Devouring Stars: Master of Evolution

Chapter 10 Preparation

January 10th, 7 PM.

"Phew, this Five Hearts Facing the Sky Method is too difficult. It's been ten days, and I still haven't sensed any cosmic energy."

Qin Mu felt somewhat helpless.

"The difference between people is just too great!"

Qin Mu remembered that Luo Feng sensed cosmic energy on the very night he began his cultivation.

Without forcing himself to sense anything further, Qin Mu stood up and stretched around the living room.

After eating something, Qin Mu returned to his computer desk and turned on his computer.

These days, Qin Mu has been busy practicing the Five Hearts Towards Heaven Technique. On the contrary, he has become even busier.

These days, Qin Mu has been preparing to enter the wilderness area; there's just too much to do.

Since he planned to venture into the wilderness alone, he knew he couldn't rely on two legs, so Qin Mu found a driving school and got his driver's license.

With the status of a prospective martial artist and enough money to pay, the driving school guarantees you can get your license in 20 days.

Besides learning to drive, Qin Mu also used Uncle Qing's connections to find a shooting club to learn shooting.

Although firearms deal very little damage to high-level monsters, they are very effective against low-level monsters.

Normally, beast-class monsters cannot withstand attacks from firearms. Although Qin Mu is going into the wilderness, he will not go too far and will basically not encounter high-level monsters.

It's never a bad idea to spend some time practicing using firearms.

For the past ten days, Qin Mu went to the Extreme Martial Arts Academy every morning to train and practice sparring with some advanced students. In the afternoon, he practiced driving for two hours and shooting for two hours.

At night, one practices the original genetic energy—the Five Hearts Facing Heaven Method.

Unfortunately, the progress on the driver's license and shooting test was incredibly fast over the course of ten days.

However, the Five Hearts Facing Heaven Method yielded no results.

Open the HR Alliance platform and enter your identity information.

This is a very special platform; only martial artists can log in.

The HR Alliance, also known as the Underground Alliance by martial artists, is an alliance composed of the world's top super conglomerates and super families. It controls more than half of the global economy and has infiltrated various industries.

Three days ago, Qin Mu's information as a prospective martial artist was entered into his ID card, and he was able to log in to the HR Alliance platform, although his access was very limited.

As one of the most powerful forces on Earth, the HR Alliance platform contains a wealth of information.

After three days, Qin Mu had gained some understanding of the platform and, based on the information on it, had initially planned his route out of the city and the supplies he needed to purchase and prepare.

"To enter the wilderness, you can take the train to Jiangnan Base City, and then take the HR Alliance train to the military's supply base."

"The military will patrol around the supply base and clear out any monsters they encounter."

"Therefore, the area within 50 miles of the base is basically a safe zone where monsters rarely appear. Beyond 100 miles, it becomes a monster paradise where you can encounter monsters everywhere."

"I prefer to choose a Zerg hatchery that is between 50 and 100 miles away from the military base."

"Within this area, there are not many monsters, and they are mostly low-level beast soldiers. There are very few mid-level beast soldiers. It is relatively safe and convenient for the insect hive to expand outward after hatching."

"Through repeated comparisons over the past few days, it has been confirmed that this location is quite suitable for breeding Zerg bases."

Qin Mu marked a point on a map; this was a villa area before the Great Cataclysm.

The villa area is about 70 miles away from the military area. One section of the road is severely damaged, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through, and the military rarely patrols this area.

This place is in a good location, and each villa has a basement and garage, which makes it easy to hide the mother nest.

Considering the numerous flying monsters in the sky and the natural ability of satellites to scout, Qin Mu's initial plan was to incubate the insect nest inside the villa, using the building as a shield to avoid the sight of the many monsters while also preventing satellites from taking pictures from the sky.

While I was thinking, my phone suddenly made a soft ringing sound.

"bite"

Qin Mu picked up his phone; there was a message on it.

"[Bank Name], Dear Qin Mu, your loan has been approved and 300 million yuan has been successfully deposited into your account. Please withdraw the funds promptly and repay on time."

Qin Mu opened his mobile banking app and, sure enough, 300 million yuan had been deposited into his account.

"The money has finally arrived; we can buy everything now."

A satisfied smile appeared on Qin Mu's face.

That's right. After passing the quasi-martial artist assessment, Qin Mu went straight to apply for a loan. With his status as a quasi-martial artist and the fact that he owned a property, he easily obtained a loan of 300 million from the bank.

If my plan succeeds and I return safely from the wilderness, repaying the three million will be a breeze. If I don't return, then it doesn't matter.

With these three million, things will be much easier.

There are many things Qin Mu needs to prepare before entering the wilderness.

The essential items included the Po Jun series rifles, combat uniforms, communication watches, combat backpacks, medicine, food, a light truck for travel, an off-road motorcycle for escape in case of emergency, and a batch of spare firearms.

In addition to these things, a large amount of meat needs to be purchased for the worker insects to eat and accumulate energy.

This 300 million seems like a lot, but in reality, if you really let yourself spend it freely, it won't be enough.

Qin Mu opened the weapons and equipment page on the HR Alliance platform. In addition to various cold weapons, there were also many firearms.

"Po Jun Long Spear No. 2 Series, A1 Model Price: 10 Huaxia Coins"

"Po Jun Long Spear No. 2 Series, A2 Model Price: 50 million Chinese Yuan"

"Po Jun Long Spear No. 2 Series, A3 Model Price: 100 million Chinese Yuan"

……

"Po Jun Long Spear No. 2 Series, A5 Model Price: 600 million Chinese Yuan"

"Po Jun Long Spear No. 2 Series, A6 Model Price: 2000 million Chinese Yuan"

"That's really expensive!"

Qin Mu smacked his lips. 300 million yuan. He couldn't even afford a decent weapon.

"Let's buy the A2 model. Most of the monsters on our journey are low-level beast soldiers, with a few mid-level monsters. An A2-level weapon will be sufficient."

Qin Mu knew very well that with his current strength, he could barely deal with low-level beast soldier monsters, and as for mid-level beast soldier monsters, he could just run away if he encountered them.

"The combat suit only needs to be able to defend against monsters of the low-level beast soldier level. As for the backpack and communication watch, buy the cheapest ones. They're just things to keep your identity secret anyway."

After careful selection, Qin Mu chose some necessities, and even after choosing the cheapest items, he still spent nearly a million.

Qin Mu had actually looked at these things many times before, and was just waiting for the loan money to arrive.

"Another major expense is off-road pickup trucks for transportation, off-road motorcycles for escaping in case of an accident, as well as firearms and sufficient ammunition."

"This off-road pickup truck can't be too heavy; it needs to be heavy enough for workers to lift, and if it gets stuck, it needs to be able to get out."

The cheapest off-road pickup truck that meets the requirements costs 500,000 yuan, but this off-road pickup truck comes with a machine gun and 5,000 rounds of ammunition. If you consider that, it doesn't seem so expensive?

With the speed of an off-road pickup truck, it can easily shake off most monsters of the beast soldier level. This is Qin Mu's biggest safety guarantee after entering the wilderness, and he cannot be careless about it.

"A motocross motorcycle used for escaping in an emergency, 10."

"A rifle, 3,000 rounds of ammunition, a quad rocket launcher, 16 rounds of ammunition, a box of landmines, binoculars, night vision goggles, as well as some grenades, medicine, military rations, etc., cost a total of 500,000."

After these days of training, Qin Mu is now able to use most firearms, though he can only use them; accuracy is not a primary concern.

Qin Mu would not use these firearms unless absolutely necessary.

Because the monsters in the wilderness are very sensitive to firearms, using them could easily attract a large number of monsters.

Of course, when it's a lifesaver in a critical moment, you can't worry about all that.

Of all these weapons and equipment, the most practical one is probably that box of landmines.

Because it takes three hours for the insect hive to hatch, and the hive cannot be moved during the hatching process, once it is discovered by the monster, it can only fight desperately.

With this box of landmines, the safety performance is greatly improved.

The most powerful firearm among them, the quadruple rocket launcher, can easily kill low-level and mid-level beast soldiers and severely injure high-level beast soldiers, making it one of Qin Mu's trump cards.

Ordinary weapons and equipment can be delivered directly to your home by express courier, but off-road pickup trucks, firearms, and the like can only be delivered to the military camp.

With just a few clicks, 210 million was gone.

Qin Mu let out a soft breath; he had basically bought everything he needed.

The remaining money, apart from a little for basic expenses, was all used to buy meat.

The energy provided by this meat is enough for the worker insects to accumulate enough to molt into a nest, and there is still some left over to hatch worker insects.

"Prepare for a few more days. If you haven't mastered the Five Hearts Facing Heaven Method by the 20th at the latest, you should set off."

Qin Mu thought to himself.

Because successfully cultivating genetic energy for the first time will greatly enhance one's strength, it's best to succeed if you can, but if you can't, there's nothing you can do about it.

However, Qin Mu must depart by the 20th at the latest. Any later and the time will be too tight. Qin Mu also needs to allow some buffer time.
