Death Wizard Diary
Chapter 17 Nobody Has It Easy
Chapter 17 Nobody Has It Easy
Kongsa is no saint; everything she does for Saul comes at a price Saul must pay.
Kong Sha chuckled lightly, "What are you afraid of? Didn't you drink the medicine without hesitation last time?"
Last time, Saul was just a servant, powerless against the threat of death.
There are still three months until the first test.
Thor isn't entirely clueless about how to become stronger, and naturally, he doesn't want to gamble his future on a potion with unknown side effects.
"This medicine is fine for short-term use, but if you take it long-term, it will deplete your potential and consume your life force. Once it's all used up, you will naturally die."
Kongsha changed the subject, "However, if you are more ambitious and work harder, you might be able to become a second-level apprentice before your potential is exhausted. At that time, you won't have to force yourself to increase your magic power, but instead you can use witchcraft research to gain achievements, and you can also pass the test every six months."
After she finished speaking, she picked up the small medicine bottle and shook it. The clear liquid inside the bottle rippled and swayed, looking incredibly tempting.
"Overdrawing my potential." Thor stared at the vial of potion and sighed softly. "If I really take it long-term, will I ever have a chance to become a full-fledged wizard?"
"Ha!" Kongsha almost laughed herself to death at what she had just heard. "You're dreaming! Even I'm not sure I can definitely become a full-fledged wizard."
Although not explicitly stated, this statement essentially confirms Saul's words.
"I'm sorry, Senior Kongsha, I can't take this medicine." Thor lowered his head, but his voice was firm.
Kongsa's smile vanished, and she stood up, looking up at the top of Thor's head.
Inside the glass dome on half of the head, five or six eyes appeared densely packed, pressed tightly against the glass, staring fiercely at Thor.
Although he didn't look up, Thor could still feel endless pressure and fear.
After Thor's face turned pale and his body began to tremble, Kongsha chuckled and withdrew her gaze.
"You think three months is a long time? Since you're unwilling, I won't force you. However, when you regret it and come begging to me, it won't be that simple."
After saying that, Kong Sha gracefully walked past Thor and left the dormitory.
After a long while, Thor turned back to look at the tightly closed door and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
Cold sweat poured down his face, but when he touched it, it gathered into beads of water and slid down the corners of his eyes.
Although it was terrifying, Thor had to refuse Kongsa's potion.
Firstly, he couldn't allow himself to become Kongsha's puppet, gambling his life on her kindness.
Secondly, as a time traveler with a hardcover book, he could not possibly be satisfied with the future of a second-level wizard apprentice.
The wizard's door had been opened a crack for him, and even just a glimpse was enough to make Thor yearn for it.
"Am I just incredibly unlucky? Why do I always encounter danger? Surviving in this world is just too difficult!"
First there was West Germany, then Konstantinos, and in the middle, Mark's attitude was unclear.
He has Katz above him, Brown below him, and Duke University lurking around him with ulterior motives.
Are there no good people in this wizard tower?
He couldn't live the life of an ordinary apprentice, learning honestly and not encountering an enemy at every step.
Because of the shock he had just experienced, Thor's limbs were still a little sore. He managed to take two steps before collapsing onto the bed.
"Having rejected Kongsha, I can only find a way to become stronger on my own for now."
Thor covered his eyes with his left hand, the cold, hard white bone stinging his eyelids.
"Damn it, I might as well just give up and become a monster! I have class tomorrow... Time to sleep!"
With only half the night's sleep and intermittent nightmares, Thor couldn't get any rest at all.
But he still got up early, sporting dark circles under his eyes, and found George working on the fourth floor before class.
George was very excited to see Saul arrive. He was going to be cleaning the corridor at dawn the next day. Although he might not encounter any trouble, it was probably better not to go.
As long as Saul values him, the other male servants dare not assign him dangerous tasks.
"My lord, have you come to take me as your personal servant?" George's eyes were shining.
"Not yet."
George, still a child, immediately showed disappointment, but he quickly cheered up, "I understand, sir. George will always look forward to serving you!"
Saul got down to business, "Has anyone come looking for Brown these days?"
George shook his head. "Everyone was together when they were resting, and he was there the whole time. But I don't know about the nights."
Thor pondered that perhaps the person instructing Brown to target him had not yet appeared.
He changed his approach and asked, "Before, after I was injured, did you ever see a blond, eighteen or nineteen-year-old boy come to see Brown?"
Saul described what Sid, the second-level apprentice, looked like.
George's mouth dropped open when he heard this.
Seeing George's expression, Saul immediately pressed, "Have you seen him before?"
George stammered, "Sir, I didn't see him come looking for Brown... But, but, isn't that the person you're talking about the one who threw the book... and injured you?"
Thor's eyes widened.
His fragmented memories had never told him who killed the original owner of his body, but after George reminded him, images suddenly appeared in Thor's mind.
The fear that had been sealed away by death erupted in an instant.
It was a bright yet still eerie large room.
Those were rows of towering bookshelves.
It was a blond young man with a strange expression who kept taking books out of the bookshelf and putting them back.
Those were a few indistinct whispers about a "diary".
That was the look of fury on his face when he turned around and saw himself.
It was a hardcover book, about the thickness of a hand, that had been casually thrown at me.
It was a dizziness mixed with intense fear and a severe headache.
It was a deathly silence and darkness...
Thor swayed, utterly shocked.
What surprised him was not the discovery that West had killed "himself," but the hardcover book.
It was the hardcover book floating on his left shoulder!
Thor always believed that the hardcover book was a perk, a cheat code, and a cheat code for him to travel through time.
Unexpectedly, that hardcover book was something that originally existed in this world!
He resisted the urge to look at his left shoulder.
Then he thought of the word "diary" he had heard from West Germans, and the familiar format of the hardcover book as the words appeared...
Was the thing West Germany was looking for the hardcover book that he had casually tossed over?
Thor sneered.
I wonder if West Germany was aware of this.
If the other party discovers that the hardcover book is what he's looking for, then there's a reason why Saul has faced so many deadly dangers these past few days.
Saul didn't know how to separate the hardcover book, and he was even less likely to abandon it.
"Then it's a fight to the death," he thought to himself, no longer feeling much fear.
Looking up, Saul saw George staring at him anxiously. His expression softened. "Alright, you can go back now. Once I've calmed down, I'll transfer you out."
George was overjoyed; with Saul's words, his life could be extended by several years.
After leaving the elated George, Saul made a point of saying goodbye to the butler.
The other party was extremely respectful when they met him and readily agreed not to assign George any dangerous tasks.
After that, Thor hurriedly packed his things and headed to the East Tower.
Today's first lesson is about basic knowledge of everything.
Thor arrived late, and Claire had already saved him a spot.
"You're finally here. If you hadn't come, I would have thought something had happened to you too." Claire stroked her chin again, "Although I thought it was impossible."
"Eh? Who's in trouble?"
Is there someone even more unlucky than me?
Claire mentioned a name that Thor had never heard of.
"He's gone mad." Claire noticed that Thor didn't show the same panicked expression as the others. "Why aren't you surprised at all?"
"I've already witnessed the horrors here, but I never expected that someone would go insane just one day later," Thor said in a low voice.
If it weren't for Pinky's appearance last night, his best outcome would probably have been going insane.
