Chapter 54. A Belated Revenge

Chapter 54. Revenge Ten Years Late (Part Two)

Fine rain pattered against the dense foliage.

Deep within the Forbidden Forest, Professor Fox and Hagrid simultaneously cast the Ironclad Charm on themselves.

"Armor for protection!"

An invisible protective barrier formed around them. At the same time, swarms of giant spiders, each the size of a millstone, charged at them as if under some kind of command!

Professor Fox waved his wand, splashing water in mid-air.

Without uttering a spell, a practiced, silent transformation spell turned the branches of the surrounding bushes into vines, forming a circle around them.

The spiders at the forefront couldn't dodge in time; eight legs were harder to coordinate than two, and a large number of them were tripped up by vines that suddenly appeared on the ground.

Hagrid immediately raised his little red umbrella, aimed it at the swarm of spiders behind the ones that had tripped up, and used a Barrier Charm.

"Numerous obstacles."

"Thunderous explosion!"

Almost simultaneously, Professor Fox cast the Explosion Charm.

A tremendous roar erupted in front of them, and a blinding flash of fire instantly engulfed the spiders that had tripped over the ground or were afflicted by the Obstacle Curse.

With a painful hiss, countless spiders' bodies were blown to pieces, and thick, disgusting green blood mixed with fragments of their bodies and organs splattered everywhere.

Professor Fox's Explosion Charm was extremely powerful, and compared to the Explosion Charm that Lynn used when he practiced, the difference was as great as that between a hand grenade and a firecracker.

"If the Forbidden Forest is burned down, Dumbledore probably won't make me compensate the school for the losses, will he?" Professor Fox still had the mood to joke even at this point.

Many spiders were killed or injured by the explosion, but there were many more that survived. Fearless, they charged forward again, stepping over the corpses of their companions!

"If we get out of here alive, I'll pay the compensation Professor Dumbledore is demanding from you!" Hagrid said through gritted teeth.

They stood back to back, continuously casting spells on the spider swarm. Spiders fell one after another, and new spiders swarmed around them in an equally continuous stream.

"How many descendants does your friend have?" Fox asked breathlessly.

"I haven't kept track of it, but it's been growing for the last forty years!"

"That's it, if this continues, we'll be worn down by them."

"We can try turning back and rushing out!" Hagrid suggested.

"Great idea!" Professor Fox nodded in approval. "You're tall, so you can charge ahead, and I'll follow behind to hold them off."

"Can you keep up?" Hagrid didn't think there was anything wrong with Professor Fox's words.

A flash of fire, and another explosive spell was fired, but it had little effect against the endless swarm of spiders.

Professor Fox shook the rain off his wand: "Just keep running, all the way back to Hogwarts, and I'll catch up."

"I'll count to three, then you can start rinsing."

"Three, two, one!"

As Professor Fox finished speaking, Hagrid suddenly roared, closed his eyes, turned around, and ran wildly in the direction they had come from!

As if by unspoken agreement, none of the spiders tried to stop Hagrid when he rushed in front of them; instead, they all made way for him.

Hagrid broke free of the spider swarm with ease.

However, Professor Fox remained motionless amidst the spiders' encirclement, shouting at Hagrid's retreating figure.

"Run faster, Hagrid, and I'll overtake you!"

Hagrid ran wildly and soon disappeared into the night.

Professor Fox squinted at the swarm of spiders that had sealed the exit again, chuckled softly, and seemed to be talking to someone.

"I wanted to kill you, but instead of running away, you actually wanted to use this opportunity to kill me."

He stretched his wrists, which were a little sore from constantly waving his wand. "Letting Hagrid go is exactly what I wanted. Did you think I called him in so he could be my helper?"

"Now that he's gone, I can finally let go and do whatever I want."

Professor Fox gripped the wand in a strange way, holding it tightly at the base with both hands, the tip pointing towards the ground. Facing the spiders' renewed charge, he remained calm, a slightly unrestrained smile on his face, and loudly uttered the spell that terrified countless people.

"Avada Kedavra!"

A dazzling green light burst forth from the wand, and the Death Curse, upon touching the ground, strangely did not dissipate. The beam of light scattered into streams, flowing lightly across the ground like water, centered on Professor Fox's position, and instantly covering the entire spider swarm!

Apart from the sound of raindrops falling on the leaves, everything suddenly became quiet.

Thousands upon thousands of giant spiders collapsed helplessly to the ground like puppets with broken strings.

Dirty mud splashed up and landed on the spiders' lifeless compound eyes.

Professor Fox strolled among the spider carcasses, continuing forward without any intention of looking back.

Rain and darkness engulfed him; only the spider corpses scattered on the ground proved that a fierce battle had just taken place here.

……

Hagrid hadn't run far when he realized that Fox wasn't following at all.

Being deceived again enraged him so much that he smashed a small tree next to him, and then rushed back without hesitation.

Although Fox lied to him twice, he was not the kind of person who would abandon a friend.

However, when Hagrid returned the way he came, he found that the path back had been blocked by a large amount of spider webs.

Hagrid cast several fire spells on the spider web, but they were extinguished by the rain before they could even catch fire, which greatly annoyed him.

Ultimately, Hagrid had no choice but to return to the castle to send out the message first.

Just as he was about to turn back to Hogwarts, a thick stick suddenly struck the back of his neck!

Hagrid felt a sharp pain, his vision went black, and he almost fainted.

He roared and turned around, intending to punch the murderer in the head.

But he only had time to see the person's face before he was hit with a second blow.

This time Hagrid couldn't hold on any longer; he was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground, collapsing into the mud.

The attacker dropped the wooden club in his hand, his face cold and numb. He took a step forward, ignoring the unconscious Hagrid, and turned to leave.
