Chapter 7 focuses on Han Li's sincerity and the establishment of the master-disciple relationship.
Han Li looked closely and saw a young man dressed in a light gray robe standing in front of the bed, looking at him with a faint smile on his lips.
Light gray clothing would normally make a person look older, but when paired with various small accessories, it creates a very glamorous overall style.
Han Li narrowed his eyes, a thought flashing through his mind as he noticed the key elements: luxurious clothing, a young face, and someone who had appeared here so unexpectedly. He subconsciously glanced at the newcomer's left eye and noticed a faint glimpse of icy blue light peeking through the area hidden by a few strands of silver hair.
Is this the Light Feather Douluo?
Han Li's reaction was incredibly swift. As his mind raced, he sheathed his twin swords, straightened up decisively, and bowed respectfully, saying, "Greetings, Master."
This time, it was Guangling's turn to be stunned. His handsome face twitched involuntarily. Looking at the child standing on the bed, bowing and calling him "Teacher," he didn't know how to respond. To be honest, with his more than eighty years of life experience, he really hadn't expected their first meeting to be like this.
His elder brother had warned him not to take his anger out on children, but he was indeed preparing to give this kid a hard time. He could understand his opportunistic behavior, but it had also affected his elder brother. If it were just about himself, Guangling might not care, but it was unacceptable for the Angel lineage to be affected; this was a principle he had always believed in.
"Get up first, I haven't said I'd take you as my disciple yet."
Guangling quickly realized what was happening and impatiently waved her hand, signaling him to get off the bed first.
"it is good."
Han Li cleanly and neatly put on his shoes and got out of bed, standing in front of Guang Ling, who was already sitting at the table, pouring himself a glass of water and drinking it.
"Before coming here, I went to the Spirit Hall to inquire about the situation. I heard that the final annotation was your suggestion?" Guang Ling said, putting down her cup and staring at Han Li.
"Yes, I asked to add it," Han Li replied without hesitation.
"Do you know that the Hall of Worship has suffered losses because of this?" Guangling didn't go into details, but her voice became stern.
"I don't know, and I don't want to know. This is not something I should worry about," Han Li replied unhurriedly, ignoring his tone.
Hearing his matter-of-fact answer, Guangling felt like she'd punched a pillow, a surge of anger rising within her. However, considering his age, she forcibly suppressed her displeasure: "Oh? I'd like to hear why you say that. Your answer will determine my attitude towards you."
"This isn't actually that hard to understand?"
Han Li glanced at Guang Ling, then continued, "Because until now, I'm still a viscount of the Heaven Dou Empire, not a member of the Spirit Hall. I've only awakened my powers; I can even pay for it. What you're saying is like an ordinary person looking for a job—demanding better pay before joining. Isn't that normal?"
"Is it inappropriate for the Spirit Hall to shift the blame onto me, someone who is still an outsider, because of a problem with a document?"
As Guangling watched the little guy in front of him speak so confidently, he couldn't help but put himself in his shoes and nodded repeatedly, finding that what he said did indeed make a lot of sense.
When Han Li stopped speaking, he realized that the child opposite him was observing his expression, his eyes darting around. It was obvious that the child was trying to gauge his reaction; if his expression didn't look right, he would probably change his tune immediately.
He then realized that what the brat said did make some sense, but reasoning with him, a titled Douluo, was really superfluous, because he could completely ignore reason.
But by this point, his anger had subsided, and he no longer had the intention to intimidate him. He also remembered how the brat had called him "teacher" earlier, and he knew perfectly well that this was just another example of the brat's cleverness.
His nature was naturally rather impulsive, and for a moment, looking at the boy opposite him, he felt a bit tempted. If he really had to deal with a well-behaved child in the future, he wasn't sure if he would have enough patience to teach him.
"Alright, you've passed. Now, let's become disciples."
Guangling glanced at the young man opposite her with amusement, and seeing the joy on his face, she shook her head.
"I've met you, teacher."
Han Li strode to the table, poured himself another cup of tea, and respectfully handed it to Guang Ling. He breathed a sigh of relief. Although things had turned out somewhat unexpectedly, he had at least managed to get on the good side of things.
"Hmm." Guangling gave him a satisfied look, took the teacup from his hand, drank it all in one gulp, and then pointed to the chair next to her, "Sit."
Han Li then realized that his back was already a little wet, so he simply turned his chair around, straddled it, put his hands on the back of the chair, and looked directly at Guang Ling.
As he turned around, Guangling also saw the marks on his clothes on the back, and his smile widened. He liked this kid's personality even more. It seemed that he wouldn't be bored in the future.
"You have quite the courage, keep it up," Guangling teased him.
"I'm sorry to have embarrassed you, teacher. I wanted to get a better starting point, so I had to take a gamble. Even if I lose, no one will hold a grudge against a little kid, right?" Han Li replied with an embarrassed smile. He had already achieved his goal, and he would be spending a lot of time with his classmates in the future, so he chose to tell the truth.
"Actually, I'm a little curious. If the Spirit Hall's reaction doesn't meet your expectations, what are you going to do?" Guangling asked casually.
"Four days later, we will head to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School," Han Li answered honestly.
Guangling was speechless, looking at the disciple opposite him, not knowing what to say for a moment.
After a long silence, he continued, "You seem quite clear-headed. It seems I've arrived at just the right time."
"You're so young, yet you already know what you want, that's great. Can you tell me why you think that way?"
For a moment, Han Li felt a sense of déjà vu, as if he were watching "The Voice of China." He gathered his thoughts and said seriously, "This is a world where the strong prey on the weak. I want to become stronger, even if not the strongest, I want to be among the strongest. That way, no one can easily take away what I want."
Guangling smiled as he watched the little kid confidently tell him that he would become the strongest. But when he heard what the kid said next, and thought of the information about his parents mentioned earlier, he fell silent. He wasn't good at comforting people.
Was he missing his parents? Guangling couldn't help but wonder.
As Han Li was speaking, he noticed that Guang Ling suddenly lowered her head, and he couldn't help but feel a little strange. Hmm? Why is Teacher so emo? Did I say something wrong? He swallowed the rest of "Awake, he holds power over the world; drunk, he rests on the lap of a beauty" and shut his mouth.
A wonderful misunderstanding was thus created. It wasn't until years later, after Guangling had been wrongly blamed countless times, that he finally realized how foolish he had been to believe half of what the kid had said.
