Chapter 64. Luring the Snake Out of its Hole (Seeking Recommendations)

Lynn and Ian have broken up.

The entire Hogwarts community witnessed their conflict in the Great Hall.

Lynn stayed at Hogwarts' infirmary for two consecutive days before Pomfrey finally cured all the curses on him.

"You little rascals are really bold, daring to cast spells in the Great Hall. Professor McGonagall has already been lenient with your punishment."

Ian's injuries were much less severe than Lynn's, and he was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon.

Hearing Mrs. Pomfrey's words, Lynn had nothing to say. After expressing his gratitude, he left the school hospital.

Even though the bumps on her body had disappeared, Lynn still unconsciously scratched her back from time to time.

He and Ian were clearly acting, but to make it more realistic, they took it all too seriously; they were both genuinely under the curse.

Such a trick is actually quite superficial. Anyone who knows him or Ian even slightly, if they just use their brains, will know that this conflict is completely unlike what they would do.

Furthermore, based on the previous two attacks, the perpetrators chose to strike when Dumbledore was not at Hogwarts. However, given the recent events, it's highly unlikely that Old Bee will venture out again. Therefore, it's questionable whether the perpetrators will dare to launch another attack.

However, it was precisely because Dumbledore was at Hogwarts that Lynn dared to let Ian accompany him in this play; otherwise, he wouldn't have dared to risk Ian's safety.

Lynn has no other choice now.

He noticed that the system's reward for this mission was quite unusual; the name of the talent, "Inherited Bloodline," made Lynn suspicious of his current origins.

This talent wasn't given to him by the system. The task reward clearly states that the reward is "Unlock Talent: Inherited Bloodline".

Just like his previous physical talent, he already possessed this talent. The system's reward was simply to unlock the talent's value, allowing him to see the talent's stats and potentially add points to it.

The talents directly rewarded by the system, such as the Disguise Magus he obtained from Professor Fox, are different.

This talent was something he didn't originally possess. Although the talent was usable after being awarded by the system, it wasn't quantified, meaning there was no way to allocate points to it.

Inheriting bloodline, just like the name of this talent, must be related to bloodline.

Lynn had always believed that her parents in this life were Muggles.

He has a completely normal identity in the UK. His parents, who supposedly died in a car accident, are executives of a company. They own a car and a house in the modern city of London. Even when Lynn first transmigrated and was in the orphanage, his parents' colleagues came to visit him.

This gave Lynn the illusion that his two adoptive parents were just ordinary Muggles.

Otherwise, given the prejudice wizards hold against Muggles, even wizards from Muggle families would find it difficult to live a normal life after entering the wizarding world.

But now, Lynn feels that things are unlikely to be that simple.

From his extremely high initial dark magic talent to his current inherited bloodline talent, Lynn has shown that he is not the "lowly" mud-blooded person that pure-blood wizards initially thought he was.

So, what position does the murderer, who is clearly inextricably linked to him, occupy?

There were too few clues available for him to guess.

However, this performance by him and Ian was just an experiment for Lynn.

The day when the results were finally obtained seemed rather long.

After the conflict, Lynn stopped eating at the Ravenclaw long table with Ian Cedric.

He returned to the Slytherin table, and Betty, the prefect, didn't seem to have given up after he friend-zoned her; she still tried to get closer to him every day.

But after learning of her treacherous ambitions, Lynn tried to avoid too much contact with her, lest the girl become more and more entangled.

Two weeks passed, and on the surface, Lynn and Ian seemed to have completely broken up and never speak to each other again. But in reality, except when Ian was in the lounge, Lynn was always secretly following him.

Ian was very cooperative. If he and Lynn had different classes at the same time, he would try to be with the junior wizards in the same house. When Lynn had time to follow him, he would deliberately stay away from the crowd and always wander around in secluded corners.

For the past two weeks, the castle has been peaceful and quiet, nothing has happened, and even Lynn has not found anyone suspicious while tracking Ian.

Just when Lynn thought that the murderer had seen through his little trick, or that with Dumbledore in charge at Hogwarts, he wouldn't dare to make a move, the unexpected happened that Saturday evening.

At dinner time, Ian, as usual, finished the last sausage and got up to walk out of the auditorium.

"Campbell, are you going for a walk in the castle again today?" asked a young Ravenclaw wizard.

Ian nodded indifferently: "Yes."

The young wizard shook his head regretfully and said, "The gatekeeper has changed to a new riddle today. We were hoping you would be the first to solve it, but since you're going for a walk, I guess you won't have the chance."

"I'm not really interested in solving puzzles." He was quite indifferent, and the Ravenclaws were used to his temper, so they didn't feel offended.

Ian left the auditorium alone.

It looks like they really want to take a walk in the castle to digest their meal.

At the Slytherin table, Lynn glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw Ian finish his meal and leave the table. He then drank the last sip of pumpkin juice and stood up from the table.

He deliberately dawdled, and only after Ian had left the auditorium did he slowly walk out.

Lynn didn't stay hanging behind Ian the whole time; he kept a distance of more than 100 meters between them.

At this distance, inside the castle, he had no way of seeing Ian, but their route had been planned in advance.

Although neither of them could see each other, they walked one in front of the other, ensuring that Lynn would know immediately if there was any movement ahead and could rush over as quickly as possible.

They circled Hogwarts Castle along the usual route, but nothing happened.

Just as Ian reached the door of an abandoned cellar beneath the castle, a place where little wizards rarely came, and was about to return to the lounge empty-handed, just like the previous days,

An unexpected turn of events occurred!

A short, ugly, and old creature suddenly appeared beside him with a "snap!"

Its gaze toward Ian was filled with hatred and anger, and then it stretched out its long, bony index finger toward him!

Ian pressed himself against the wall, a rare hint of tension appearing on his usually icy expression. He stared intently at the creature he had never seen before and shouted sharply.

"Who are you! What do you want!"

Lynn, who was not far away, heard Ian's shout. His expression changed immediately, and he rushed towards Ian's location!

Actually, I planted quite a few foreshadowing elements, and none of you guessed them.
