Activating the Omniscient System, I'm doomed!

Chapter 114 An Experiment Never Before Seen by Humanity

The National Medical University boasts 28 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Its academic strength has consistently ranked first for many years, making it a dream school for many students.

This morning, the college students who had already been admitted to the school gathered around an experimental building, casting admiring glances at a few middle-aged and elderly people in the distance.

"Is this some big project? All 28 academicians from the university have been mobilized!"

"So what if he's an academician? Didn't you see Professor Zhang next to you? He's a famous expert in the medical field, and several academicians are his students."

"That little old man who just got out of the car, isn't that the vice president of the National Academy of Medical Sciences?"

"Holy crap! What's the occasion? They're all industry giants!"

"You're right, I never expected to see so many big shots at school."

"If I can achieve even one-tenth of what they have accomplished in the future, I will be content..."

The college students were excitedly discussing it.

Normally, it's rare to even see one or two academicians, but today not only are 28 academicians gathered, but even the bigwigs of the research institute are here. These are people you might never have the chance to see in your lifetime.

Not only were the students around them surprised, but even the academicians present were taken aback.

On the left was a teacher I hadn't seen in years, and on the right was a dean I couldn't even get a word in edgewise. This scene was even more terrifying than an academic exchange meeting.

"Professor Lai, did you also receive an invitation from the National Security Bureau?" A square-faced academician in his forties, one of the younger people present, couldn't wait to speak first.

Professor Lai, who was in his sixties, nodded slightly. "Those who are able to come here should all be the same."

The square-faced academician took out the invitation and said curiously, "I've never seen an invitation like this before; there are so many official seals on it, I can't even count them all."

"I've never seen it before either. It seems like you're studying something extraordinary," Professor Lai replied, maintaining an air of superiority.

The portly academician on the left walked over and said with a smile, "It is said that Dr. Wang Yanshan of the State Special Bureau is researching some kind of constitution gene. Today's incident was most likely initiated by him."

Just then, a military special vehicle drove up, the back door opened, and a bespectacled man in a suit stepped out.

"As expected of Dr. Wang, no wonder there's such a grand entourage."

Upon seeing the visitor, Professor Lai immediately dropped his airs and greeted him with a smile:

"Dr. Wang, it's been three years since our last collaboration. It's truly an opportunity for you to lead this project today, and we're sure to benefit greatly from it once again."

Wang Yanshan laughed and corrected, "The last time we cooperated was indeed three years ago, but today is different. I'm just here to lend a hand."

"Huh?" Professor Lai was quite surprised. "Not you in charge? Then who was it?"

Wang Yanshan turned to look at the military vehicle approaching from a distance. After seeing a young man get out of the car, he nodded and said, "That's Luo Yi from the National Security Bureau, Captain Luo."

Professor Lai followed the gaze, then looked uncertainly at Wang Yanshan. Seeing his serious expression, he muttered, "Could it be that we're letting an outsider lead an expert again?"

In the pharmaceutical industry, age is always a factor. Even geniuses, after mastering thick theoretical knowledge, still need to accumulate seniority. After all that, those who are in their early forties are considered outstanding.

The young man in the distance looked to be at most twenty years old, about the same age as a freshman in college. Normally, he wouldn't even be qualified to meet an academician.

Not to mention leading research projects and guiding nearly a hundred experts to complete experiments.

Wang Yanshan could naturally see through his thoughts, but the physical condition of the captain of the State Special Bureau was classified information and could not be revealed.

Seeing Luo Yi approaching quickly, he went up to him and smiled:

"Captain Luo, everyone's here. Shall we go check out the lab?"

"Okay." Luo Yi followed him and entered the laboratory building first.

As other experts went upstairs one after another, armed soldiers immediately dispersed and stood guard around the building.

The university students who had been watching from a distance dispersed, still feeling a sense of awe and admiration for the experts, while also expressing great envy for the young people who had just entered.

"Which department does that kid belong to? How come he gets allowed in for a visit and study?"

"It's probably because of connections! Doing experiments with so many big shots, even if you don't understand anything, it adds to your resume!"

"Exactly! This is way more valuable than any honor or award. It sounds better too—working with one of the top 100 people in the country, that's incredibly impressive!"

"This guy's luck is beyond redemption; he must be some rich kid coming here to get his resume 'gilded'!"

The college students downstairs were talking increasingly outrageous things. In the end, they even started speculating about which leader Luo Yi was the descendant of.

On the third floor of the laboratory, Luo Yi naturally had no interest in what others thought. He looked at the open-plan laboratory and nodded, saying, "It is indeed quite large."

"Actually, there were three alternative venues, but considering the size, safety, and equipment, this one is the most suitable."

Wang Yanshan continued, "Most importantly, this laboratory was just completed last year and has not yet been put into use, so there is no project interference or residue."

Logically, the site should be located in the National Security Bureau or a research institute, but these laboratories are always busy with projects, and even if the space is cleared out, there might be some residual material.

For Luo Yi, the school was certainly more convenient than the National Security Bureau, at least there weren't as many cameras.

Seeing the medical experts present whispering amongst themselves, many with expressions of complaint on their faces, he clapped his hands and said:

"Professors, starting today, we will be conducting a 25-day research experiment here."

"As for the specifics of the research, that's confidential. Please don't speculate too much, and don't record anything. Just cooperate with me..."

Professor Lai immediately interrupted from the crowd, saying, "How can we work if we don't even know what we're researching? Xiao Luo, didn't you understand the process before you came? You're asking hundreds of experts to cooperate with you; do you expect them all to become your assistants?"

The experts present all looked on in astonishment, none of them expecting him to be so outspoken, truly disregarding the dignity of the State Council.

Professor Lai, however, tilted his head back, as if he was determined to wait for an answer.

He's a professor in his sixties, of course he wouldn't want to work as an assistant to a young kid his grandson's generation. Wouldn't that be going against the natural order?

He's always the one guiding the young people; when has it ever been the young people's turn to teach him how to do things?

Wang Yanshan stepped forward, about to explain, when he heard Luo Yi speak first:

"I don't really understand the experimental procedures. There's no need for traditional procedures here. To put it simply, it's all about racing against time to react with the substances."

Upon hearing this, the vice president of the National Academy of Medical Sciences nodded, already recognizing that this young man was an expert.

The so-called race against time in a reaction means, in layman's terms, adding specific elements before the reaction has had a chance to happen.

Professor Lai's tone softened as he said:

"To achieve the required precision and speed, most doctoral students can complete the task. There's no need to bring in top experts, right? The impact would be enormous, wouldn't it?"

Many of the experts and professors present nodded in agreement, feeling that it was like using a cannon to kill a mosquito.

Luo Yi remained calm throughout, clearly aware of his goal. He turned and activated the electronic blackboard behind him, listing out the reaction formula as he spoke:

"Most technicians can indeed achieve basic reaction time."

"But I need to label specific substances and make the reactants accurately identify the labels, while also sorting the labeled substances."

"To put it simply, it's like having 100 people on a playground who need to be arranged in the shape of a five-pointed star. The fastest way is to make marks so that people with specific numbers stand in designated positions."

"The drug we're going to study this time is similar to making a five-pointed star."

"This is a project that no one has ever done before, and there is no academic paper to support it, so we invited experts and professors to come and complete it together."

What a bold idea… Many experts and professors at the scene swallowed hard, their gazes towards Luo Yi shifting from skepticism to admiration.

Several people even considered taking him on as an apprentice; such a calm, quick-witted, and bold young man is rare.
