Chapter 14 Enrollment and Roommates

The high walls belong to Donghai Academy. Not far ahead is the academy entrance, with a tall gatehouse built of huge stones that exudes an imposing presence.

Donghai Academy is a large academy with both intermediate and advanced levels of academic qualifications. Therefore, it is divided into an intermediate department and an advanced department. Liu Yuxin is a student in the advanced department.

Don't assume that the intermediate and advanced levels are only a step apart; in reality, the difference is enormous.

Intermediate academies offer compulsory education and are tuition-free. Donghai Academy is a Soul Master Academy, with intermediate academies occupying two-thirds of the area, but its essence lies in the advanced academies, which occupy one-third of the area.

Anyone who is a Soul Master and has a recommendation letter from a junior academy within East Sea City and its surrounding towns can come here to receive Soul Master education at the intermediate academy. The intermediate academy has a six-year curriculum, and by the time students graduate from the sixth year, no more than one-tenth are actually able to enter an advanced Soul Master academy.

Advanced colleges are no longer compulsory education; admission is only possible through a series of rigorous examinations, and those who can get into advanced colleges are the true elites.

If the primary academy teaches the basics of martial spirits and soul masters, then the intermediate academy teaches how to apply that knowledge, how to unleash one's martial spirit, and how to define one's future. Only at the advanced academy does one truly pursue advanced studies.

As you enter the college, you are greeted by lush greenery. A wide road stretches out to both sides, while the road in front is paved with bluestone slabs, giving it a rustic feel.

With Liu Yuxin's introduction, Nan Fusheng quickly gained a basic understanding of the college.

The main teaching building of the intermediate academy is located on the east side of the entire academy; it is a twelve-story building. Higher grades are located on higher floors. Nan Fusheng will be a first-year student upon enrollment and will only be assigned to a classroom on the first or second floor.

"That's the Academic Affairs Office over there. Go register. Your middle school dormitory is right behind the teaching building."

After giving the introductions, Liu Yuxin led them to the Academic Affairs Office and then left.

Nan Fusheng chose to wait a while until the others had finished their business before entering the Academic Affairs Office.

With the metal tag given to him by Liu Yuxin, along with the recommendation letter from Hongshan Academy, he successfully completed the enrollment procedures.

Two free school uniforms, one dormitory key, and study materials will be distributed when classes officially begin.

He was assigned to Class 5 of the first year. From that moment on, he was a freshman in the middle school section of Donghai Academy.

Nan Fusheng carried his luggage, walked around the teaching building, and came to the dormitory building at the back. The dormitory building was about the same height as the teaching building, also twelve stories high. His dormitory was on the second floor. Dormitory number 205.

The hallway was noisy and chaotic. These past few days have been the registration period for school enrollment, and there were not only students but also parents dropping off their children, making everything seem somewhat chaotic.

Nan Fusheng finally found his dormitory. The door was open, and there were already people inside.

The dormitory room has two bunk beds, accommodating four people. There are two rectangular tables, four chairs, two cabinets, and a ceiling light. That's all there is to the dormitory.

To his surprise, all three of his roommates were in the dorm. Seeing Nan Fusheng enter, one of the burly students walked right up to him and said, "Looks like you're our roommate. We're cleaning the dorm anyway, want to lend a hand?"

"Okay." Nan Fusheng nodded and joined in cleaning the dormitory. The dormitory wasn't too dirty to begin with, and with the combined efforts of Nan Fusheng and the other three, it was cleaned up in no time.

During the process of cleaning together, the four of them got to know each other better.

"Well then, let me introduce myself first. My name is Wang Ba, my martial spirit is the War Tiger, and I am an eleventh-level War Spirit Master."

"Yunfeng, his martial soul is a dagger, and he is an eleventh-level battle soul master."

"Zhao Xiao's martial soul is a goat, and he is an eleventh-level battle soul master."

"Nan Fusheng, his martial soul is the Time Worm, a level 13 battle soul master."

As the four introduced themselves, Nan Fusheng learned about their soul power levels. Wang Ba was the burly boy who had invited Nan Fusheng to help clean up from the beginning, Yun Feng was rather thin, and Zhao Xiao was unremarkable. Nan Fusheng's self-introduction, however, surprised them somewhat.

"Fusheng, I didn't expect your soul power to be level thirteen. It seems that you are the perfect candidate to be the dormitory head."

"Haha, Wang Ba, stop joking. We're all classmates, there's no such thing as a dorm leader or not. Let's all get along well from now on." Nan Fusheng laughed along with Wang Ba when he heard his teasing and responded with a reply.

After the jokes, the four of them got along much better. This relieved Nan Fusheng, as he didn't want to follow the Douluo Continent tradition of fighting with his roommates right at the start of the semester.

Nan Fusheng chose a lower bunk to start organizing his things. After finishing, he went directly to the cafeteria for a meal and then returned to his dormitory to cultivate.

When Wang Ba and the other two saw Nan Fusheng's schedule, they secretly sighed, "No wonder his soul power is higher than ours. He works so hard!"

Perhaps influenced by Nan Fusheng, the other three also began to suppress their desire to go out and play and their lazy mentality. They followed Nan Fusheng to their beds and began to cultivate. However, what they did not notice was that as they began to cultivate, an illusory worm was appearing on their martial souls.

Slowly absorbing their soul power, this was Nan Fusheng's first soul skill: Parasitism. It allowed him to absorb the soul power of others to accelerate his cultivation.

Nan Fusheng used a shallow parasitic method, while simultaneously influencing their senses through the Time Worm, making it impossible for Wang Ba and the other two to detect anything amiss. Even if outsiders were to observe now, they wouldn't be able to discern anything; they would simply perceive them as diligently cultivating. However, Nan Fusheng didn't absorb excessive soul power; he only absorbed about half the soul power they cultivated at their current rate.

At the same time, the absorbed soul power will be filtered through the parasite's soul spirit before being absorbed by Nan Fusheng.

The reason Wang Ba and the others wanted to cultivate diligently was naturally due to Nan Fusheng's secret parasitic influence. Parasitic souls already have a very weak aura, and because their consciousness had been replaced by Nan Fusheng, he could completely conceal their aura when activating soul skills.

"I'm doing this for their own good. They've already reached the intermediate academy, how can they not work hard in their cultivation?"

Nan Fusheng said that he was doing this for their future, and that the soul power he absorbed was his reward.

And so, Nan Fusheng led Wang Ba and the other two to dinner, followed by cultivation, and then a short nap. After all, they couldn't be pushed too hard. Although meditation could replace sleep to some extent, Wang Ba and the other two weren't capable of meditating continuously.

After waking up, he ate breakfast and continued his cultivation until Nan Fusheng heard a loud bang and a shout.

"Why are you city people so mean?"
