My Wandering Swordsman

Chapter 25 The Beauty Trap

After I finished speaking, the room fell silent again. I guessed that girl Ruan Tang had no idea who I was.

After a while, the wooden door was slowly pulled open a crack, and a pair of bright, large eyes peeked out from behind the door, giving me a wary look.

Immediately afterwards, their eyes widened as the wooden door was yanked open.

"Pervert! You horrible freak! The ultimate demon! How could it be you?!"

As Ruan Tang cursed, she covered her collar tightly with her hands, her poor chest shrinking back.

"What are you doing here!"

I was speechless.

Why does my level of perversion escalate every time I see this girl?

And look, look, look at this little face.

With her big, watery eyes, two rosy cheeks, and petite body huddled behind the door, she was incredibly charming and pitiful.

Those who didn't know better might actually think I was trespassing in broad daylight, intending to do something improper.

Fortunately, the village was sparsely populated in the afternoon, and everyone stayed in their houses with electric fans, so no one came out to do anything.

"Aren't you going to invite me in for a seat?" I said, trying to sound casual.

"Get lost! How did you know my address? You stalker!"

Well, I've got another nickname.

I shrugged and said helplessly, "Have you forgotten who signed your statement back then, honey?"

Ruan Tang gritted her teeth in hatred: "You're dead! Who's your wife?!"

As she spoke, she raised her hand as if to shoo me out.

Seeing that she was really angry, I stopped joking and said seriously, "Alright, alright, stop fooling around, Ruan Tang, I have something important to talk to you about."

Ruan Tang narrowed her big, watery eyes, expressing serious skepticism about the serious business I mentioned: "You good-for-nothing, you have serious business to discuss? Tell me about it."

I couldn't be bothered with formalities, glanced around, and then peeked into her room: "No, sister, this is extremely important business, are we really going to talk about it here?"

Ruan Tang wasn't about to let me in. She glanced guiltily behind her, then stiffened her neck: "Let's talk here!"

I didn't expose her little scheme, so I took a step closer and lowered my voice to ask directly:

"Do you want to make money?"

Ruan Tang was taken aback: "W-what do you mean?"

"I know an assistant director in Hengdian. He's a real bastard. He skims off extras' pay and pockets it all. Now I need you to step in and catch this bastard red-handed so I can teach him a lesson."

This is my plan.

Ultimately, the story about Assistant Director Wang is only Niu's side of the story. If that guy refuses to admit it, there's nothing anyone can do.

Therefore, I need a reliable person to pretend to apply for an extra role, take the opportunity to get close to Assistant Director Wang, and get information out of him to help me secure this evidence. Then, whether it's a recording or written material, as long as I have solid evidence, he won't be able to cause any more trouble.

Who will handle this?

Me, the Flower Monk, and Liu Zi were furious. Even if we were disguised as transvestites, the assistant director would still recognize us. Even someone as famous as my aunt couldn't do this.

So, after thinking it over, I realized that the person in front of me is the most suitable.

Assistant Director Wang is greedy and lecherous, but with Ruan Tang's pretty face and quirky acting skills, she'll have no trouble getting under his thumb.

Unfortunately, despite my careful calculations, I overlooked one crucial point.

Ruan Tang isn't one of my people.

Sure enough, after hearing that, she snorted twice, clenched her fist, and shoved me out:

"Get lost! I thought this was some serious business. You're just asking me to sell my body! Who knows what you're up to? I'm not doing it!"

I was dumbfounded, and said righteously, "How is this not a serious matter? This concerns the wages of a hundred or so extras. It's about working for the people's well-being and fighting for their interests... It's a great thing, Tangtang, please do me a favor and help us out."

Ruan Tang has no political stance whatsoever; she's just covering her nose and kicking people out.

"You dare call me 'Sugar'? Shameless! And what are you talking to me about? If you want to find happiness, go find it yourself. I have important things to do. Get out of here, or I'll call the police!"

I've given up entirely:

"Go ahead and report it. As for the police, we're still husband and wife, it's a family matter, the authorities can't get involved."

"you--"

Ruan Tang puffed up her cheeks in anger, her little face turned bright red, and she glared at me resentfully.

"You shameless scoundrel! I'm not doing it, so what can you do to me?"

Now I was completely flustered and running around in circles in a panic.

What to do, what to do? Should we just tie this girl up?

It's easy to tie her up, but what good is that? If she doesn't cooperate, no amount of persuasion will help.

Without thinking, I glanced inside and a wooden stool with a missing leg came into view.

My eyes darted around, and I tried to speak: "Tangtang, why can't you understand? As long as you're willing to help us find fault with Assistant Director Wang, won't we be able to pave the way for us to become extras? Won't the money come pouring in? Why would you be stuck in this lousy place all by yourself?"

Originally, I was just trying to tempt him with some incentives.

To my surprise, after I finished speaking, Ruan Tang's expression relaxed slightly. She bit her lip, her eyes flickered, and she didn't reply.

I saw a potential opportunity here; it seems this girl is also short of money.

Come to think of it, who wouldn't be short of money if they lived in such a dilapidated bungalow?

So I added fuel to the fire: "Tangtang, no matter how busy you are, you have to save some money. You're a young woman in the prime of your life, wearing white T-shirts every day. At least earn some money to buy yourself a nice dress!"

That really worked; Ruan Tang's expression relaxed a bit more.

After a long while, she slowly and softly spoke, "...So, what do you need me to do?"

A weight lifted from my heart, and I took out a slip of paper from my pocket and handed it over:

"Tomorrow, dress up and come to this address to find me. We'll go over the lines then, and I'll take you to see Assistant Director Wang."

Ruan Tang took the note, wrinkled her pretty nose, and said, "It's that simple?"

I couldn't resist giving her a light tap on the nose and warned, "Simple my foot! I'm just giving you a heads-up: that guy is a complete jerk, so don't let your guard down. Don't end up giving yourself away before you've got solid evidence."

Upon hearing this, Ruan Tang raised her small fist and came at her.

"You lecherous scoundrel, you're full of filthy thoughts."

I laughed and dodged the question: "Don't forget, it's nine o'clock tomorrow."

Ruan Tang snorted, raised her chin arrogantly, and said, "I know, I know, now get lost, don't keep me from watching..."

She stopped abruptly halfway through her sentence, her face turning red again.

I pretended not to see it, suppressed a laugh, turned around, and after taking a couple of steps, I turned back and slowly added:

"By the way, Tangtang, watch less erotic movies. You're still so young, you need to be more restrained."

There was a half-second of silence behind me.

"Ji! Xiao! Song!"
