Devouring Stars: Master of Evolution

Chapter 20 Beast General-level Monsters

Qin Mu was toying with a dagger-like horn in his hand, which the worker insect had collected from the head of a high-level beast soldier-level unicorn boar.

This horn truly lives up to its reputation as the essence of the unicorn boar; in terms of hardness, it surpasses even Qin Mu's A2-level Broken Army Spear.

With a gentle toss, the unicorn leash floated steadily in mid-air.

Three identical unicorns lined up in front of Qin Mu, and under his control, they flew up and down, performing all sorts of intricate movements.

The spearhead of the Broken Army Spear was damaged in this battle and could hardly withstand high-intensity combat anymore. Therefore, Qin Mu set his sights on this unicorn.

While Qin Mu was training himself to wield the unicorn dagger, the surrounding insectoids, except for those patrolling and guarding, were feasting on the carcass of the unicorn boar, devouring its flesh and blood.

The carcasses of more than twenty unicorn boars were enough for the insect swarm to have a good meal; insect creatures, too, need to eat.

In fact, this is also a way for the Zerg to evolve. After countless bloody battles and devouring the flesh and blood of their enemies, there is a small chance that they will break through their own strength and evolve and mutate.

The swarm of insects had been traveling for several hours and was now eating and resting.

"Back at base, we must buy a few suitable telekinetic weapons, otherwise we won't be able to unleash our true combat power."

Qin Mu sighed, "This horn, although it's quite hard, is still not as easy to control as a real weapon. It's only good enough to make do with."

Just as the insect swarm was feeding, a group of scout dogs in the far distance encountered a crisis.

In the darkness, the tiger mastiffs formed a battle formation, vigilantly watching the surrounding jungle.

Just now, they were attacked by some kind of monster. One of the tiger mastiffs had a huge wound on its body, and blood was flowing freely.

"brush--"

A dark shadow flashed through the jungle; even the tiger mastiffs couldn't make out the monster's appearance.

"Click—"

The sound of flesh being torn apart and bones breaking rang out.

A huge wound was slashed on the back of a Tibetan Mastiff by a monster that suddenly appeared.

The monster looked like a tiger, with spots on its body, but it had two tails.

When the tiger mastiff was attacked, Qin Mu, who had transferred his consciousness to the tiger, carefully examined it and discovered that it was not a tiger at all, but a two-tailed tiger cat from the tiger cat clan!

The tiger-cat clan is a very powerful type of feline monster, and its strength is easy to identify by looking at its tail.

One tail is a high-level beast soldier, two tails are a low-level beast general, three tails are a mid-level beast general, and so on. The strongest eight tails have surpassed the lord level and are undoubtedly king-level monsters.

The two-tailed tiger-cat in front of us is a monster at the level of a low-level beast general.

Facing a two-tailed tiger cat of beast-general level, the tiger mastiff was powerless to fight back.

As the two-tailed tiger cats attacked, strange roars echoed through the jungle, sounding like both tigers and cats. A dozen or so one-tailed tiger cats slowly emerged from the jungle and surrounded the tiger mastiff.

Led by the two-tailed ocelot, these ocelots launched a series of attacks, but did not kill the tiger mastiff. They only scratched and injured the tiger mastiff, causing it to bleed profusely, but did not rush to kill it. Instead, they toyed with it.

"A two-tailed tiger cat? That's asking for death!"

Qin Mu's face darkened upon seeing this.

Many cat-like monsters have vicious personalities. When they have overwhelming strength, they often like to torture and kill their opponents. Just like before the Great Cataclysm, many cats would catch mice but would not eat them directly; instead, they would play with them until they died.

"I never expected that the first beast-general-level monster I'd encounter in the wilderness would be a two-tailed tiger-cat!"

Qin Mu quickly recalled the information about the two-tailed tiger cat that he had seen on the HR Alliance platform.

The tiger-cat race is a type of monster that does not like to live in groups. Even a two-tailed tiger-cat of the beast general level only has a dozen or so tiger-cat monsters by its side.

It's important to know that once a monster reaches the level of a Beast General, its intelligence increases significantly, and it often attracts many other monsters of the same kind to its vicinity.

It's normal to have dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of them. It's actually quite rare to have only a dozen or so, like the two-tailed ocelot.

By this time, the insect swarm had almost finished feeding, and the twenty-odd one-horned wild boars had become a pile of broken bones and tattered hides.

Qin Mu decisively gave the order.

"Swarm! Abandon feeding and support the reconnaissance team!"

The swarm of insects began to run, rushing towards the location of the two-tailed tiger cat.

At the same time, he ordered two other Tiger Mastiff reconnaissance teams to quickly approach the attack site, but not to join the battle; instead, they were to monitor the situation from a distance.

Even if you filled both reconnaissance teams with their strength, it wouldn't make a difference, but tracking and monitoring them would be no problem.

"At the current speed, it will take an hour to reach the attack site. Hopefully, we'll make it in time."

Qin Mu was somewhat annoyed, not because of the casualties suffered by the Zerg units, but because of the way they died.

As Zerg warriors, death is their destiny, but not to be tortured and killed like this!

……

"Almost there! The three Tibetan Mastiffs are still alive!"

Qin Mu's expression was filled with anger. During this period, Qin Mu had watched helplessly as one tiger mastiff after another was played with to death, and his heart was already filled with rage.

However, the closer Qin Mu got to the battlefield, the calmer he became.

The backpack on his back was opened by an invisible force, and more than twenty dagger-like horns flew out, swirling and flying around Qin Mu.

The consciousness connects to the mother nest, and with the mother nest's assistance, begins to calculate the optimal attack angle.

Qin Mu wanted to kill all the tiger cats in one strike!

Even if we can't kill it, we must severely damage it to create an opportunity for the swarm!

"Tap, tap, tap."

The sheer force of hundreds of tiger mastiffs and worker insects running was astonishing, causing the ground to tremble.

The ocelot, still playing with its prey, spotted the swarm of insects from afar and was about to avoid them.

But the three tiger mastiffs, which were already on the verge of death, suddenly erupted and entangled the two-tailed tiger cat that was trying to escape.

Suddenly, twenty tracking and reconnaissance tiger mastiffs surrounded them and attacked them frantically.

The two-tailed tiger cat instantly flew into a rage, unleashing its full power to easily kill three heavily wounded tiger mastiffs, and then kill several more tiger mastiffs in succession, but it still could not break free from the entanglement.

Just as they were entangled, the swarm of insects finally arrived from hundreds of meters away.

More than twenty dagger-like horns shot out into the air, each one aimed precisely at a tiger-cat's vital spot, aided by the mother nest's calculations.

The two-tailed tiger-cat, led by the leader, was surrounded by three high-level beast soldiers with unicorns.

"Pfft—"

"Pfft—"

The sound of a single horn piercing flesh rang out one after another. The tiger-cat, which had been wantonly slaughtering its prey, was now in a panic and wanted to scatter and flee.

A look of human-like fear appeared on the two-tailed tiger-cat's brutal face. Its intelligence was no less than that of humans, and it knew what the single horn flying from the sky meant.

This is the method of a spiritualist!

Driven by the fear of death, the two-tailed tiger cat erupted.

Its body dodged rapidly, its huge claws leaving afterimages, and it actually hit a unicorn dagger.

"Snap—"

The force from the unicorn dagger was not as great as expected, and it was easily knocked away.

It was struck on the back by a unicorn dagger, which only managed to tear through its fur and get stuck in its muscles and bones.

It should be noted that the ocelot is not known for its defense, yet this attack only broke its skin slightly.

However, before it could even rejoice, the two-tailed ocelot watched helplessly as more than a dozen ordinary ocelots around it suddenly stiffened, their bodies going limp at the same time, and they collapsed to the ground.

This attack wasn't actually aimed at it, but at those ordinary tiger cats that were high-level beast soldiers!

Although Qin Mu's mental power was strong, it was naturally insufficient to kill the two-tailed tiger-cat at the initial beast general level after being divided into more than twenty parts.

Therefore, Qin Mu's initial target was not it.

Once those dozen or so ordinary tiger cats are killed, even without their cover, this low-level beast general monster, along with over a hundred tiger mastiffs, can wear it down.

The next moment, hundreds of tiger mastiffs swarmed and attacked the two-tailed tiger cat.

In the sky, more than a dozen unicorn daggers returned to Qin Mu's backpack like swallows returning to their nests, leaving only three high-level beast soldier-grade unicorns circling in the air, looking for an opportunity to attack.

By manipulating only three unicorn daggers, Qin Mu could make each one unleash an attack at the level of a mid-level warrior.

"Whoosh—"

A single-horned dagger whistled as it hurtled towards the two-tailed tiger cat, who, having anticipated this, unleashed its full power and dodged with lightning speed.

However, just as they dodged one dagger, another came right after.

The two-tailed tiger cat's eyes were bloodshot and it went berserk. It avoided the heart, but its left leg was still pierced.

The moment its left leg was injured, its speed suddenly decreased, and a Tibetan Mastiff seized the opportunity to pounce on it.

The two-tailed tiger cat was enraged. It turned its head, roared, and bit the tiger mastiff, throwing it more than ten meters away.

However, in that short time, several more tiger mastiffs bit its body.

The other tiger mastiffs seized the opportunity, leaped high, and pounced, turning the area where the two-tailed tiger cat was into a mountain of flesh.

Only a few mournful cries could be heard before the two-tailed tiger cat's voice gradually faded until it disappeared completely.
