Chapter 20 Fame

Outside Lansheer Bank in New York, a police car arrives quickly and stops outside the police cordon.

George got out of the car, the sunlight shining on his face, which was as black as the bottom of a pot. It seemed that if he shook his head slightly, coal dust would fall off his face.

Who knows? They were preparing to hold a press conference to explain the bank robbery from the day before yesterday, but then another robbery came out during the conference. It's such a quick slap in the face.

At this moment, outside the police cordon, a large number of media and onlookers surrounded the police station, and there were even reporters flying news helicopters to broadcast the entire process live from the bank.

"How's the situation inside? Have the negotiation experts arrived?" George asked, trying to ignore the reporters' gazes behind him.

The officer in charge of taking notes said, "Chief, there are seven robbers. Some of them have already died while resisting. There are now more than twenty hostages inside, who may face death at any moment."

"As for the negotiation experts, they will arrive in a while."

Upon hearing that there had been casualties, George's expression grew even more serious: "We must contact them immediately, should we call the bank's hotline?"

"We've already called them. They said they'd contact us again and asked us to wait," the officer said.

As soon as he finished speaking, the phone rang immediately, and a police officer reported, "Chief, a call has been made from inside. Should we answer it immediately?"

"I'll take it," George said with a sigh.

He picked up the phone and heard a calm male voice on the other end: "Hello, is this the police? Find someone of higher rank who can make decisions to talk to us."

George replied without hesitation, "I am George, the New York Police Commissioner. The entire area outside the bank is now surrounded. Please lay down your weapons immediately. If you surrender, we can discuss sentencing."

"I'm a hostage, talking to me like this is useless."

"Oh……"

"Next, I will open the bank doors as a transit point for dialogue between the two sides. Right now, there are several guns pointed at my back. If I make any inappropriate moves, I will be shot dead immediately, so please do not take any drastic actions."

Inside the bank, Bai Ye stared at the dark muzzle of a gun in front of him, his expression calm, but in reality, his muscles were tense to the extreme, ready to erupt at any moment.

After all, his current physical condition is not yet strong enough to withstand bullets, but it doesn't matter. As long as he doesn't die on the spot, he can use attribute points to return to his best condition.

"Now, go out and tell them our demands. If you mess things up, we'll kill you," the gang leader said viciously.

Bai Ye nodded indifferently, already feeling somewhat impatient and having an urge to kill these people, but now that the commotion had become so big, it was even more difficult to make a move.

Under the guns of these people, Bai Ye took the phone to the door, slowly pushed it open and walked out, only to see police officers, reporters and onlookers watching from all sides.

Outside the bank, the reporters craned their necks, eager to see who would be the first person to emerge from the bank.

Then a handsome young Chinese man walked out, and his 1.4-inch face made everyone present gasp involuntarily.

George was still on the phone with Bai Ye, but he never expected that the person who came out would be such a handsome young man.

But as a father, he subconsciously noticed some small things, his brow furrowing slightly as he said into the phone, "You're still a student? Isn't today Wednesday?"

"Yeah, I skipped class," Bai Ye said matter-of-factly, leaving George speechless.

"Stop talking nonsense. Isn't the priority to get us out of here?" Bai Ye retorted. "Their demand is that you immediately prepare a van and then leave with the cash, without being followed."

"This...we need some time to consider and prepare," George said.

"Of course, no problem. But if you can't do it within an hour, they will kill a hostage every five minutes. Hmm, I'll start with myself." Bai Ye calmly described the conversation between the kidnappers.

"I've finished speaking. Is there anything you need me to tell them? If not, I'll be leaving," Bai Ye asked.

"Please tell them that we will do our best to meet their requirements, but we need to give them more time, and it would be best to have a face-to-face meeting, as this will facilitate communication," George said helplessly.

"OK, I'll pass on what you said, but whether you listen to it or not is none of my business."

George couldn't help but wonder about Bai Ye's nonchalant demeanor; how could this guy be so calm? "Aren't you scared when you're involved in a robbery?"

"There's nothing to be afraid of. Once you meet their demands, I'll be safe." Bai Ye said, turning and walking into the bank.

……

Inside Osborne, under the guidance of teacher James, students are touring this leading global technology company.

Just as James was accompanying the guide on a tour of the company, his cell phone suddenly rang in his pocket. The caller was none other than the principal of his school.

"Hello, Principal, what's up? I'm currently showing students around Osborne University," James said, picking up his phone.

"Is Bai Ye with you? He's the Chinese student in your class." The principal asked seriously on the other end of the phone.

"Um, he skipped class today. Why are you suddenly asking about him?" James asked curiously.

"He's been kidnapped from the bank, and it's making headlines on major news websites across the United States." The principal looked at the news that had made it to the front page of major news websites.

"What!" James exclaimed, then, feigning composure, addressed the class as they looked over, "You all follow the staff for the tour first. I have something to take care of."

Peter Parker, like the other students, watched in bewilderment as James hurriedly left as if his house were on fire.

Above his head, a red and blue spider was hanging down from above, gently attaching itself to the back of his neck, and then biting down.

"Hiss..." Peter Parker instinctively slapped his neck, then looked at his palm, where a crushed spider corpse lay quietly.

Meanwhile, James borrowed a computer at Osborne University, opened a news page, and saw that the headlines of all the major mainstream media outlets in the United States featured the face of a boy wearing a black and white striped shirt.

That face... isn't it just like my student's?

James was at a loss for words to describe his feelings. He continued browsing and found not only photos, but also all the videos after White Night appeared. There were even news reports of helicopters circling around the bank.
