Chapter 36. Hamster Agent 007, On the Move!
The nights at Hogwarts are a bit chilly.
It's already November, and it's not uncommon for the temperature to occasionally drop below ten degrees Celsius.
In Lynn's private room in the Slytherin boys' common room.
A pure white hamster, named Umaru by its owner, sneakily and skillfully opened its cage with its little paws.
Then, with a leap, it jumped from the desk to the carpet. Its first instinct was to look for some snacks in Lynn's bag, but then it saw Lynn still fast asleep and remembered that he had noticed its cookies were missing last time, so it became a little suspicious.
So Umaru reluctantly changed her mind.
It ran quickly all the way from Lynn's dormitory to the Slytherin common room.
Faced with a door that required a password to open, it didn't stop, but ran straight to the door and then skillfully slipped out through a small hole next to it.
Once outside Slytherin's common room, it ran off in one direction like a child unsupervised by its parents, occasionally teasing the sleeping portraits in the frames, or jumping up and doing somersaults in mid-air.
As it ran to the corner of a staircase, a emaciated, dark gray creature suddenly jumped in front of it, blocking its path.
It was an ugly cat named Mrs. Lorris, the pet of Hogwarts caretaker Filch.
Mrs. Lorris glared angrily at the white hamster with her bulging, light bulb-like eyes.
It didn't seem like they were meeting for the first time; they clearly had a grudge from before.
A human-like disdainful look appeared in Umaru's tiny, bean-sized eyes. It jumped up from the spot and aimed a flying kick at the cat head that was twice its size!
Mrs. Lorris couldn't dodge in time and, as if kicked in the eye socket, let out a shrill scream before running off somewhere else.
Umaru, like a warrior who had just defeated a dragon, put her hands on her hips and hummed and hawed in self-satisfaction before quickly moving around Hogwarts Castle on all fours.
It seemed very familiar with the castle's surroundings, leaping and bounding all the way until it finally arrived at a wooden door in the Hogwarts underground storage room.
Under the cover of night, an amazing scene unfolded in a corner of Hogwarts Castle.
The hamster named Umaru was growing larger and larger. The fur on its body was falling away, and part of it turned into a snow-white dress and part of it turned into fluffy white hair.
Lynn's pet has turned into a little girl who looks only 7 or 8 years old.
She was wearing little black leather shoes, and kicked the wooden door hard, calling out playfully:
"Sir! Hamster Agent 007, Sofia Basak, reporting for duty!"
The voice coming from the other side of the wooden door sounded like it was scolding her, which made the little girl feel dissatisfied.
"What? How could there be anyone here? I already chased that stinky cat away on the way. That stupid administrator won't find this place."
They said something on the other side of the wooden door.
"Hmm? What have you been up to lately?" Sophia asked, tilting her head back and biting her finger as she recalled. "He spends all his time either reading or practicing spells. Ugh, it's so boring. But the candy he brought me the other day was really nice! Apparently, it was a gift from those two red-haired twins."
At this point, she frowned again.
"But he mostly feeds me wheat kernels and whole-grain biscuits. I'm almost sick of them, but I don't dare not eat them for fear of giving myself away. Can you give me a little something extra today? I haven't eaten meat in ages, and my face has gotten so thin..."
The scolding from the other side of the wooden door seemed to grow louder.
Sofia pouted, squatted down, covered her ears, shook her head unhappily, and shouted:
"Don't call Sofia stupid! Sofia isn't stupid at all!"
The people on the other side of the wooden door were afraid that she might run away if she got upset, so they praised her gently for a while and then asked her another question.
Sofia's delicate eyebrows furrowed together as she racked her brains for a long time before finally remembering.
"Lynn has finished learning poison spells from that professor, and it seems they're planning to start learning true curses next. What should I do? Lynn seems to be getting stronger and stronger. If he finds out, will he turn me into a pile of hamsters and eat me?"
The person behind the door seemed quite pleased with the news she brought, then gave the girl some instructions before letting her leave.
Sofia puffed up her cheeks in grievance, muttering things like, "They don't give us meat, but they make us work. Even if it were a real 007, he'd still be caught if he didn't have the strength." She left reluctantly.
She transformed back into a hamster, wandered around Hogwarts a few times, and finally returned to her cage before Lynn woke up.
As winter approached, the days gradually shortened, and Lynn's wake-up time was delayed by an hour from 4 a.m.
Five o'clock in the morning.
The sky outside was still dark. Lynn changed his clothes, added some water and cookie crumbs to Umaru's cage, and then left the warm dormitory.
The sleepy-eyed hamster 007 glanced at the crumbs of cookies in the small bowl with its tiny eyes, then drifted back to sleep with a hint of resentment.
Lynn walked out of the Slytherin common room, put his hands in front of his face, breathed on them, and rubbed them together.
The weather is getting colder, and Lynn is already planning to wear gloves when she goes out tomorrow.
As usual, he carried his wand to the Black Lake, where he ran into Cedric, who had come out with him, at the gates of Hogwarts.
"Are you free tonight, Lynn?" Cedric asked warmly, putting his arm around Lynn's shoulder.
Lynn rolled her eyes and slapped his arm away.
"Your actions and words right now sound like those of a dead gay man."
Cedric looked completely innocent: "Why would you think that?"
"Don't look so pitiful." Lynn looked at him with disdain. "Just say what's on your mind."
Cedric rubbed his hands together. "Well, my Dean, Professor Sprout, asked me to find someone to go to the greenhouse tonight to help harvest some white fern leaves. You know, although I'm fairly popular in Hufflepuff, you're my closest friend, so..."
"this one?"
Lynn didn't refuse; he didn't have anything planned for the evening anyway.
"I'm fine with it, I'm free anytime tonight."
Cedric grinned and grabbed Lynn's arm.
"Come on, today I'll be your personal sparring partner. You tell me which spell you want me to practice, and we'll practice whatever spell you want."
After spending several months together, Lynn and Cedric became extremely close, and Lynn's magical talent also greatly surprised Cedric.
In just two or three months, Lynn's mastery of normal spells was already comparable to that of Cedric, who was already a second-year student.
