Rules of the Strange: I Can See Through All the Weird
Chapter 2 Favorability
There were no other clues in the room besides this rule sheet.
Qi Tong was about to go out to look for clues when she looked out the window.
It was bright outside, making one subconsciously feel that it was daytime.
The sky was very bright, but something seemed off about it...
Qi Tong immediately searched for the item and finally found a digital watch in the first drawer of the bedside table.
The digital watch showed that it was 21:21.
Nine o'clock.
The rules state that you must be back in your room before 9 p.m., and that's where the first problem arose.
Qi Tong immediately went to bed. Who knew if the ghost parents of this happy family would come over late at night to check if the child was asleep?
It's very bright outside the window.
It wasn't sunlight; it was a pale, lifeless light that couldn't be blocked even with the curtains drawn. The light seeped in through every fiber of the fabric, bathing the entire room in a sickly pallor.
Qi Tong could even see the fine hairs on his arms, each one standing upright.
She lay in bed, one arm pressed against her eyes, and quickly fell asleep.
This is the habit of falling asleep instantly that comes from living like a beast of burden! Give Qi Tong some time, and she can even take a short nap while bending down to pick something up.
666 watched as Qi Tong showed no sense of crisis whatsoever, and just fell asleep so carefree, chattering away in Qi Tong's mind.
Qi Tong had just mentally replied with "Basic operation, don't be silly" when she heard the sound of the room door being opened.
"Squeak...ya..."
Qi Tong frowned slightly under her arm. The decoration and layout of this house were quite elaborate, so why did the door make such an old-fashioned sound?
"She's asleep. I told you the child is asleep, but you insisted on coming to check on her." A gentle female voice rang out.
A hoarse male voice replied, "I'm worried, aren't I? Xiao Tong always pretends to be asleep; she's such a disobedient child."
The two then remained standing at the doorway, seemingly waiting for something.
After waiting for about two minutes, as if to confirm that the person on the bed was really asleep, the door was closed.
But Qi Tong didn't move, as if she were really asleep.
The door was closed, but the oppressive feeling remained. It was as if something was watching them intently.
Immediately following was a slight "clicking" sound, as if the bones were stretching.
Then, two dark figures silently rose from the doorway.
They didn't leave.
They stretched their necks out long, like two venomous snakes flicking their tongues, reaching from the doorway all the way to directly above the bed.
Two wisps of cold breath sprayed onto Qi Tong's face, carrying a rotten stench.
After five or six minutes, I heard the door being opened and closed again.
Qi Tong then opened her eyes and breathed a huge sigh of relief. She hated the sudden face-slapping scenes even when watching horror movies!
Qi Tong sat up, and a notebook suddenly appeared on the bedside table, which had been empty just moments before.
The notebook's cover is covered with small stickers, giving it a very girly look.
However, when the notebook was opened, it only showed the day of the week, the week of the week, and the weather; there was not a single word of diary content below.
"What needs to be triggered for the content to appear?" Qi Tong wondered. Suddenly, the room went completely dark, and the "big light" outside seemed to have stopped shining.
Qi Tong put the diary in the drawer and went to bed.
"Squeak—squeak—" A sharp sound came, like the sound of fingernails scraping against a wooden board, one after another, piercing and annoying.
Seeing that the person on the bed didn't move, a knocking sound came from the window. "Knock, knock, knock."
They seemed to have found amusement and began singing in unison.
The scraping sound became rapid, and the knocking on the window intensified, like a violent downpour determined to wake her.
The sounds grew increasingly frantic.
Seeing that the person on the bed was fast asleep, the sounds gradually subsided, followed by a soft sigh that sounded particularly abrupt in the quiet night, sending chills down one's spine.
Although Qi Tong falls asleep quickly, she is a very light sleeper and can hear any noise, but she ignores it.
After all, the rules state that you should ignore any sounds after midnight.
-
"Knock knock"
"Honey, wake up! It's already 7:30. You'll be late if you don't get up now."
It's the owner of that female voice from last night.
Qi Tong stretched, got out of bed, and opened the door.
Qi Tong was surprised. The NPCs these days are quite good-looking!
The woman in front of her looked gentle and kind, radiating a maternal glow, and was smiling at her.
"Go wash up quickly, honey, you have to work later."
Work? She has to work even though she only has one child.
Am I wrong? It should be "going to school".
Qi Tong responded, pretending to rub her eyes, but actually quickly glanced around the living room. Seeing that there were no rule papers or similar items, she slowly went to the bathroom.
Qi Tong stood in front of the mirror, brushing her teeth and looking at herself in the mirror.
It's exactly like my childhood self.
As I looked at myself, the person in the mirror started to look strange.
Qi Tong wasn't smiling, but the person in the mirror had a slight upturn at the corners of their mouth.
Brushing his teeth while smiling looks even weirder.
Qi Tong quickly finished fighting, left the bathroom, and walked towards her mother who was busy making breakfast.
As if sensing something, Mom turned to look at Qi Tong and said with a smile, "It'll be ready soon. Go sit on the sofa and wait a bit."
"Okay, where's Daddy?" Qi Tong asked as she walked toward the living room. Not knowing the rules, she didn't dare to make any rash moves and could only pretend to be a good girl.
Mom said with a smile, "Dad went to work."
As soon as I sat down on the sofa, the rules were played on the TV in front of me.
rule:
1. You are an obedient child, and you must grant your mother's reasonable requests.
2. I can't eat the meat my mother cooks.
3. Do not enter the locked room next to your parents' room.
4. You cannot refuse to go to work! You absolutely cannot refuse.
5. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator. If you get really hungry, eat these.
6. If your parents are very loving and you see them showing affection, pretend you don't see it and don't say anything.
7. Don't look in the mirror too often, as you might see things you don't want to see.
8. Mom and Dad love you very much.
9. One of the above rules is incorrect.
Qi Tong subconsciously scanned the other rules quickly.
The situation in the bathroom just now led Qi Tong to conclude that rule number seven should be correct.
"Come and eat!" Before Qi Tong could think it through, her mother had already called her to eat.
Qi Tong walked over and exclaimed, "Good heavens, they're eating meat so early in the morning!"
There were many things on the table, all of them meat, except for a small piece of flatbread as the main dish.
Qi Tong took the pancake and ate it, but her mother across from her became increasingly unhappy, and the corners of her mouth drooped down.
"Why aren't you eating your vegetables, Xiao Tong?" The address had changed from "baby" to "Xiao Tong," and the tone was no longer as gentle as before.
The ghost mother's smile was still on her face.
But suddenly, the voice of "666" exploded in Qi Tong's mind: 【Your favorability has dropped! Dropped so fast! Host, did you do something wrong?!】ヽ(≧Д≦)ノ
Qi Tong rolled her eyes inwardly: "I figured it out without you telling me. But what about the favorability rating?"
[Affection level is how much the NPCs like you, host!]
Qi Tong hummed in response, replying to the system with "666".
Then she obediently looked up at her ghost mother and said, "Mommy, my tummy isn't feeling well. I'd like to eat something light."
Her big eyes looked at her mother with a sincere expression.
The ghost mother stopped being angry; the child's reasoning was reasonable.
"Oh, is that so? If you feel unwell at work later, be sure to tell your mother." The ghost mother returned to her normal self.
"Mmm," Qi Tong responded, quickly finished the pancake, and then hurriedly got off the table.
She was choking to death.
After drinking a glass of water, Qi Tong felt better.
Looking to the side, I saw that the ghost mother had a huge appetite; she had almost finished all the food on the table by herself.
When Qi Tong looked over, she was still tearing meat out of her mouth, which was very uncomfortable to watch.
Qi Tong grinned, "What a bold way to eat!"
