Full-Time Magician: Demon Mage

Chapter 221 Deathly Red Light

For the next few days, Wang Teng chose to explore during the day, not only the outer and inner perimeters, but also the entire core area.

They received an unexpected piece of information: most of the demons had disappeared during the day, and the terrain was now flat sand.

What he saw and heard that night truly felt like a dream, even the area where the desert red ants nested. He circled around several times, but the crater had vanished.

"Is this land alive?"

Wang Teng returned to the resource market at the tunnel entrance, randomly found a tavern to sit and think, and an absurd idea popped into his head.

In order to find out the situation, he did not choose the night, but rather the daytime, wanting to see what the demon empire would look like during the day.

So, after several days, they explored the entire area but found nothing. As for landing on the ground to use spatial fluctuations to probe the underground, they decided against it.

There are definitely many demons stronger than him in this desert, and it's possible that some of them are skilled in spatial manipulation. If he does this, it's like testing his life. If he encounters one of those demons, a sneak attack could kill him.

"Let's see what happens when day turns into night today, it's really something to look forward to..."

In order not to spoil the anticipation, he suppressed his curiosity and completed the daytime exploration first, which would better satisfy his curiosity.

As dusk approached, Wang Teng glanced at the sky and decided it was about time, so he left the tavern, passed through the tunnel entrance, and headed towards the desert.

Half an hour later, he entered the desert again and reached the edge of the core area, nearly a thousand kilometers away from the city. This was a very deep location. He was three hundred meters in the air, slowly waiting for the sun to set.

Wang Teng was completely absorbed in watching the sun gradually disappear until it vanished entirely, plunging the land into darkness.

Suddenly, the world underwent a strange change. Wang Teng, who was 300 meters in the air, felt a moment of mental disorientation, not knowing whether it was a second or a minute.

When he suddenly came to his senses, the scene before him shocked him, as if he had returned to the past. The earth was uneven and all kinds of demons appeared in groups.

The earth was dyed in various colors by the demonic power overflowing from all kinds of demons, and even the sky turned into night.

As you move from near to far, the different areas shrouded in night present different scenes; closer to the outer edge, it resembles a scene just after sunset.

Heading towards the core area, it seemed to be well past midnight. It was so dark that he couldn't see anything in that area, and even with his eyesight, he couldn't make out anything. An invisible barrier was interfering with his vision.

"What...just happened?"

Wang Teng's face was solemn as he tried hard to recall the events, but he didn't come up with anything. In just a moment, the world suddenly changed.

The affected area extends to the core area and areas near the edge of the core area.

Such a transformative method must involve spatial transformation, but he was momentarily dazed, and it seemed that he was interfered with by some unknown factor during the scene transition.

This meant he had no time to concentrate or pay attention to changes in his surroundings.

To find out why, he headed outwards, and as he moved away from the inner core area, the surrounding environment was changing.

The quicksand began to move, creating various basins filled with intense demonic energy, as demons were reshaping the terrain.

The entire desert landscape was no longer flat, but became pitted and uneven, and various plant monsters began to appear. The red light that flashed across the desert was the desert red ant.

The light would disappear from time to time, and the demons lurking underground would ambush it and eat it.

He quickly teleported around the outer perimeter, and within a short hour, he had roughly surveyed the entire outer area.

Compared to the sudden changes in the core area, the outer area, where various demonic groups are altering the environment, is not as mysterious or eerie.

This relieved him. Even the methods of an emperor have their limits, and the affected area was limited to the core area and the surrounding area.

However, because of this, he lost interest in exploring the outer areas, and even the inner areas no longer aroused his interest.

After all, the density and strength of demons in the outer areas are not too high, and the resources have already been plundered. The resources that cannot be plundered may be deep underground, and there is nothing he can do about it.

In the inner area, even high-level monster-hunting teams with some strength, or even teams led by super-level monsters, can explore a bit. Even if they leave behind resources, there won't be many good items.

We've returned to the edge of the inner core area, the boundary of a region where the scene has drastically changed.

Looking at the hordes of demons scattered everywhere below, Wang Teng began to cautiously explore the edge of the core area.

The earth here is entirely black, even exuding a chilling, eerie power, a stark contrast to the sun-baked white sand during the day.

Three hours later, Wang Teng was disappointed again. After walking around, he didn't see any resources, only wandering demons.

"Try underground!"

Wang Teng became ruthless, chose a slightly less crowded area, and quickly landed on the ground. Spatial fluctuations burst forth beneath his feet, instantly penetrating the earth and spreading downwards.

In order not to disturb the nearby demons, he suppressed the area, and soon the fluctuations in space presented him with a sensory map of the underground world.

Hundreds of meters underground, the area is filled with various caves. This land exerts a strong pressure on space, and the spread of his spatial fluctuations is restricted!

In other areas, one could explore thousands of meters deep in a short time. Whether there are resources or not, one would know immediately if there were any cavities or caves.

呲味味味味味...

Just as Wang Teng was preparing to take the next step, a red light, accompanied by a violent shriek, left a trail of flames tens of meters long in its wake, as if it were about to burn through the void!

A sense of impending death washed over him, and Wang Teng's pupils constricted. In an instant, he recognized the creature—the demon he had met once before, the leader of the desert red ants!

A powerful demon skilled in spatial exploration, whose strength reaches the level of a supreme monarch!

"Damn, was this guy stalking me all along?"

Wang Teng's figure disappeared, and the intense red light arrived at this location, penetrating space and passing by in an instant!

Boom boom boom boom boom boom...

The entire world erupted with demonic energy! The red light teleported to its end, stretching for a kilometer from start to finish, taking shape in the blink of an eye.

The kinetic energy accumulated in the red light exploded with a deafening roar! The sound, comparable to thunder, spread hundreds of meters away from the red light as its axis!

This created a fire track that is one kilometer long and several hundred meters wide!

The demons along the path were smashed to pieces, and the intense flames burned the earth into a molten lava. The weaker demons were either killed or severely injured.

Squeak squeak squeak...

The leader of the desert red ants flaps six pairs of crystal-like red wings and drags a red and black metallic body that is more than twenty meters long. Its whole body exudes a sharp aura, as if it were a machine born for killing.

His eyes, glowing red with a chilling killing intent, stared at the path of flames he had created, especially the spot where that strange demon stood.
