Chapter 43 The Three Monsters Cause Havoc at Hogwarts

Chapter 43 The Three Monsters Cause Havoc at Hogwarts~

Meanwhile, in the basement, three monsters were wreaking havoc along the corridor.

They'd knock over armor, smash statues, tear up paintings, and so on. Even torches and braziers on the wall would get hit with a stick.

The people in the portrait screamed and ran away. Several ladies and women didn't care about anything else and ran wildly, lifting their skirts, revealing their underwear.

Wow, the portraits in the magical world are so detailed! They even have layers? They even drew this! So realistic!

Ansu landed silently on the high, fire-lit relief, where Ted was observing the monsters through its eyes.

These three monsters are all different.

The first one seemed to be a modified version of a giant monster, standing three and a half meters tall, a size larger than a regular giant monster. Its front was pale yellow, and its back was dark blue-black, covered with many wart-like protrusions, like crocodile skin, but with larger bumps, making it look rough and thick-skinned.

This thing's head is only the size of a normal person's, even thinner than its thick neck, making its head, neck, and shoulders look like a triangle.

This makes it look incredibly durable! But it also makes it appear very clumsy, restricting the angle at which its head can turn. It's very inflexible, only able to turn about 60 degrees to the left or right, limiting its field of vision!

It was wielding a huge club and smashing things everywhere. A fully armored creature by the wall was sent flying more than three meters by a single blow, completely dented. It even stomped on it!

This thing's combat power is equivalent to several adult wizards, but judging from its behavior, its intelligence is still so low.

Ted used his identification technique on Ansu, and the result was:

Talent: [Troll Blood (Green)]

……

Evaluation: This modified troll, infused with the blood of an otherworldly troll, has doubled its combat power.

Level 8 overall, that's already the combat level of an ordinary Auror. Most adult wizards can only run away; they can't win in a fight.

Of course, an intelligence level of 3 is a major drawback. It's not much better than a slightly smarter wild animal!

If there was only one monster, Ted wouldn't be worried at all. After all, the upper limit of strength depends on intelligence; no matter how strong you are, if you have low intelligence, you're just a waste.

Ansu tucked his long beak under his wing: My God! What stinks so badly?

Ted quickly severed his olfactory connection with Ansu. In those few seconds, he felt nauseous and almost gagged.

Hermione, seeing Ted clutching his chest, asked with concern, "Ted, are you alright?"

"It's okay, I'm alright, I won't die~"

He didn't know if the troll was naturally this smelly, or if it had become even smellier after Professor Quirrell's modifications; in any case, the stench was practically an area-of-effect attack.

Oh, right, there are two other monsters here too.

The second monster looked like some kind of insect, a combination of a spider and a mantis.

It has a spider-like hindquarters and eight legs, but a mantis-like forequarters, a long neck, a triangular head, and two large swords.

It stands about 1.7 meters tall with its neck held high, and its body is about 2.5 meters long. Its color is strange, a mixture of yellow, green and gray, like camouflage.

If this were in the wild, it would probably be hard to spot, but it's quite conspicuous inside the castle.

……

Evaluation: This is a forced and unnatural attempt to combine and enlarge two insects under the influence of magic; if they survive, it's considered a success.

This monster is much weaker; at level 5, its combat power is equivalent to that of a newly graduated ordinary wizard.

Of course, this is just data on paper. Many wizards have studied for seven years but haven't experienced much combat. When they panic, they can't use any magic at all.

Although it produced Dumbledore and Voldemort, Hogwarts is, after all, also known as the "Secondary School of Magic in Great Britain."

Given the state of Defense Against the Dark Arts class, it's normal for graduates to have weak combat abilities.

But this half-spider, half-mantis is different. Just by looking at its shape and compound eyes, you can tell that it is a cold and ruthless hunting machine.

It doesn't show any mercy or fear; its actual combat strength is much greater.

The last one was much smaller; it was a four-legged mammal.

It looks like a canine or wolf, standing 80 centimeters tall and 1.5 meters long.

However, it has long front legs and short hind legs, walks like an ape with its arms supporting it, and also has some tiger stripes on its body.

Its lower body is grayish, transitioning to a golden yellow color as it moves up to its upper body, and it also has a short, pointed horn on its head.

It's worth noting that it has a huge mouth, with steel teeth that reflect a cold glint. If it were to bite, even armored vehicles would be turned into sieves.

……

Evaluation: The concept is completely incomprehensible. The creator attempted to create a new magical creature using some means, but it seems to have little value.

This monster is much weaker in combat and doesn't have any special abilities.

Even the identification technique didn't give a name, or rather, this thing didn't have a real body to begin with, unlike the previous two which were modifications of the original body.

This thing was created out of thin air, just like a basilisk?

However, since its creator did not name it, it can only be called the Unnamed Horned Beast.

In fact, there are many similar cases. In the magical world, many magical creatures are the products of wizards' experiments.

However, the vast majority of varieties cannot withstand the test of time and die out after only a few generations or even just one generation.

For example, the blasting snails that Hagrid later created through hybridization, if they have no value and cannot reproduce on their own in the wild, will soon become extinct.

Ted decides to call this monster: Quirrell!

Because without a doubt, it's definitely related to Professor Quirrell!

……

"How is it? Did you see what it is?" Harley couldn't help but ask.

Ted extended his hand. "Hold my hand, and I'll show you what I've seen."

The other members were completely bewildered: "Have you been secretly practicing some kind of magic that we don't know about again?"

Five hands were placed on Ted's hands, and Ted used his psychic abilities to transmit the images he saw through Anzu's eyes to them.

This is a new ability that Ted recently developed through research with Ansu.

The connection between magical creatures and wizards is much deeper than many people realize.

Wizards can even cast spells through their magical creatures.

For example, Dumbledore could do many things through Phoenix Fox.

Ted also found himself becoming more and more connected with Ansu, able to understand each other without speaking.

Moreover, during one of his meditations, he even established a connection with Ansu, being able to hear what it heard and see what it saw.

The ability to share inner thoughts with friends is developed through this process.

We still need a helping hand now, but in the future, we might be able to communicate simply by making eye contact.

It's somewhat similar to Legilimency!

Three monsters appeared before the children's eyes.

"Gulp~" Jerry swallowed hard.

"Seems a bit dangerous?" Ron grimaced. His legs went weak when he saw the spider-like insect's legs.

Needless to say, Naveen replied, "Should we go back?"

Looking at that big stick that was almost as tall as him, he worried that he would never have the chance to be scolded by his grandmother again!

Harley disagreed, "We have to try! It's not like we're going to fight them head-on; we have to hold them off and buy the professors some time!"

Hermione calmly asked, "What can we use to stop it? A fire-starting charm? A cutting charm? Our spells probably don't have that kind of power."

This is good news; at least they didn't get carried away and develop the illusion that they could turn the tables.

This age group is exactly the kind of mischievous kids who can: punch through steel plates in a fit of rage, slide tackle a tiger open with a powerful tackle, dodge bullets with lightning speed, and play dead to kill a bear with ease.

Ted was pleased to see everyone so calm.

Everyone looked at Ted, who was undoubtedly the strongest fighter here.

They had witnessed Ted decapitating a training dummy with a single Cutting Charm during practice.

Then he can use a healing spell to fix it and continue cutting. He's practically the king of torture!

If Ted says there's no chance, then he'll definitely go home.

Ted thought for a moment: "I see... I remember there's a secret passage nearby? Even if we're really outmatched, we can still escape."

The Weasley twins spent their days searching for magical puzzles and the like, and found quite a few secret passages and mechanisms.

There happened to be one in a nearby basement. If all else fails, hide inside, and the monster will have no chance against you.

Ted also analyzed the situation before deciding to take the risk.

Of the three monsters, the Quilo Horned Beast wasn't actually very strong; it was a little stronger than a wolf, but not by much.

A normal fifth-year wizard could easily handle it as long as he wasn't nervous.

That spider-like insect is quite dangerous, mainly because it is agile and has great killing power.

However, since they don't have much magical ability, knowing a lot of spells is actually not a problem at all.

The most troublesome one is that modified giant monster!

The sheer size of this thing is enough to give anyone a hard time.

Moreover, its innate magic resistance makes it difficult for ordinary spells to work. It's like a rampaging magical armored vehicle.

Ted and his men, on the other hand, were armed with pistols, making them difficult to deal with.

The only saving grace is that it's incredibly stupid. And it doesn't have any innate magical abilities, not to mention its body odor…
