Devouring Stars: Master of Evolution

Chapter 123 Becoming an Apprentice

In the Hall of Slaughter, an old man with green skin sat in a corner, holding a glass of water as usual, his cloudy eyes occasionally glancing around.

"Huh? How did this old guy end up here?"

"I told him to send an apprentice over to test it out, why did you come here yourself?"

Manlu looked at the old man in white robes with gray hair walking into the entrance of the killing hall and asked with some doubt.

The visitor was the head of the pharmacist department at the Black Dragon Mountain branch of the Virtual Universe Company. He was on the same level as Manluo and was one of the highest-ranking people in the Black Dragon Mountain Empire within the Virtual Universe Company.

However, as the head of the pharmacist department, he usually prefers to spend time in the laboratory and rarely comes to the killing field.

"Yu Chen, you old codger, what brings you to the killing field today?"

Manlu slowly stood up and called out to the old man in the white robe with gray hair.

The two were old acquaintances, having been stationed together in the Black Dragon Mountain Empire for many years, and their relationship was quite good.

"Ronnie told me that Qin Mu is a genius in pharmacology, so I came to take a look."

An elderly man in a white robe, with gray hair, stroked his beard and said with a smile.

"Our pharmacy department isn't like the martial arts or mentalists department, which have so many geniuses. If we finally find a promising talent, wouldn't I come and take a look?"

Upon hearing this, Manluo thought to herself, "Just as I suspected."

"It seems Qin Mu has extraordinary talent as a pharmacist; even you have been alerted."

How could it be as simple as Yu Chen said, that it could alarm an immortal powerhouse like the head of the pharmaceutical department of the Black Dragon Mountain branch and make him come to check in person?

"I'll go take a look first, and I'll tell you later!"

The white-robed elder, Yu Chen, smiled and walked towards the meditation room.

After walking all the way to the meditation room where Qin Mu and the others were, the white-robed old man knocked on the door and went in.

Ronnie Ashley and Qin Mu were still discussing the creation of the bloodline potion, while Ming Yu sat aside listening, feeling rather bored and dazed.

At first, he could understand what the two were saying, but later he had no idea what they were talking about.

Upon seeing the white-robed elder enter, he immediately stood up and respectfully greeted him.

"Greetings, Lord Yu Chen."

The two people who were discussing nearby also quickly stood up, with Ronnie Ashley calling out.

"teacher."

Qin Mu then shouted along with Ming Yu.

"Greetings, Lord Yu Chen."

The white-robed elder, Yu Chen, nodded slightly, his gaze fixed on Qin Mu.

"You must be Qin Mu! Ronnie said you have a great talent as a pharmacist, and you specialize in bloodline evolution agents and the preparation of Skyfire Ravens, right?"

The moment Qin Mu saw the old man, he was shocked and felt a strong pressure.

In the virtual universe, everyone's physical abilities are the same in most situations, but the old man in front of me gives people a strong sense of pressure.

Based on the conversation between Mingyu and Ronnie Ashley, he knew that the white-robed old man in front of him was Ronnie Ashley's teacher, but he didn't know what level of power he was.

But Qin Mu guessed that Ming Yu was a domain lord, and anyone he could call "Master" was at least a realm lord, or even stronger!

immortal?

"Yes, Lord Yu Chen."

Qin Mu suppressed his shock and replied.

"very good."

The white-robed elder, Yu Chen, waved his hand, and a halo of light appeared in the meditation room. He then spoke to Qin Mu.

"Come on, show me how it works, and I'll see your skill level."

As he spoke, the white-robed elder, Yu Chen, stepped into the circle of light.

Upon hearing the words of the white-robed elder Yu Chen, Qin Mu quickly followed, with Ronnie Ashley close behind.

Upon entering the aperture, the surrounding environment underwent a dramatic transformation, transporting them from the meditation room into a futuristic-looking laboratory.

The surrounding rooms, large and small, contained various instruments, some of which Qin Mu recognized, but most of which he had never seen before.

"This is my private laboratory. List out what you need, and then I'll see how you make the Bloodline Evolution Agent."

Seeing the two men follow, the white-robed elder, Yu Chen, waved his hand, and the portal behind him disappeared. He then spoke.

Various experiments can be conducted in the virtual universe, and the results are almost indistinguishable from those in reality. The cost of materials consumed is only one-thousandth of that in reality, which is why many researchers prefer to conduct their research in the virtual universe.

A light screen appeared in front of Qin Mu, containing various instruments, materials, and so on.

Before preparing to participate in the pharmacist assessment of the Virtual Universe Company, Qin Mu had guessed that this scene would occur. As the overlord of the swarm, it would be easier for him to use the brood mound to make bloodline evolution agents.

However, once the principle of production is understood, it is also possible to make it using human instruments, although the process will be more complicated, so there is no fear of being intimidated.

"It is Lord Yu Chen."

After operating the light screen, Qin Mu selected the experimental instruments and materials he needed one by one.

While Qin Mu was selecting instruments, Ronnie Ashley quietly approached him and whispered something to him.

"My teacher is the head of the pharmacist department at the Heilongshan branch. As long as you pass the exam, you can join the pharmacist department. There might even be some surprises."

Qin Mu was slightly startled; it turned out to be a big shot in charge of the pharmacist department of the Virtual Universe Company.

"Thanks."

After expressing his gratitude, Qin Mu became even more cautious and began operating the equipment to produce the bloodline evolution agent.

Making bloodline evolution agents is an extremely complicated process. It's manageable in the mother nest, but even more so when using human equipment. There are tens of thousands of steps involved, and the slightest mistake cannot be made.

Not only are the procedures complicated, but each step also requires fine-tuning based on the specific conditions of the medicinal materials; the slightest mistake will result in failure.

In particular, the Bloodline Evolution Agent is considered the most difficult of all the potions to use. Even if Ronnie Ashley were to operate it, he couldn't guarantee success every time.

A day later, Qin Mu, who was completely absorbed in making the bloodline evolution agent, held a bottle of colorful potion and gently exhaled.

"It's a success!"

Yu Chen and Ronnie Ashley, who were observing from the side, both smiled; they had actually succeeded on their first try.

The white-robed elder, Yu Chen, took the medicine Qin Mu handed him and drank it down in one gulp.

With his eyes closed, the white-robed elder, Yu Chen, seemed to be sensing the effects of the medicine on his body.

"Not bad, the potion you made has reached the fifth-grade bloodline level, although it is one of the worse ones among the fifth-grade bloodlines."

The white-robed elder, Yu Chen, opened his eyes, his smile growing even wider.

"The bloodline evolution agent you made is quite different from the regular bloodline evolution agent of Virtual Universe Company. The general idea is the same, but you use fewer raw materials and the process is simpler. This is a remarkable improvement."

Qin Mu bowed slightly.

He thoroughly analyzed the bloodlines of various organisms through the insect swarm, and also inherited the secret insect swarm techniques such as the "Primitive Insect Codex". He combined the inheritance from Meteorite Star with the limits achieved through his own long-term research.

Compared to human research on bloodlines, the Zerg have a huge advantage.

Even the strongest human bloodline is only at the Domain Lord level!

"However, your technique seems rather clumsy, and there are some problems with some of the steps. These problems will not cause your potion to fail, but the effect will be much worse."

Furthermore, while your ideas and thoughts were quite good and you had your own unique insights when you discussed the issues with Ronnie, you lacked sufficient understanding of many medicinal herbs and organisms, and some of your points were even incorrect!

This is the limitation of self-study; without guidance, you're bound to take detours.

The white-robed elder, Yu Chen, stroked his beard and commented with a smile.

"You want to join the pharmaceutical department of Virtual Universe Corporation, right?"

You have passed the assessment.

As Ronnie told you, I am the head of the pharmacist department at the Heilongshan branch.

So, would you like to become my apprentice? In the field of pharmacists, my expertise lies in the research of bloodline potions.

Although I'm not good at fighting, I am an immortal, and having lived for so many years, I can still offer you some guidance.

Qin Mu's heart stirred upon hearing the white-robed elder's words.

Become an apprentice?!

To become an immortal powerhouse who is skilled in bloodline evolution agents as an apprentice?

What a stroke of luck!

What is the fastest way for me to improve my skills?

It involves studying the genes of many Zerg warriors in the Zerg heritage, and researching the Golden Horned Beast and the Blazing Beast!

His ability to comprehend domains comes from studying the bloodlines and genes of the Golden Horned Beast and the Blazing Beast!

In fact, in his plan, to increase his gene count and take the path of divine power, he needed to study the bloodlines of these powerful creatures!

With his insect swarm, innate gene-modification abilities, and familiarity with the plot, how could Qin Mu not pursue the path of divine power?

Devouring the universe, the divine power path is more powerful than the law path!

Studying the genes of various monsters can help one understand the laws governing them and increase the gene's multiplier.

A two-pronged approach for mutual progress

This was something Qin Mu had planned from the very beginning.

But how much of the blood, flesh, and genes of these powerful creatures could one collect by oneself alone?

Virtual Universe Company is different!

I collect any living creature that exists, even powerful cosmic behemoths like the Golden Horned Beast.

Even the Black Dragon Mountain branch of Virtual Universe Company probably possesses countless treasures!

Now that this opportunity is right in front of me, it would be foolish to hesitate.

"Qin Mu greets his teacher!"

Qin Mu bowed down without hesitation.

Seeing Qin Mu bow down and accept the greeting, the white-robed elder Yu Chen's smile deepened.

It's difficult for a student to find a good teacher, but it's even more difficult for a teacher to find a suitable student!

Especially when it comes to passing on the skills of a pharmacist, finding a suitable person is extremely difficult.

Compared to mainstream martial artists and mental cultivators, there might not be a single pharmacist among a million Eternal Star level cultivators!

Even fewer geniuses are willing to pursue the path of apothecary! Especially those specializing in bloodline evolution agents!

In the eyes of the white-robed elder Yu Chen, Qin Mu's talent as a pharmacist was even greater than that of the top-tier elites assessed in the Virtual Universe Company.

To be able to create a bloodline evolution agent of the fifth-grade bloodline at the Hengxing level is a genius that might not appear even once in tens of millions of years.

Especially since this genius is self-taught!

Relying solely on a self-taught, inherited knowledge!

If I teach them carefully, to what extent can they achieve?

While Yu Chen, the white-robed elder, might not be able to speak for himself in other fields, he was certainly among the best in the world of medicine, especially in the area of bloodline evolution agents!

What kind of inheritance can compare to his personal teaching?

Aside from a few extraordinary encounters, the strongest human bloodline is only at the Domain Lord level!

The production of bloodline evolution agents of this level was nothing to him; what he wanted to pursue was to create stronger bloodlines among humans!

Of course, that's too difficult!

All human pharmacists in the entire universe have been stumped at this step.

"Good! Good! Good! From today onwards, you are my third disciple, Yu Chen!"
