Chapter 59 Father's Message

Chapter 59 Father's Message (Part Two)

"A fox spirit? What's that?" Xiao Wu asked curiously. [Google Search]

Tang San laughed and said, "It's a kind of spirit beast that has become a spirit, specifically designed to seduce men."

Xiao Wu was stunned for a moment, and her gaze towards Tang San suddenly became strange. In an instant, her emotions suddenly became agitated. "Go to hell! How dare you call me a fox spirit! I challenge you to a duel!" As she spoke, she jumped off her bed, baring her teeth and claws, and pounced on Tang San.

The other work-study students were already used to this scene. The playful fights between Sister Xiaowu and Tang San were commonplace for them. If the two didn't fight a few times, they might feel uncomfortable.

The next morning, when Tang San set off, he was accompanied by a bouncy little girl wearing the Notting Academy uniform. They left Notting City and headed towards Holy Soul Village.

The past year had been extremely fulfilling and satisfying for Tang San. He had broken through the bottleneck of the first level of the Mysterious Heaven Skill, and through his diligent cultivation, the skill had made significant progress. According to his own calculations, he should now have reached the upper-middle stage of the second level, which, based on his soul power, should be around level sixteen to seventeen.

In the academy, only Xiao Wu could rival him in soul power. Although Xiao Wu hadn't been seen cultivating much, their soul power was always very close, with Tang San sometimes having a slight advantage and Xiao Wu sometimes surpassing him. Although they were both children, neither of them would admit defeat, making these sparring matches inevitable.

At first, Xiao Chenyu and Wang Sheng, the senior students, would occasionally join in, but as Tang San and Xiao Wu's soul power increased rapidly, no one bothered them anymore. After all, who would want to become a punching bag?

Therefore, although Xiao Wu is nominally the leader of all the students in Notting, in reality, Xiao Chenyu and the others would also call Tang San "Little Third Brother".

In sparring with Xiao Wu, Tang San always suffered more losses than victories. Xiao Wu's attack methods were endless, especially her soft techniques, which felt like mochi. If neither of them relied on the power of their spirit rings, Tang San would almost certainly lose. Even with spirit rings, relying on the binding and paralyzing effects of the Blue Silver Grass, he could at best fight Xiao Wu to a draw.

As for Tang San's secret practice of hidden weapons, he didn't use them in the sparring. One reason was that hidden weapons were too lethal and could easily injure someone; another was that he hoped to hone his close-combat skills through sparring with Xiao Wu. Perhaps because the two were sparring partners, they improved at the same pace. The academy's teachers had already given up on interfering. In Notting, although Tang San and Xiao Wu were only first-year students, they had already become renowned geniuses of the academy.

"How much further?" Xiao Wu asked casually, looking around.

"Almost there. See that mountain over there? Our Holy Soul Village is at its foot." Tang San couldn't help but feel excited as he approached home. If it weren't for the Notting Academy's rule requiring students to return to the academy at night and the daily room checks by teachers, Tang San might have already gone home to see his father. "It's been a year, Dad, how are you?"

Perhaps because he was an orphan in his previous life, Tang San cherishes this family bond even more in this life.

He touched the Twenty-Four Bridges Under the Moon at his waist, where he found the forging hammer he had brought for his father, brand-new clothes, and even a few bottles of good wine.

The small mountain village where he had lived for six years was finally in sight, and for some reason, a strange emotion began to surface in Tang San's heart. If he had to describe it in one sentence, he would say, "It feels so good to have a home." Even if this home only consisted of himself and his father.

Soon, the two entered Holy Soul Village. Tang San's house was at the entrance of the village. Pointing to the dilapidated sign on the roof, Tang San smiled at Xiao Wu and said, "Look, that's my house."

With his home in sight, Tang San's heart began to race with excitement. He quickened his pace and rushed to his doorstep.

The door was left open as when he left, which was always Tang Hao's habit. After all, there wasn't much to steal from his blacksmith shop.

"Dad, I'm back!" Tang San shouted excitedly.

Xiao Wu had never seen Tang San like this before. Standing behind him, she watched him with some curiosity. In her memory, Tang San was a rather gentle friend. He didn't talk much, but he always seemed so busy, always having something to do. Only during sparring sessions could she see his serious side. And even when he lost to her, she had never seen him show anger or agitation.

As he called out, Tang San strode inside.

Everything seemed unchanged. The blacksmith shop was still as messy as ever, even more so than before he left. A jumble of things were scattered all over the place, and the dilapidated atmosphere gave him a sense of warmth and familiarity.

"Oh, Xiao San, it's you back." A gentle voice rang out. A person walked out from the inner room.

Upon seeing him, Tang San was taken aback. "Grandpa Jack, you're here too! Where's my dad?"

The one who came out was Elder Jack from Holy Soul Village. He had a wry smile on his face and handed a piece of paper to Tang San, saying, "Take a look. This is what your father left behind. I came to find him this morning, intending to have him come with me to pick you up, but I didn't expect you to be back already."

A sense of tension arose in Tang San's heart, and he quickly took the paper that Old Jack handed him and looked down at it.

The paper contained only a few simple lines of text, the handwriting somewhat messy, yet it could not conceal its bold and unrestrained spirit.
