Chapter 5, Tang Dynasty in Another World

Chapter 5 Douluo Continent, Tang San in Another World (Part 4)

Tang San didn't want to lose his father, and he didn't want anyone to know about his past. So, naturally, he wouldn't tell Tang Hao that it was because he was practicing the Xuan Yu Hand technique of the Tang Sect.

To master hidden weapons, the most basic requirement is the integration of eyesight, hand strength, and mental focus. As the saying goes, "Where the mind goes, the eyes follow; where the eyes go, the hands follow." Therefore, the training methods of the Tang Clan's inner sect place extremely high demands on eyesight and hand strength.

The Purple Demon Eye, cultivated during the brief moment when the purple aura rises from the east at sunrise, greatly enhances eyesight.

The Jade Hand can make the palm extremely tough and isolate any toxins.

These two abilities are compulsory courses for inner disciples of the Tang Sect. Although Tang San's Xuan Yu Hand is far from perfect, he can still protect his palms from getting blisters.

"Just a little more effort, and we'll finish today." Tang San swung the iron hammer with all his might, but his heart was far from calm amidst the monotonous process. His understanding of this world was still very basic; after all, this was just a small village.

This world is called Douluo Continent. On the continent, there are two great empires, or rather, two alliances. Within these two great empires, vast territories are divided among feudal lords, and countless nobles possess armed forces.

One of these two empires is the Heaven Dou Empire, where Tang San is located, and the other is the Star Luo Empire in the south.

The Fasno Province is located at the border between the two countries, and Notting City, next to Holy Soul Village, is less than two hundred miles away from the Star Luo Empire.

Tang San learned from the villagers' conversations that in the Douluo Continent, there were no martial arts like those of his own world, but there was something called a Martial Soul. It was said that everyone possessed their own Martial Soul, and a very small percentage of these Martial Souls could be cultivated, forming a profession called Soul Master. The highest-ranking profession on the entire continent was that of a Soul Master. The legendary Soul Saint who emerged from Holy Soul Village a hundred years ago was a Soul Master; Soul Saint was a title awarded to Soul Masters at a certain level.

Martial Souls are divided into two main categories: Weapon Martial Souls and Beast Martial Souls. As the names suggest, those whose Martial Soul is a weapon are Weapon Martial Souls, and those whose Martial Soul is an animal are Beast Martial Souls. Relatively speaking, Weapon Martial Souls have a broader scope, and most people possess Weapon Martial Souls. Furthermore, the proportion of Weapon Martial Souls that cannot be cultivated is also greater than that of Beast Martial Souls.

Tang San once saw a villager whose martial soul was a hoe, which was obviously a martial soul that could not be cultivated. However, even so, he was still faster than the ordinary villagers when plowing the land.

This was all Tang San knew, because everyone has their own Martial Soul, and Tang San also wanted to know what his Martial Soul was. Was it a weapon Martial Soul or a beast Martial Soul, and could it be cultivated?

In the Douluo Continent, people awaken their martial souls at the age of six. In a few days, Tang San will be six years old. For some reason, he vaguely felt that the reason why his Xuan Tian Gong could not break through seemed to be related to his martial soul.

Tang San wasn't particularly interested in becoming a Soul Master, but he aspired to become a hidden weapon master at the inner level of the Tang Sect, so how could he do without internal energy?

"Tang Hao, busy?" Just as Tang San was working hard towards his goal of ten thousand forging attempts, he heard an old voice coming from outside.

It was afternoon, and Tang Hao was working, making farm tools. Hearing this, he simply hummed in response.

Tang San walked out of his room with some curiosity and saw an old man who looked to be in his sixties. He was tall and thin, but vigorous, with clean and tidy clothes and neatly combed hair. Compared to Tang Hao, he was the complete opposite.

Tang San recognized this person; he was Elder Jack, the village elder of Holy Soul Village.

"Little San, come here, let Grandpa take a look." Old Jack waved to Tang San.

The village chief was a kind man, and everyone in the village respected him. A few years ago, when Tang San's family was going through the most difficult time, he brought them a lot of food.

"Grandpa Jack, hello." Tang San walked up to old Jack and bowed respectfully. Tang San always remembered those who were kind to him.

Tang Hao said coldly, "What is it, Village Chief?" Old Jack was actually less than ten years older than him, but he insisted on being a generation above him, which always made Tang Hao somewhat unhappy.

Old Jack seemed to have gotten used to Tang Hao's attitude. "Tang Hao, Xiao San is almost six years old now. He should participate in this year's awakening ceremony as well."

Tang Hao glanced at Tang San and said calmly, "Then let's participate. Which day?"

Old Jack said, "It will be in three days. I'll come pick him up then." He looked at Tang Hao and clearly meant that if he relied on Tang Hao to take him, it would probably cause a delay.

Tang Hao nodded and then ignored the village chief.

Tang San asked with some curiosity, "Grandpa Jack, what is the Awakening Ritual?"

Old Jack said solemnly, "Each of us has our own Martial Soul, and we undergo an awakening ceremony around the age of six. Having a Martial Soul enhances certain abilities. Even the most ordinary Martial Soul will be helpful. If you happen to possess an outstanding Martial Soul that you can cultivate, then you might even become a Soul Master. The awakening ceremony only happens once a year, and I can't let you miss it. It's the deacon from the Notting City Martial Soul Branch Hall who is personally helping the children in our village awaken. That deacon is a Great Soul Master level Soul Master."

When Jack mentioned the words "Great Soul Master," a look of envy was clearly visible in his eyes.

Tang San only had a vague understanding of Soul Masters, having heard a few things before. Seizing the opportunity, he naturally wouldn't let it slip by easily, and pressed on, asking, "What does 'Great Soul Master' mean?"
