86. Hermione's Amazing Day
Miss Granger was a little angry.
She wandered around the neighbor's yard for a long time, but the yard was still the same yard, and the furnishings were still the same. There was no sign that anyone had been there.
"Liar!" she muttered to herself.
It was already the second day of summer vacation, but Lynn still hadn't returned.
After leaving Lynn's house, she was still angry and kicked a tree in front of the door again.
"You big liar!"
As if kicking Lynn herself, she kicked the poor little tree a few more times before finally returning home satisfied.
After she left, Kira's ugly head peeked out from the second floor of Lynn's house, next to a small head with fluffy white hair.
"She seems really angry with Lynn," Umaru said, puzzled.
Kira turned and glared at her.
"I told you not to steal food from your little master's room. If she finds out, it will cause trouble for her."
Despite being scolded a lot, Umaru still held her head in a wronged state.
"But, but those snacks are almost expired. It would be such a waste to throw them away if we didn't eat them soon."
"Then you can't eat it either. Eating it without the little master's permission is stealing!"
"Oh dear! Stupid Kira! Bad Kira!"
……
Hermione had no idea what had happened at the Lynn family after she left. When she returned home, Mrs. Granger had just finished preparing lunch.
"Even if you've already been accepted into St. Paul's Girls' School, you can't go out and have fun now. You disappeared early this morning and only just came back now."
"I know," Hermione replied listlessly to Mrs. Granger's scolding.
Mr. Granger was reading the newspaper on the sofa, and could only smile helplessly at the conversation between the mother and daughter.
"Where would you like to go this summer? As a reward, you can decide our travel destination this year."
"Of course I can go anywhere..." She rested her chin on the table and stared blankly out the window.
Suddenly, an owl flapping its wings and landing on her windowsill caught her attention.
The owl gently pecked at the glass with its sharp beak, which also attracted the attention of the Grangers.
"What is this?" Mr. Granger frowned and walked to the window.
Hermione was a little nervous. She thought it was a letter from Lynn, but she didn't know how to tell her parents.
After all, sending letters with an owl is quite unique.
While she was struggling with her decision, Mr. Granger had already opened the window and received a thick stack of envelopes from the owl.
"A letter delivered by an owl?" he exclaimed in surprise.
Hermione ran to his side, tiptoed, and peered at the envelope.
"Is it for me?"
The top of the envelope contained an acceptance letter.
"Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," Mr. Granger read out the school's name.
"A magic academy?" he raised his voice.
Hermione turned pale when she heard him read the contents of the letter, which clearly wasn't from Lynn.
She recalled Lynn's words.
"They are an evil organization that specifically targets people with superpowers like you and me, then coerces and entices them to work for them."
"Hermione, I will do my best to conceal your existence within the organization, so that you can continue to live this peaceful and happy life."
Now the time has come, but Lynn has not returned, and this evil organization has disguised itself as a magic academy to send her an acceptance letter!
This made Hermione wonder what Lynn was going through now, and what she would go through later.
At this point, Mr. Granger pulled out the next letter and read it:
"Potentials Professor Severus Snape will be visiting at 4 p.m. on July 3rd."
"Dad!" Hermione suddenly screamed.
"Let's go to Grandma's house today!"
Mr. Granger saw that Hermione seemed frightened and comforted her.
"Don't be afraid, he's just a liar. We'll just wait for him at home and see if this self-proclaimed professor of the magic academy dares to come this afternoon."
Hermione didn't know how to persuade her father. The matter of magic was too bizarre, and her own superpowers were unreliable, so there was no way to prove it to her parents.
The Granger family finished their lunch without much enjoyment, and then stayed home quietly, waiting.
Mr. Granger also found a baseball bat he used when he was young in the storeroom, which he used as a deterrent.
Four o'clock in the afternoon.
The Grangers' doorbell rang precisely on time, and Mr. Granger instructed his daughter and wife.
"You all stay seated and don't move. I'll go take a look."
He opened the living room door, revealing only a tiny crack.
A middle-aged man in a black robe was standing outside. He was pale and had greasy hair.
Yeah, you can tell at a glance that he definitely doesn't have a wife.
Snape saw the cautious Mr. Granger and didn't seem surprised. Many Muggle families have parents like that, and they're basically like that until they've seen real magic.
"Hello, I am Severus S...", the Potions professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"Bang!"
Snape: "..."
Well, he was wrong; he had never been treated so rudely before.
Snape took a deep breath and knocked on the door again with a dark expression.
This time, no one opened the door for him; only Mr. Granger's threatening voice could be heard from inside.
"I'm warning you! We won't believe a liar like you. If you keep bothering us, I'm calling the police!"
They love their daughter dearly, so they're just a bit more cautious than the average family. That's understandable.
Snape consoled himself.
He stopped knocking and used a lock-picking spell to push the door open and go inside.
When he came in, the Granger family's expressions changed, and Mr. Granger raised his baseball bat to block his daughter and wife.
"Who let you in! You're trespassing on my private property! I have the right to attack you!"
Snape waved his wand helplessly, turning the baseball bat in Mr. Granger's hand into a balloon.
"Now you can believe me, right?"
The Grangers stared in disbelief at the balloon that had been a baseball bat just a second before.
Their gazes toward Snape began to turn skeptical, after all, the facts were right before their eyes.
Just then, Hermione suddenly shouted.
"You're lying! You're not a magic academy at all, but an evil organization that specializes in capturing children with superpowers!"
Snape stared at Hermione in astonishment.
"Who told you that?"
Hermione wiped away her tears and questioned loudly.
"What did you do to Lynn? Why didn't he come back! Did you think he was useless, so you killed him?!"
Snape's face was as black as the bottom of a pot.
He knew who was behind it all.
