Full-Time Magister: I Had No Intention of Reaching the Dimensional Throne
Chapter 200, Song of Broken Soul
Chapter 200 A Song of Heartbreak
"Don't say that. Jiang Feng will protect her. As partners, it's only right that we look after her." Bai Mo said politely. He had no feelings for Chen Ying, so why was this old ghost being so ambiguous?
Zhao Yulin nodded slightly and hurriedly left with two retainers.
As for the Fire Calamity Fruit he wanted when he came, he wasn't an idiot. Given the vast difference in strength, it was impossible for him to obtain it, so what was the point of leaving it there?
After watching Zhao Yulin leave, Zhao Manyan asked, "Chenying, what are your plans? You can't stay here forever; this isn't a place fit for a human being."
As soon as he said that, he noticed Chen Ying's eyes dimmed, and he quickly explained, "I'm sorry, I misspoke, that's not what I meant."
Shaking her head, Chenying indicated that she didn't care, but the atmosphere around them suddenly became heavy.
"I do have a way to allow Senior Jiang Feng to live a normal life in the city."
Just then, Bai Mo suddenly spoke.
Seeing that everyone, including the Flame Witch Jiang Feng, was looking at him, he silently gave Zhao Manyan a thumbs up and continued:
"Senior Jiang Feng is, after all, a human soul, and it is certainly not good for her to live in the wild. But since her body has become a demon, Senior Jiang Feng can only appear in human cities by signing a contract with a human summoning mage."
Upon hearing this, Chen Ying's eyes widened, and she instinctively felt that Bai Mo was plotting against her mother. Zhao Manyan and Zhang Xiaohou were also dumbfounded.
"Is it really that exciting?" Zhao Manyan muttered to himself, then quickly realized that he couldn't say it.
Bai Mo realized they seemed to have misunderstood, so he continued to explain:
"I have no intention of having Senior Jiang Feng sign a contract with me. I already have a contracted beast."
"So what are your thoughts?" Chen Ying looked at him. "Even if a contract is signed, a person's contracted beast cannot roam freely in the city, and ordinary summoners are not trustworthy."
He nodded slightly, signaling Chen Ying not to rush, then glanced at Ding Yumin, who was watching calmly, seemingly already aware of his thoughts. Bai Mo continued:
"I know a female chief judge of Lingyin Temple, a super-level mage. Her fourth element is summoning, and she happens to have no contract partner."
Upon hearing this, Chen Ying's eyes lit up. The presiding judge of the court had the power to issue a certificate to her contracted beast that allowed it to move freely in the city.
Although someone needs to be with you, you can just stay by your side when the time comes.
Even the Flame Witch Jiang Feng, who had been listening quietly without saying a word, had her eyes flicker slightly, clearly somewhat tempted. If she could, who would want to be in this desolate place, even though it was exceptionally beautiful?
"Who is that presiding judge you mentioned? Is he reliable?" Zhao Manyan asked.
"Leng Qing, she's still a hunter from the Qingtian Hunting Grounds. You can trust the reputation of the Qingtian Hunting Grounds, right?" Bai Mo answered without hesitation.
"Qingtian Hunting Grounds! No wonder you know such an important person." Zhao Manyan understood.
Hearing this, Chen Ying felt much relieved. She wasn't entirely at ease with the family's summoner; the Zhao family were essentially businessmen, and businessmen pursue profit. She didn't know what would happen if her mother returned to the Zhao family and formed a contract with one of their summoning mages.
Therefore, it's better to stay in this desolate northern corner of the scorching plain than to do that.
Looking at her mother, Jiang Feng, Chen Ying asked in her eyes. The Flame Witch remained silent for a long time before finally nodding in agreement.
"Sing~~~~~!"
"She said she could sign a contract with Leng Qing, but if she wasn't satisfied, she would leave, even if it damaged her soul."
Ding Yumin conveyed Jiang Feng's message to everyone. Upon hearing this, Bai Mo nodded, "Don't worry, Sister Leng Qing is a kind and upright person. She won't make you do too much. Moreover, if you want to leave, she will take the initiative to terminate the contract."
"Yingying~~~~~!"
"She said she would wait until the Fire Calamity Fruit ripened and she was bound to Mo Fan's contract before she would return with us."
Then, Ding Yumin looked at Bai Mo and asked, "How are we going to take her back?"
"I had Lingling send a message to Qingqing. She should be coming over in a few days. I believe the Fire Calamity Fruit should be ripe by then."
As Bai Mo was speaking, he suddenly sensed a sonic call coming from the distant Fiery Cloud Forest. Raising an eyebrow, he said to Ding Yumin:
"Someone is calling for help, it's from the military, I'll go check it out."
As soon as he finished speaking, a gentle breeze arose, and Bai Mo vanished from the spot.
"The military?!" Zhang Xiaohou scratched his head.
As a member of the military, the feeling of staying in one place and doing nothing made him slightly uncomfortable.
Riding the wind, Bai Mo swiftly swept past the fiery red leaves, leaving shattered afterimages on the treetops.
The sound of the string flying swiftly located the position of the group of military mages who had sent out a rescue. They were also speeding through the forest, but unlike the others, they were not in good condition, and two of them even needed the help of their companions to escape.
Behind them, a gigantic three-headed serpent was chasing them at incredible speed, smashing through the surrounding fire cloud trees. Its scales scraped against the leaves, making a rapid and violent rustling sound, like a train speeding by.
"Run! Be careful to relay the baton!" the leading female mage commanded, her fingers moving to control the trees in front to clear the way and the vines behind to block the way.
The two displacement mages on the side continuously cast Wind and Earth Waves to ensure that everyone was always enveloped by the two types of magic.
"Over here!"
Clearly uttering the message, Bai Mo controlled the sound string to send it to the ears of the military mages.
The female military mage leading the team immediately lit up her eyes and gave instructions in the direction from which Bai Mo's voice came.
"Go over there, someone responded to my distress call."
"Captain, are they any good enough?" a military mage asked. "What if we have to bring one of them along? Then we'll really be trapped."
"Look back, the Three-Headed Serpent is very close. Without support, we can't escape," the female military mage leading the team said solemnly. Even now, she still couldn't hear any movement from the sound strings she was emitting.
If she could truly believe that the voice transmission she just experienced existed, she would even doubt that it was her own hallucination.
The other military mage actually glanced back, and then quickened his pace. He felt that the three-headed serpent's forked tongue could already lick the back of his head!
They ran for their lives for who knows how long, and they could even smell the stench of snakes, but the so-called reinforcements still hadn't arrived.
Just when the female mage thought they had been tricked, a figure suddenly appeared on the treetop ahead.
The military mages stared wide-eyed as Bai Mo's dashing and handsome face came into clear view. But they felt little joy at the arrival of reinforcements.
Because Bai Mo is too young, and more importantly, he doesn't seem strong.
Just as they were thinking this, they saw the young man before them suddenly emanate an imposing and unshakeable aura.
"ban!"
A solemn decree fell, gathering silver light and suddenly summoning a silver divine image that tore through space, its cold and mysterious radiance shifting. Before anyone could see it clearly, it abruptly descended.
In an instant, everyone felt the intense rustling sound disappear, the cold aura behind them vanished, and the snake stench that had been lingering in their noses dissipated in an instant!
All that remained in his eyes was the young man standing upright on the treetop, and the brilliant silver light shining in his eyes.
The group stopped where Bai Mo had stood and turned around to look.
The enormous three-headed serpent stood frozen in space, while the earth, rocks, grass, and trees that it had smashed around, as well as the fiery cloud trees that had been bent, all remained still in a silver rhomboid space, like an oil painting by an artist.
"Spatial magic, that's quite a bit of mental strength." The female military mages leading the team, who were also practicing dimensional magic, immediately made the assessment.
Bai Mo glanced at her lightly, expressionless, his eyes fixed on the three-headed evil python controlled by the time-delay space.
Its body is dark red, with fine, dense scales interwoven to form exquisite snake patterns. Three ferocious heads are separated at the "seven-inch" position. The one on the right is bluish-green with long, menacing fangs, while the one on the left is a dark brown, thick, and massive rock, with thick and robust leather armor that looks like a city wall!
The head in the middle is fiery red, with beautiful, exquisite and clear fire patterns. You can see even finer lines. Just looking at its fiery eyes is enough to inspire fear!
The aura of a sub-commander was unmistakable, no wonder even the military mages led by Nan Jue couldn't do anything about it and had to flee in a sorry state to seek help.
"Young brother, run! This is a commander, not one we can handle!" A military mage, though thankful that Bai Mo had controlled the Three-Headed Evil Python, had no intention of running with them and shouted.
Nan Jue's eyes narrowed as she sensed the aura of sound magic.
One note after another leaped out, and in the blink of an eye, the seven notes surrounded the white ink, instantly forming a guqin.
"Soul-Chan God!"
As Bai Mo plucked the strings of magic, the sound resonated throughout the space, with notes coalescing and striking the three-headed serpent that had just broken free from the time-lapse space.
"Hiss hiss hiss~~~~~~~~~~~!"
Before the Three-Headed Serpent could retaliate, its body began to tremble involuntarily. Painful hissing emanated from its mouth as it endlessly rolled and twisted its body, banging its head against the ground in an attempt to eliminate the sounds that were churning its mind and tearing at its soul.
Seeing the Three-Headed Serpent in such agony, worse than if it had suffered a fatal injury, yet no one could see any wounds on its body.
So he had no choice but to turn his attention to Nan Jue, who was also a sonic mage.
"This is a type of high-level sonic magic called Soul-Teasing Melody, known as Chaos of the Gods. As the name suggests, the sound of Chaos of the Gods will not harm the body, but will only disturb the mind and shatter the enemy's soul."
Nan Jue's lips moved slightly, and her words echoed in her teammates' ears.
"Each Soul-Teasing Melody is a huge drain on the mental energy of a sound-based mage; the stronger the mental energy, the greater the power. And after playing a piece, a long rest is required. This Soul-Teasing Melody follows a destructive path, which is not consistent with my support and command approach."
After finishing the conversation, Nan Jue did not miss a moment of observation regarding this soul-stirring melody. The cultivation path of a sound-based mage or a dimensional mage is very flexible.
The same is true of the Requiem; in history, some geniuses have even been able to create melodies that heal injuries and accelerate the recovery of magical energy.
Any magic that involves the soul contains infinite mysteries.
Bai Mo's playing continued uninterrupted, transitioning from light and melodious to intense and uplifting, then to fierce and urgent, before finally settling into tranquility.
Countless sound waves spread out, each wisp of chaotic sound requiring his intense concentration. When the soul-stirring melody ended, the giant serpent before him fell silent; its rocky head and fanged head even shattered from the pain of its repeated impacts with the ground.
It is not a ferocious beast that cultivates the soul and spirit, nor does it have any means to protect against soul attacks or prevent such soul sounds.
It's like a powerful, unarmored army fighting a well-equipped enemy; they can't offer any resistance at all.
After killing the sub-commander, Bai Mo waved his hand to collect his remnant soul, fed it to his Azure Blood Lion, and then floated down from the treetop.
Looking at the group of military mages in front of him, or more precisely, at the leader.
This is an absolutely 'handsome' female military mage. She has long, straight, and slender legs, with delicate and upright calves and full thighs that even her military trousers are taut. She is exceptionally tall, only half a palm's length shorter than Bai Mo.
With short, yellow hair cascading down his shoulders, his cool and aloof face was adorned with a rare, delicate hooked nose. His single eyelids were paired with bright, narrow eyes that seemed to electrify with a flash of cold light!
That's so cool and stylish!
After taking a quick look, Bai Mo then shifted his gaze to the other military mages, a total of seven, many of whom were seriously injured.
As Bai Mo was sizing them up, the soldiers were also sizing him up, all astonished by his age and cultivation level.
"My name is Nan Jue, an officer of the Western Military Department. I came here to search for the Fire Calamity Fruit, but unfortunately we encountered that Three-Headed Evil Python, and many of my teammates died."
At this point, Nan Jue's voice dimmed slightly, "Thank you for saving me this time, I will remember it."
"You know me?" Bai Mo asked, puzzled.
"I don't know." Nan Jue shook her head, not understanding why he asked that.
"I don't know how you remember me, how you remember my handsome face?" Bai Mo asked again.
Having just endured an incredibly tense and thrilling escape, the military mages suddenly relaxed and couldn't help but laugh upon hearing this. They all cheered, "Yes, yes, yes!"
"Young man, your face is quite memorable."
"Our captain will never forget it!"
They were speaking in unison, one might think it was just one person talking. After the meeting, Nan Jue glanced around, her cold eyes slightly glaring, and gave them a warning before turning to look at Bai Mo.
"I thought you would introduce yourself, but I didn't expect you to be such a smooth talker."
"Okay, I was being rude." Bai Mo shrugged nonchalantly. "Then remember this, my name is Bai Mo."
"Never heard of you. Judging from your appearance, I thought you were quite famous." Nan Jue looked around, and then spoke.
"Yes, just like Nan Jue." Nodding casually, Bai Mo sensed the sonic waves that had been sent flying. "Your military is here looking for the Fire Calamity Fruit?"
Nan Jue stopped in her tracks, heading towards the Starry Sky Tree, and turned to look at him. "Looks like you've got it."
"I don't. It's being watched over by a monarch, who should be the overlord of this area. You'd better not get your hands on it."
After saying something that was half true and half false, Bai Mo looked the man up and down with a very generous expression; he just liked looking at pretty girls.
"Do you need me to escort you out? This three-headed evil python should be the only one causing trouble in this Fire Cloud Forest."
"No need. Since we can't get the Fire Calamity Fruit, our mission has failed, and we should return."
Nan Jue turned around, glanced back at him, and said, "Goodbye."
