Chapter 30 Don't Argue with Women
"You bastard, Beta, you're insane."
Barrett roared.
No matter how much Barrett roared, Beta ignored him and instead relentlessly pushed him to his limits during training.
Despite their constant bickering, their relationship was the best, and Barrett could sense his sincerity.
Seeing Beta going crazy, Barrett opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing.
Beta continued until he was completely exhausted and collapsed to the ground.
Barrett remained silent, making no unnecessary movements.
"Do you know? I used to be a slave."
Beta's sudden words surprised Barrett, but he still replied with an air of arrogance, "I know."
"Because I have a huge appetite, I'm never full, and being beaten by my owner is a common occurrence..."
Barrett listened quietly. He had experienced these tragedies as well, only in different versions, but few people knew the bitterness in them.
"But...ever since I met Boss Charlotte, my life has changed. Even though Boss Charlotte always looks down on me, I know he has never looked down on me. I can feel it..."
"He treated me like family."
Barrett's heart skipped a beat. Family? That was something he felt was somewhat distant.
"Actually, no one knows that the one who trains the most and works the hardest is Boss Charlotte. I used to wonder why someone who was already so strong would still work so hard?"
Barrett fell silent. He knew, of course, that it was because of the Golden Lion, and that there were many other powerful individuals like him.
"Therefore, I must not let the boss face the enemy alone in the future. I want to be the sharpest spear, to face the enemy together with the boss, and to protect this island and this home."
Beta burst into laughter and asked, "Barrett, would you like to come with me?"
Barrett was deeply moved. At such a young age, he had been wandering for so long, and this place gave him a different feeling. There was no deceit or endless betrayal; it was a sense of peace and relaxation for his soul.
This was an experience he had never had before; he had long since lost his family, companions, and even... his country.
He suddenly had a feeling that he didn't want to lose this place, and blurted out something as if possessed.
"good!"
Beta laughed heartily, quite pleased with Barrett's answer.
However, Beta's irritating tone rang out again, as infuriating as ever.
"Oh, you're not very strong! You can't beat me, or I'll kill you."
"Damn it, wanna fight?" Barrett couldn't help but roar in anger.
"Oh, you're getting impatient, aren't you?"
Beta's tone, coupled with his smug look, infuriated Barrett.
"I really don't know why Boss Charlotte would say you have the aura of a king."
Upon hearing this, Barrett arrogantly raised his head, "What do you know? Boss Charlotte has a keen eye for talent!"
"Tch, you..."
The two ended their conversation amidst their bickering.
A sudden change seems to have made everyone grow a little.
Charlotte was very pleased to see the entire Hibernian Pirates in a state of frenzy.
Look at everyone, their excellent sense of crisis is really nice!
Therefore, Charlotte would set aside a fixed time each day to personally guide and train everyone.
Charlotte's training was serious, rigorous, and strict.
Especially since Beta insisted on training with him and even brought Barrett along, Charlotte naturally didn't hold back when she saw his strong sense of urgency and ambition.
They carried him from day to night until the end of each day's training.
Today is just as tragic!
Beta and Barrett were covered in wounds, their faces bruised and swollen, a truly pitiful sight.
Soon the two limped into the medical room.
Gillian looked at the two of them, their faces swollen like pig heads, and burst out laughing.
"Hey, hey, hey, Gillian, can you tone it down a bit?" Beta yelled, looking annoyed.
"I just couldn't resist. This is the first time, but I'll definitely be more careful next time."
As Gillian spoke, her hands continued to treat the two men's injuries without stopping. Although they looked serious, they were just superficial wounds and not a big problem.
Beta felt helpless. He had heard this sentence countless times, and it was always the same, giving him a strange sense of familiarity.
Barrett, on the other hand, remained expressionless and serious, haughtily refusing to speak. Unfortunately, his current bruised and swollen face made him look rather comical.
It's fair to say that Barrett harbors a lot of resentment towards Beta. Why did that bastard have to drag him along to fight alongside that freak, Charlotte?
Thinking of this, Barrett's eye twitched, pulling at his wound and making a faint hissing sound; it hurt.
"Boss Charlotte really went all out!" Beta muttered. Although it wasn't a serious injury, the tingling sensation was really unbearable!
"Damn it, you still know that? Then why do you keep provoking him?!" Barrett finally couldn't help but roar.
However, the movement was too vigorous, causing waves of intense pain to emanate from the wound.
Gillian smiled slightly. Ever since the two of them started training with Charlotte, they had become regulars here, so she was already used to their bickering.
These two are always like this.
The matter was quickly resolved for the two individuals.
Beta couldn't help but exclaim, "Gillian, your medical skills are getting more and more amazing!"
Barrett didn't say much, but nodded in agreement.
"Of course! I'm going to become a world-renowned doctor; that's my dream," Gillian said, her eyes sparkling.
Then he looked at Beta, Barrett, and Gillian and smiled.
"You guys also need a reliable ship's doctor to treat your injuries."
The two were taken aback; this was indeed true, and not having a good ship's doctor was a major headache.
"Besides, I don't trust Captain Charlotte to be handed over to a bunch of brutes who only know how to fight."
"You brute!"
Beta and Barrett both agreed that they completely disagreed with the word.
That guy's a brute!
However, seeing Gillian's serious expression, the two of them didn't say anything more.
Don't argue with women.
In any case, they would never admit that they were just reckless fighters.
Impossible, absolutely impossible.
That's the demeanor of a strong person, not the behavior of a brute.
However, after Beta and Barrett exchanged a glance, they both snorted coldly, "You brute."
"You're a brute!"
"You're the one who's a brute!"
The two then left amidst a heated argument.
Charlotte watched from afar and remarked casually, "They really are full of energy!"
"They still have the energy to argue? Hmm, looks like they need to do more training. The training plan needs to be revised."
Thinking about it this way, Charlotte smiled, especially since she seemed to have come up with some good plan, and her mood seemed to have improved a lot.
Little did they know that Beta and Barrett were both giving each other a cold shoulder.
