Devouring Stars: Master of Evolution

Chapter 35 Evolution

Under the protection of the insect swarm, Qin Mu did not go to County 0203, but instead went to the villa area where the initial incubation nest was located.

This hive is too close to the military base. If a military squad happens to patrol here one day, the hive will be easily exposed.

Therefore, Qin Mu came here this time to clean up the traces.

All the Zerg structures, including the three evolution chambers, automatically collapsed at the genetic level, turning into a pool of black liquid.

The swarm of insects gathered some dry wood and piled it on top of the black liquid. Qin Mu personally poured a bucket of gasoline on top and lit it.

As the last trace of the mother nest disappeared into the raging flames, Qin Mu sighed softly.

This mother hive was merely a springboard; its mission is complete, the swarm has grown, and soon more mother hives will appear in the wilderness.

"Walk!"

All Zerg units followed Qin Mu and completely abandoned this nest.

Two days later, when Qin Mu arrived near the mother nest in County 0203, the insect swarm was going through a tough battle.

A herd of around eight hundred wild bulls, led by a high-level beast general-level wild bull, charged wildly through the swarm of insects, slaughtering everything in their path.

Although the swarm mobilized thousands of high-level beastmen-class unicorn boars for a counter-offensive, the situation was difficult under the command of the high-ranking beastman-class general. While not completely routed, they suffered extremely heavy casualties.

Most of the casualties in the swarm were caused by that high-level beast general-level bull. Despite the swarm's numerical advantage, it was still very difficult to completely surround and kill it, given the three-level difference in strength.

The high-level beast general-level monsters are already very intelligent, no less so than humans. Every time the swarm of insects is about to complete its encirclement, it will lead the swarm to escape.

Even so, the wild bull gradually sensed that something was wrong.

Originally, this wild bull was the overlord-level monster in this area, with a population of over 1,200, and two junior beast generals of the same kind under its command.

The problem is that a group of strange monsters has emerged in this area at some unknown time. They have no beast generals to lead them, and the strongest of them are only high-level beast soldiers.

But these monsters inexplicably united and launched a continuous war against the surrounding area, fighting in an extremely frenzied and fearless manner.

Several monster clans were wiped out, and even their people were affected.

Enraged, it led its people in an extremely bloody war against the monsters.

It killed one monster after another, but the continuous battles left even the strong creature exhausted, while enemies continued to pour in from all sides.

Ultimately, its people suffered heavy casualties, and one of its members, a low-level beast general, was also killed in the siege.

In the crisis, it managed to escape with the remaining members of its tribe.

When has it, as a high-ranking beast general, ever suffered such a loss?

These days, it has been leading its people to wander around the perimeter, trying to find an opportunity to kill these strange monsters. It has also become smarter, and each time it kills a group of insects before the swarm can successfully surround them, it will escape directly.

But the bad news is that the more monsters they kill, the more their numbers seem to increase! Meanwhile, their own people are dwindling in number.

What disturbed it most was that it actually found its own kind among the monsters.

A herd of wild bulls somehow joined the group of monsters!

Although it was furious, the intelligent creature had already decided to run away. The number of monsters was increasing, and if this continued, it would be killed sooner or later!

Kill one last batch to avenge your clan, then leave!

It thought to itself.

Just when it thought it could escape again like before.

Without a sound, several short spears shot out from a distance.

"roar--"

With his mind on high alert and constantly on guard against attacks from the surrounding insect swarm, the wild bull immediately spotted the short spear flying towards him.

It roared furiously, its speed exploding beyond the speed of sound, creating a huge sonic boom!

But no matter how fast it is, how could it possibly be faster than a short spear manipulated by mental power?

Seeing that it could not avoid the attack, the bull turned its head to avoid vital areas such as its eyes, intending to withstand the attack head-on.

Its defense is among the best of all high-level beast generals, so how could a mere short spear possibly harm it?

"Pfft—"

"Pfft—"

"Pfft—"

The sound of a short spear piercing flesh rang out. With the help of supersonic inertia, the short spear easily pierced its skin, penetrated its tendons and bones, shredded its internal organs, and finally emerged.

Seven short spears pierced its body, pinning it firmly to the ground.

This powerful beast, whose strength reached the level of a high-level beast general and was known for its defense, was actually killed in one blow!

In its gradually dimming eyes, it saw a young man dressed in black combat uniform flying through the air, holding a long spear and surrounded by short spears, like a god of death descending to earth, frantically slaughtering its people.

"A psychic! How did a human psychic end up with those monsters?"

Its last thought flashed through its mind before it plunged into darkness.

Although Qin Mu is only a mid-level warrior-level mentalist, he can wield a 9-element short spear and ten 8-element short spears. Not to mention this mere high-level warrior-level monster, even a lord-level monster wouldn't dare to take it head-on!

In addition, Qin Mu launched a sneak attack, instantly killing it with a single blow.

In a direct confrontation, this raging bull could have held its own against Qin Mu for a couple of rounds, and wouldn't have died so quickly.

The ordinary bulls following behind the high-level beast general, seeing that their leader had been instantly killed by a human, immediately threw the entire herd into chaos. Some continued to run and attack Qin Mu, while others scattered and fled.

While they were in disarray, Qin Mu was not idle. Apart from three short spears surrounding him as guards, the rest of his short spears went on a rampage, slaughtering the wild bulls.

The number of wild bulls dwindled at an alarming rate. When the swarm of insects closed in and surrounded them, not a single wild bull could escape the killing field; the entire herd was wiped out.

Don't be fooled by Qin Mu's instant kill of a high-level beast general-level monster into thinking it's weak.

It is worth noting that Luo Feng later encountered a severely injured Silver Moon Wolf, whose strength was only at the peak of a high-level warrior.

Although he killed it with the strength of a mid-level warrior-level mentalist, he used the wound on the Silver Moon Wolf's abdomen to directly attack its internal organs.

When Luo Feng controlled a throwing knife to stab a perfectly intact patch of fur on the Silver Moon Wolf's back, not a single scratch could be seen on its fur.

Although this high-level beast general-level raging bull is not as strong as the Silver Moon Ferocious Wolf at the peak of the high-level warrior level, it is superior in terms of defense!

Of course, at that time, Luo Feng's weapon was inferior to Qin Mu's; it was just a 6-element throwing knife, while Qin Mu used a 9-element short spear!

After easily slaughtering the entire herd of wild bulls, Qin Mu ordered the insect swarm to carry their corpses back to the mother nest, where the mother nest would digest and absorb them, converting them into energy.

After these 800-plus wild bulls are digested, they can provide at least tens of thousands of energy points to the insect swarm, which can be described as a timely rain.

Because the mother nest has just evolved into a level two mother nest, and the progress has reached 100%, as long as Qin Mu gives the order, the mother nest can begin to evolve.

Back in the underground garage where the mother nest was located, Qin Mu was excited. He ordered the swarm to temporarily stop expanding and hunting, focusing on defense to ensure the safety of the mother nest during its incubation period.

The underground garage had changed considerably since Qin Mu left. Thanks to the excavation by the worker insects, the ground had been hollowed out several meters around the mother nest, creating a huge space large enough for the mother nest to evolve to level two.

Qin Mu's deep voice rang out.

"Mother Nest, begin evolution!"
