Devouring Stars: Master of Evolution

Chapter 18 New Zerg Units

A day later, after consuming hundreds of points of energy, a complete diagram of the life structure appeared in the mother nest within the evolution chamber.

"The genetic analysis of the Tiger-Dog Dog is finally complete! The genetic progress for evolving into a level two mother hive has reached 6%."

A smile appeared on Qin Mu's face. He could now hatch Zerg units other than worker Zerg.

"After consuming 15 energy points, a Tiger-Hound with intermediate-level beast soldier combat power can be hatched in twenty minutes."

That's right, it's a mid-level beast soldier!

I sensed that there was still 3124 energy points remaining in the mother nest.

"Reserve 1000 energy points for later use, and dedicate the rest to hatching the Tiger Mastiff!"

Under Qin Mu's command, five larvae around the mother nest immediately began to mutate, transforming into a pupa, and their genetic information mutated towards Hu Aoquan.

Twenty minutes later, five exceptionally strong tiger-dogs hatched from the eggs.

Qin Mu stepped forward, looked at Hu Aoquan, whose shoulder height was nearly 1.5 meters, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

"Go! Fight for the Zerg!"

The five tigers and their hounds immediately ran outside, heading towards a battlefield under the guidance of their mother's nest.

While the mother nest was analyzing the Tiger-Ao-Hound genes, in order to take care of the swarm's ever-expanding territory, the mother nest hatched dozens more worker insects, so there are now a total of 126 worker insects.

A small portion of them defended the Mother Nest, while the majority, under the command of the Mother Nest, hunted down any remaining monsters that escaped from the villa area and expanded the swarm's control into the depths of the wilderness.

A shadow cat nimbly darted through the ruins, outmaneuvering several worker insects that were far less agile.

Just as it was feeling smug, a strong Tibetan Mastiff came galloping over, leaped several times, easily jumped onto the wall, and bit the Shadow Cat's body.

"As expected, when it comes to combat, the worker insects are still a bit lacking."

Although Qin Mu said this, a smile appeared on his lips. Hu Aoquan's fighting power did not disappoint him.

"We need to consider establishing a secondary base for the Zerg swarm. This location is too close to the military camp, and there aren't enough monsters."

In Qin Mu's initial plan, incubating the mother nest here was just a stepping stone. He just didn't expect that he would awaken and greatly increase the development speed of the swarm.

Qin Mu took out a tablet computer, manipulated it for a while, brought up a map, and continuously located and zoomed in.

"There are three counties that are relatively close to me: County 0201, County 0202, and County 0203."

Qin Mu prioritized County 0203 because it was relatively remote, had fewer martial artists, and was close to City 023, which was formerly Suzhou.

The swarm uses County 0203 as its base, and once it grows strong, it expands to City 023.

There are plenty of monsters there, enough for the swarm of insects to hunt and grow.

More importantly, there is a huge lake there—Taihu Lake, which is home to countless aquatic monsters.

Taihu Lake is a branch of the Yangtze River system. Its waters flow into the Yangtze River through more than 70 rivers and ports on its northeast and east sides, connecting the two rivers.

Qin Mu's plan was to start cultivating aquatic insectoids once the insect swarm reached City 023.

Once the aquatic insectoids reach a certain level of strength, they can travel along rivers, enter the Yangtze River, and then flow downstream to the sea.

The ocean is the real monster paradise, where countless sea monsters are devoured, analyzed, and evolved by swarms of insects!

That is where the insect swarms truly battle on Earth.

On land, the same applies. Once you establish yourself in city 023, you begin your journey to city 003, which is the former Shanghai. The ultimate destination is still the ocean.

Of the three counties, Qin Mu is not considering going to County 0201 for the time being, because this is the first county Luo Feng went to after becoming a martial artist.

Before his strength reaches a certain level, Qin Mu does not plan to make contact with Luo Feng, because making contact with the protagonist often means trouble!

If possible, Qin Mu still wants to develop peacefully, ideally until the swarm grows to the point where it can sweep across the entire world of monsters, before going out to roam.

The key to making the Zerg swarm stronger is to make the Mulch stronger. Currently, the strongest Zerg unit that a Tier 1 Mulch can hatch is the Advanced Orc.

For a mother nest to be upgraded to a level two mother nest, the most important thing is to make the genetic progress of the level one mother nest reach 100%.

After analyzing a mid-level beast soldier-grade tiger mastiff, the progress has reached 6%. At this rate, it will take more than half a month to reach 100%.

"Today is already July 23rd, and time is running out."

Qin Mu took a deep breath. It would take two or three days to get to the villa area from city number 0203.

Initially, Qin Mu only planned to establish a mother nest in the villa area, and once he had a firm foothold, he would return to the base city to participate in the martial arts combat assessment. After obtaining the official martial arts title, he would then consider heading to the county town.

Only after obtaining the title of Martial Artist can one join various factions, acquire guiding techniques, and obtain various cultivation secrets and equipment.

This is extremely important for Qin Mu, who has no Zerg heritage.

However, plans can't keep up with changes, and staying in the villa area would just be a waste of time.

"Today we'll focus all our efforts on hatching the Tiger Mastiffs. Tonight, we'll head straight for County 0203 to open up the mother nest. With the strength of me and the swarm, there shouldn't be any major dangers along the way."

Qin Mu pondered.

"Take it easy. Send out a few small teams of Tiger Mastiffs to scout ahead first, and then the main force will set off at night! By nightfall, the number of Tiger Mastiffs should exceed 150."

150 tigers and mastiffs with the strength of mid-level beast soldiers, plus my mid-level warrior-level mentalist, is enough.

By the time we reached County 0203, the Iron-haired Boar and Shadow Cat units had been analyzed, and we would have three types of units that could be hatched. With that kind of strength, the new Mother Nest would be able to barely establish a foothold in the county.

Qin Mu carefully calculated the insect swarm's combat strength and time.

"There are still 8 days until the martial arts combat assessment. Subtracting 6 days for travel, we can spend 2 days in County 0203. We have enough time."

After deciding on their development strategy, the swarm immediately began to act.

A team of ten Tibetan Mastiffs began their exploration towards City 0203.

The tiger mastiff was very fast and soon left the villa area and entered the wilderness.

Along the way, they encountered some monsters from time to time, but none of them posed much of a threat; they were mostly low-level or mid-level beast soldiers.

It wasn't until the tiger mastiff had traveled dozens of miles that the number of monsters in the wilderness increased significantly, and their strength also increased markedly. They would occasionally encounter monsters of the high-level beast soldier level.

Adhering to the principle of not causing trouble, the team of tiger mastiffs did not engage in battles with the monsters on the road, but instead kept a safe distance and recorded information about the various monsters they encountered along the way.

Half an hour later, the second team of Tiger Mastiffs set off.

After sending out three exploration teams, Qin Mu began to accumulate troops, preparing to lead the main force to migrate.

The reason for continuously sending out reconnaissance teams is simple: there are too many uncertainties in the wilderness. If they encounter a powerful monster, they can detect it in advance and avoid being wiped out in one fell swoop.

After arranging things with the insect swarm, Qin Mu didn't idle around. Instead, he took the time to train his movement techniques, marksmanship, and mental powers.

Because of the continuous hatching of Zerg, Qin Mu is getting stronger every moment, and he needs to master his own strength as soon as possible.

Before awakening in the insect hive, Qin Mu had experienced a real battle, and his marksmanship and movement skills had greatly improved. However, after awakening, his power surged, causing Qin Mu to lose all control over his body.

"call--"

Qin Mu picked up his spear and swung it wildly, his moves becoming increasingly skillful.

"After awakening, my talent and comprehension have become much stronger. Many problems that I couldn't discover before, I can now spot at a glance."

Qin Mu's face lit up with joy, his spear moving like a dragon, one move after another, in an endless stream.

"No, this move is wrong! The spear is an inch too high!"

"No, I was just using brute force with this move; I should have used finesse."

"..."

The more Qin Mu practiced, the more he felt that his marksmanship and movement were far from good enough, and that he had too many flaws.

Each drill reveals new problems.

In particular, when Qin Mu connected his consciousness to the Mother Nest and used the Mother Nest's powerful computing capabilities to practice his marksmanship and movement techniques.

The door to a new world has been opened.
