Chapter 61 Father's Message (Part 4)

Bang! The door slammed shut, and Tang Hao's tall figure vanished. (Due to caching issues, please access the website directly through your browser for the fastest chapter updates.) Staring at the door, the master stood there for a long time without making a move.

After a long while, he slowly lowered his head, his gaze falling on the token, a bitter smile appearing on his lips. "I never imagined that my idol would turn out like this."

……

As the sun began to set, two petite figures sat side by side in front of the blacksmith's shop, dressed in identical clothes, sitting quietly.

The afterglow of the sun, tinged with a faint red, fell upon them, as if branding their bodies with a ring of golden-red.

The girl on the left turned her head to look at the boy, resting her hands on her chin, as if she wanted to say something, but she ultimately held back.

It was the boy who spoke, holding a brand-new foundry hammer in his hand. "Xiao Wu, thank you."

"What are you thanking me for?" Xiao Wu asked curiously.

"Thank you for always being there for me." Tang San lowered his head, looking at the ground beneath his feet. His eyes were somewhat unfocused and hazy, but he ultimately did not let any tears fall.

Xiao Wu chuckled and gave Tang San's shoulder a hard shove, almost knocking him over. "Don't be upset. Your father is only leaving temporarily. You'll meet again someday. Perhaps his departure is just to help you grow stronger and more resilient. If you continue like this, wouldn't you be letting him down?"

Tang San gave a bitter smile. "Perhaps so, but why won't he let me see him one last time? Xiao Wu, do you know, Dad is my only family. Without Dad, this house is no longer a home."

Xiao Wu shook her head, tossing her long scorpion braid in front of her. "Even without a father, you still have me as your friend. If you really want to find a relative, I don't mind being your older sister. Come on, call me 'Sister Xiao Wu.' Everyone calls me that, except you."

Looking at Xiao Wu's charming appearance and her rosy cheeks bathed in the afterglow of the setting sun, Tang San couldn't help but smile. When someone is at their most vulnerable, having someone by their side is always a wonderful thing.

"If you'd like to be my sister, I won't object. If I remember correctly, we're the same age, but you seem to be a few months younger than me. I was born in January, and you were born in August, right?"

"Don't even think about it. I'll only be the older sister, not the younger sister." Xiao Wu raised her hand and smacked Tang San on the head in annoyance.

Tang San flashed forward and stood three meters away from Xiao Wu. "Xiao Wu, come up the mountain with me. I'll show you something."

Tang San looked very serious, as if he had made a decision.

Xiao Wu stopped playing around and nodded at him with a look of obedience on her face.

Tang San took Xiao Wu's soft little hand and ran towards the hill outside the village. Their shadows gradually lengthened on the ground under the setting sun.

Tang San carried Xiao Wu all the way to the top of the mountain before stopping. Even with the Xuan Tian Gong fully activated, he couldn't help but be slightly out of breath.

Standing atop the mountain, facing the setting sun, Tang San's eyes were already filled with purple light. "Xiao Wu, this is where I used to practice my skills. I have a serious question for you, and I hope you can answer it seriously."

Xiao Wu pursed her lips. "Do you know that you look a lot like those old men in the academy right now?"

Tang San slowly turned around and looked at Xiao Wu earnestly, "Would you like to be my sister? I really hope to have another family member."

Xiao Wu was about to say something when Tang San stopped her. "Let me finish. I have nothing. You've seen my family's situation; I'm just a poor commoner. I can't give you wealth or power. You were also born with full soul power, but you're different from me. I can tell you have a story behind your background. But I've never asked because I'm afraid the difference in our backgrounds will be too great, and we won't even be able to be friends. However, I really hope to have a sister like you. Although I can't give you what nobles have, I can give you my promise. I will always protect my sister and never let her suffer any harm."

Seeing Tang San's tearful eyes, Xiao Wu's eyes gradually reddened. "What if one day, many people want to kill me, and you can't defeat them?"

A faint smile suddenly appeared on Tang San's face. "Then let them step over my corpse first."

Xiao Wu fell silent, and Tang San didn't speak again. The red of the setting sun gradually faded, and the stars in the sky were quietly emerging.

"Brother." Xiao Wu broke the silence between the two with a simple word.

The tears he had been holding back finally streamed down his face. Tang San's hands trembled as he took Xiao Wu's hand and said, "Thank you, little sister."

His father was gone, but he had a younger sister. Tang San looked up at the sky and silently made a lifelong vow to the stars.

As night fell, the two children sat on the mountaintop, feeling the gentle mountain breeze and gazing at the stars and moon in the sky. The tranquil atmosphere and fresh air brought them a sense of comfort.

"Can I not call you brother?" Xiao Wu turned to look at Tang San beside her.

Tang San was taken aback. "Why?"

A blush crept onto Xiao Wu's face. "How should I put it? I'm the leader of all the students at Notting. What will they think of me if I suddenly have another older brother?"

Tang San laughed, "Alright, you can still call me Little San then. As long as I know you're my sister, what does it matter what I call you?"

As he spoke, Tang San raised his hand, pulled down his sleeve, and removed the hidden arrow from his left wrist.

"We've become sworn siblings. I don't have anything valuable, so I'll give you this for self-defense. It's my first creation."

Xiao Wu looked curiously at the hidden arrow Tang San handed her. "What's this?"
