In the Apocalypse, I Can Enter Hogwarts

Chapter 103 Thanks to Mr. Granger for working overtime

Chapter 103 Thanks to Mr. Granger for working overtime

After Ian's fabricated explanation, the Grangers finally accepted his Christmas gift.

However, he always felt that Mrs. Granger's gaze towards him held a hint of expectation and admiration. This feeling became even more pronounced after he talked about buying a house during the summer and his future plans.

……

"Merry Christmas! What are you talking about?" Hermione stood on the stairs, still half asleep, wearing a thin white wool sweater.

Before Ian could say anything, Mrs. Granger interrupted, "We were talking about why you slept so late. It's already nine in the morning. Did you have insomnia last night?"

Hermione looked at her mother with a blank expression, suddenly finding her words strange, and said, puzzled, "Don't I usually sleep until after 10 o'clock when I'm on vacation? Are you upset that I'm waking up too early?"

Mrs. Granger suddenly felt exhausted... This child was completely clueless, so she immediately dropped the subject.

"Okay, let's not talk about that anymore. Since you're up, come and have breakfast. We've been waiting for you. You can open the gifts later."

This time Hermione understood and nodded obediently, saying, "Okay, I understand."

……

After breakfast, Mr. Granger received a phone call. His close friend had suddenly developed periodontitis and had to work overtime at his clinic.

Judging from his expression, Mr. Granger seemed genuinely reluctant to work overtime, appearing hesitant and glancing around nervously. Finally, it was Mrs. Granger's stern reprimand that finally forced him to reluctantly leave with his wife.

It is worth mentioning that Mrs. Granger was a part-time nurse at the dental clinic, the kind of person who was indispensable during treatment.

Compared to her husband's reluctance, Mrs. Granger was much more straightforward. She didn't say a word throughout the whole process. Not only did she pull her husband away, but she also winked at her daughter subtly as they parted.

Although Hermione didn't understand what her mother was trying to say, it didn't stop her from being happy at the moment. After all, there was a big difference between being alone with Ian and being with the whole family.

The girl walked up to Ian, handed him a gift box wrapped in brown paper, and said, "Merry Christmas, this is a gift for you."

When Ian opened the package, he found a dark blue cashmere scarf that felt soft to the touch. "Thank you for the gift, I love it."

He then handed Hermione the gift he had prepared beforehand. "I think you should need this book. It was a gift from Headmaster Dumbledore, but I don't need it anymore after I've learned the magic in it."

Books, Headmaster Dumbledore, magic—these words combined made such a gift undeniably irresistible to Hermione's insatiable thirst for knowledge.

Sure enough, Hermione quickly unwrapped the package containing the book, revealing an old, yellowed book with its title clearly written on the cover: "Ancient Magic - Deciphering the Patronus Charm".

Hermione suddenly covered her mouth in surprise. After a long while, the girl looked up at Ian and said, "How did you know I would need this book?"

He didn't seem to take Hermione's question seriously, explaining in a relaxed tone:

"Of course I guessed it, and I caught the look of anticipation and longing on your face when you first saw the phoenix, even though it was fleeting."

As Ian looked at the girl in front of him, he said softly, "Remember to come to me if you need anything in the future. Don't go off to practice on your own. Magic is not a game."

This wasn't a sudden whim of his; rather, the thought of a second-year girl in the original story daring to brew compound decoctions in an abandoned washroom, and having two idiots willing to drink it with her, gave him a headache.

It truly proves the saying "ignorance is bliss." A whole month of brewing time—the complexity of the Compound Herbs is unimaginable. The result? One person actually dared to brew it, and the other two actually dared to drink it… They completely disregarded Snape's feelings…

Fortunately, it succeeded, but as Snape said, many of the damage caused by drinking the wrong potion is irreversible. That's why he added this point now, to prevent Hermione from developing that kind of fearless and adventurous spirit.

Hearing Ian's instructions, Hermione pouted and said in a slightly coquettish tone, "I know, you're even more long-winded than my dad..."

The two sat on the sofa chatting idly, perhaps because dozing off after a meal is human nature. Before long, Ian felt sleepy, partly due to the surrounding environment; the quiet and comfortable atmosphere made him lean back on the sofa and doze off.

Hermione suddenly felt a bit quiet and realized that Ian had fallen asleep, leaning against the sofa. However, she didn't wake him up and just quietly watched Ian as he slept.

Then, as if remembering something, she quietly walked to the side, picked up a cashmere blanket, and covered Ian with it.

After doing all this, she returned to the sofa, opened the book about the Guardian Angel Spell, and quietly began to read it by herself.

About an hour later, the morning sunlight shone through the window screen onto Ian's face, and even with his eyes closed, he could still feel the powerful light of the sun.

He slightly opened his eyes and found that a cashmere blanket had been placed over him without his noticing. He looked forward along the blanket.

Hermione had already taken off her shoes and was sitting cross-legged on the sofa reading quietly. Perhaps the book was really quite heavy, because the girl needed to shake her legs from time to time to readjust the book.

Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but from Ian's angle, he could just see a pair of fair and delicate, pearl-like... In short, he felt a little dizzy from the dazzling sight.

Reluctantly, he reached up and rubbed his eyes. Even this slight movement was noticed by Hermione.

"You're awake! I should have taken a picture of you earlier so you could see how pathetic you look while you're asleep, even drooling..." Hermione said with a laugh.

"No, I don't think so..." Ian touched his lips with a little uncertainty, only to find them clean and without any trace of drool.

"Hahaha, you actually believed it?" Hermione laughed happily, looking like she had successfully pulled off a prank.

Just as Ian was about to say something in retaliation, the landline rang, so Hermione had to answer it.

Hermione didn't come out of the study for about five or six minutes.

"It was Mom who called. She said Uncle Condy's periodontitis is quite serious, so they might not be back until the evening. That means we'll have to take care of our own lunch, but we can just heat up the leftovers from yesterday."

"Leave it to me, it's easy. You know I lived alone for a long time." Ian volunteered to take on the task of making lunch.

Although the presence of the trail prevents minors from using magic outside of school, his culinary skills do not necessarily require magic to be displayed.
