's face.

The laughter stopped.

He licked his chapped lips and lifted the pot lid.

I didn't laugh.

Old Chai cursed, "Coward! Hold it steady!"

They were more familiar with wooden carts than regular soldiers. Three men lifted the shaft, two men removed half of the wheels, and Old Chai used an iron hook to tilt the cart, managing to position the broken cart across the middle of the road.

Su Wan stood behind the car, holding the box of fake certificates, her face pale, but she did not back down.

Chen Mu glanced at her.

"Put the box in the car beforehand."

Su Wan was taken aback.

She quickly understood.

This is bait.

She placed the box in the most conspicuous spot on the broken car, her fingertips trembling slightly as she removed the lid.

"It's all set up."

Chen Mu nodded.

"Back up to the back of the car."

Anato was being pulled along by Zhou Tie, her eyes behind the iron mask fixed on the forest.

"There's a smell on the right side."

Zhou Tie frowned.

"What does it smell like?"

"Horse sweat."

She raised her chin.

"They also have well-made leather armor. They're not barbarian cavalry, they look like your Han army."

The expressions of the Black Tiger Camp cavalrymen changed.

Han Zhao said coldly, "A mere barbarian woman dares to point fingers at my border troops?"

Anado chuckled.

"I'm just saying, someone's hiding."

She looked at Chen Mu.

"If you don't believe me, you can keep going."

Chen Mu did not move forward.

He took a bag of ash from Old Chai.

"spread."

The fire brigade scattered a shallow line of ashes along the front of the broken cart.

Han Zhao frowned.

"Are you playing these kitchen tricks again?"

Chen Mu said, "The ash is light."

As soon as he finished speaking, a speck of dust suddenly drifted out from the woods on the right.

Someone is taking a breath inside.

Zhou Tie's eyes darkened.

"There is someone in Youlin."

Almost simultaneously, a soft sound came from above the black pine on the left.

A rock rolled down the slope.

Then came the second piece, and the third piece.

It's not a big rock.

They are all about the size of a fist.

It won't kill anyone, but it can certainly disrupt the flow of traffic.

Several horses of the Black Tiger Camp were startled and took a half step back. The outer formation was thrown into disarray, and the sound of bowstrings immediately rang out from the forest.

An arrow was shot from the right forest.

Not a Korean.

It was a box of fake certificates.

Su Wan's face turned pale.

Chen Mu, however, was prepared.

"Pot lid".

Two soldiers from the cookhouse raised the broken pot lid and stood in front of the box.

The arrow struck the pot lid, making both men's arms go numb from the impact.

The third arrow slipped through the gap, grazed Su Wan's sleeve, and embedded itself in the car panel.

She didn't call out.

He simply clutched the empty box strap tightly to his chest and took a step back from the car.

Chen Mu said, "Well done."

Su Wan's eyes reddened slightly, but she did not look up.

This is not gentleness.

It's an approval in military orders.

She now knows that this is more valuable than a word of comfort.

Another rain of arrows fell from the forest.

The cooks lay in ambush behind the broken cart, layering ash bags, pot lids, and damp felt on top of it. The Lu family guards spread out from both sides, their crossbows pinning down You Lin. The Black Tiger Camp cavalry were blocked at the rear, unable to advance or retreat, and could only watch Han Zhao.

Han Zhao said coldly, "Chonglin."

Just as the two cavalrymen behind him were about to move, Chen Mu spoke.

"If the horse goes in, it will die."

Han Zhao looked at him.

Chen Mu pointed to the lower part of Linkou.

There are black cracks beneath the snow.

"That's an old drainage ditch. If a horse steps on it, its front legs will sink in."

Han Zhao's face darkened.

His cavalrymen managed to rein in the horses.

The next moment, someone blew a short whistle in the right grove.

A row of lassos sprang up from under the snow, taut just at the horse's chest height.

If they had charged in just now, at least a large number of the Black Tiger Battalion's front rank would have fallen.

Zhou Tie cursed under his breath, "They're really coming for us."

Anato suddenly said, "Let go of one of my hands."

Zhou Tie immediately tightened his grip on the rope.

"dream."

Anato looked at Chen Mu.

"The right side is not the main killing point."

She looked up at the top of the woods.

"The real ones are on the ridge. They'll wait for you to keep your eyes on the right, then they'll come crashing down from above."

Chen Mu followed her gaze.

Snow hung heavily from the branches of the black pine.

After the snow, there was a very light reflection of iron.

Chen Mu drew his short knife and cut the rope binding Anado's right hand, leaving only her left hand tied.

Zhou Tie was getting anxious.

"Corporal Chen!"

Chen Mu pressed the back of the knife against Anato's wrist.

You only have one hand.

Anato stretched her knuckles and smiled through the iron mask.

"That's enough."

She reached out and picked up a few pine needles from the snow, then smelled them.

"There are fire ropes on the ridge."

Chen Mu understood.

It wasn't direct murder.

It's burning pine branches.

Once the black pine trees are lit, the smoke will push up the ridge, and everyone behind the cart will be choked by it.

"Old Chai."

"exist!"

"Take four men and use the White Fox Iron Claw to go up the left slope. Don't kill anyone, just cut the fire rope."

Old Chai grinned.

"This is a skilled worker."

The cooks, carrying iron claws, pressed themselves against the left-hand slope. These were weapons they had seized from the White Fox Guard's corpse the previous night, and now they were being used by their own men for the first time.

Someone quickly discovered it on the ridge.

The arrow came down from above.

Chen Mu blew the whistle.

At the same time, dust bags were thrown out from the back of the vehicle, and the dust was swept up by the airflow from the ridge. The arrows were thrown into disarray, and Lao Chai and the others seized the opportunity, using their iron claws to grip the tree roots and climb up using both hands and feet.

Han Zhao watched from behind, his expression growing increasingly grim.

The fire station climbed the slope, Lu's personal guards pressed down on the right forest, Su Wan guarded the fake box, and Ana Duo pointed to the ridge.

This escort team had actually been turned into a net in Chen Mu's hands.

The people lying in ambush in the woods grew anxious.

Suddenly, seven or eight men in black rushed out from the right and headed straight for the fake ID box in front of the broken car.

They don't linger in battle.

The only target is the box.

Su Wan subconsciously took a step forward, then abruptly stopped.

She remembered Chen Mu's words.

The box is bait.

What she wanted to protect was not the box.

It's the original booklet at the back.

The two soldiers from the cookhouse deliberately stepped aside by half a foot.

The man in black snatched the fake box.

In that instant, Chen Mu whispered, "Stop."

The ropes on both sides of the broken car were tightened simultaneously.

The bottom of the box was already tied with rope.

The man in black had just picked up the box when he was pulled forward by the rope. A pot lid slammed down, an iron hook caught his leg, and Lu family guards pressed down on him from the side.

One survivor was held down in the snow.

Seeing that things were not going well, the others immediately tried to retreat.

Suddenly, Old Chai's shout came from the ridge.

"The fuse has broken!"

After the fire rope on the ridge was cut, a piece of hemp rope, still glowing with embers, fell into the snow.

With a hiss, a wisp of white smoke rose from the snow.

Old Chai didn't try to claim credit and immediately led his men to retreat downhill. Someone above chased after them for a couple of steps, but was forced back by an arrow from Lu's personal guards. The cooks tumbled and scrambled down the slope, their bodies covered in pine needles and snow, looking as disheveled as if they had crawled out of a stove.

But when they came down, they were still dragging two fire ropes in their hands.

Old Chai threw the fire rope in front of the broken cart.

"Sergeant Chen, the evidence!"

The clerk immediately wrote: "A fire rope was hidden on the ridge of Black Pine Ridge, intending to burn the pine trees to force the troops out of battle. The fire brigade intercepted it."

Han Zhao stared at the line of text, his face darkening.

This is exactly what Chen Mu wanted.

It's not about how many people are killed.

It's about ensuring that every dirty trick leaves a mark.

Immediately afterwards, one of the ambushers rolled down the slope, breaking a pine branch.

The people of Youlin were thrown into turmoil.

Just as Chen Mu was about to have Zhou Tie interrogate the prisoners, he heard the sound of horses' hooves behind him.

The Black Tiger Battalion has moved.

It's not about heading forward to rescue.

Instead, they spread out backwards, blocking the way back to Blackrock Fortress.

Zhou Tie's expression changed drastically.

"Han Zhao blocks their escape route!"

Chen Mu turned around.

Han Zhao, riding on his horse, looked at him through the wind and snow, a cold smile playing on his lips.

Ahead lies the Black Pine Ridge ambush.

The Black Tiger Camp blocked the road behind them.

Chen Mu gripped the short knife tightly.

"it is good."

"He's finally off the field."
