Chapter 25 Spring Has Arrived

In the sparse woods, the calls of unknown birds occasionally drifted from afar. The sunset cast its glow on the ground, and the ankle-deep wild grass was broken by a foot wearing a black boot.

Bai Mo bent down, stretched out her fair and slender hand, and picked a palm-sized, bluish-white flower from the edge of the trampled wild grass.

The Wind Spirit Flower is a green flower.

It's a favorite food of the Gale Wolves during their breeding season around Dinghu Lake, and it's widely distributed. Bai Mo doesn't quite understand why the Gale Wolves like to eat this during their breeding season; perhaps it's an aphrodisiac?

If it weren't for the materials list, Bai Mo wouldn't have known that these kinds of plants were also needed for casting.

The moment it bent down, a swift white shadow pounced fiercely at its side.

"Buzz~~~~~~~!"

The previously peaceful space suddenly trembled. Facing the Gale Wolf that opened its mouth to bite his waist and belly, Bai Mo simply reached out and pushed it away.

The Swift Wolf, which was twice the size of a motorcycle, didn't even have time to let out a scream before it was sent flying at an even faster speed than it had come from, as if it had been hit by a high-powered sports car.

It smashed through two thick trees, crashed heavily to the ground, convulsed, and struggled a few times. Clearly, it had broken countless bones and could not stand up.

Bai Mo stood up and put the Wind Spirit Flower in his hand into his spatial storage.

Then he touched a small earring clipped to his ear. It was a sound-based detection magic device, given to him by his mother, Zhuang Xingyan, when she heard he was going out to hunt demons.

With this thing, he could predict the future and discover the movements of all living things within a hundred meters.

As for beyond 100 meters, that won't work. After all, this is just a magical artifact and cannot replace the detection capabilities of a sound-based mage.

Seeing the Gale Wolf lying on the ground in the distance, unable to get up again, Bai Mo didn't care whether it was faking it like the previous one, and directly reached out his hand.

A faint silver light flickered in his eyes, and a spatial hand grabbed the Gale Wolf's head, twisted it forcefully, and ripped the wolf's head off.

Then he collected the wolf's heart's essence blood, which was also listed on the materials list. He really didn't understand why these were needed for forging.

Although the Wind Spirit Flower is widely distributed, it does not grow in large patches. Within a fifty-meter radius, there are at most ten flowers, and he has already picked all the ones within that fifty-meter radius. He still needs to pick twenty more.

After walking another hundred meters, Bai Mo plucked another Wind Spirit Flower, frowned, and left the area without leaving a trace.

He heard human voices, which seemed to be collecting Wind Spirit Flowers as well.

"Boss, what do we need this for? This flower is useless to humans."

"The four elders said that this is the swift wolves' favorite food during their breeding season, and it can attract their attention."

Why try to attract their attention?

"It's breeding season for the Gale Wolves, and there are quite a few wolf cubs."

As the footsteps faded away, the sounds also gradually disappeared. Bai Mo silently pondered their conversation. It seemed they were trying to capture a Gale Wolf cub, but it could also be a cub of a higher-ranking Shadow Wolf.

They are of the same lineage, and their reproductive periods should be roughly the same.

Shadow Wolf cubs can be contracted beasts for some summoners, while Gale Wolves are excellent tamers, good combat partners for the Guard Division, and a type of pet that some wealthy people like to keep.

Meanwhile, some people buy Swift Wolf meat, believing that it will make their dogs stronger if they eat it.

But that was none of his business. He had already collected half of the items on the materials list, and it was getting dark.

With so many demons in the wilderness not far from the Demon City during the day, the wilderness will be even more dangerous later. Bai Mo decided to call it a day.

Bai Family Courtyard, Qingyuan District.

After completing the daily card draw and drawing a Wind Elemental Juvenile Commander, Bai Mo decided to relax a bit.

He opened Fetion; there had been a notification earlier, but he hadn't checked it because he was going to participate in a lottery. Now, however, it was from Ding Yumin.

Since they added each other on Fetion, they chat occasionally.

Yu Mian: Do you know about the All-Shanghai Magic High School Tournament?

Yu Mian: Went to draw cards again / Confused / Confused

Bai Mo: Yes

Bai Mo: Yes, I know about the competition. I've already registered.

Yumian: How's the harvest? (Gacha pull)

Bai Mo: I didn't find what I wanted. Are you going to participate?

Rain Sleep: No

Bai Mo: Doubtful/

Yu Mian: You mentioned last time that senior year classes were a bit boring and you didn't want to attend, so I'm just reminding you.

Yu Mian: If we win the competition, we'll get a special admission and won't have to attend classes anymore.

Bai Mo: The little shark stopped thinking.JPG

Bai Mo: How about we start over? I'll pretend I don't know.

Rain Sleep:

Yu Mian: Rolls eyes / I'm going to start cultivating.

Bai Mo: Okay

Sensing something amiss, Bai Mo put away his phone and looked up at Zhuang Xingyan, who had silently taken up residence nearby using shadow magic.

"Mom, what are you doing standing there?!"

"Looking at my daughter-in-law," Zhuang Xingyan said with a smile to Bai Mo. "Your brother is a blockhead, so the continuation of our family line depends on you."

Bai Mo rolled her eyes. "Why don't you just arrange a blind date for Bai Hanxing? I'm not even an adult yet."

"It's okay, Mom isn't old-fashioned, I don't object to you dating early."

"Mom, why don't you go play mahjong? That's more reliable."

Bai Mo raised his hand and turned off the light and shadow armor playing on the TV, then got up and went back to his room.

"Buzzing"

My phone vibrated; a message had arrived via Fetion.

Leng Qing has requested to add you as a friend.

Click to agree.

Leng Qing: Tomorrow morning at six o'clock, at the Lanting Hotel, use your spatial abilities to retrieve the sand sculpture on the rooftop and bring it to the Qingtian Hunting Grounds.

Bai Mo: Sand sculpture?

Leng Qing: Sandstone Sculpture

Leng Qing: This is a new task; you'll get 100,000.

Bai Mo: Okay

After replying to the message, Bai Mo was speechless. He really was just doing odd jobs; he was just a tool.

Time flies. Last month it was still chilly and drizzly. This month, the spring breeze is warm and the spring sun is shining.

After a month of being a tool, the 15 million I received from Huo Tuo is still there, but the 9 million I saved has been used up in the past 30 days.

Aside from having him transport a few works of art that had been turned into sculptures during her battles, Leng Qing never went on any more missions.

Bai Mo looked at the pickled radish and old duck soup that had been served in front of him and said to Ding Yumin, who was sitting opposite him, "Have you been to this restaurant before? It's very close to Mingzhu Academy."

"No"

"The pickled radish and old duck soup here is delicious, have a taste." Bai Mo ladled a bowl of soup for himself and a bowl for her, placing them in front of her.

"Hmm." Ding Yumin stared at the soup in the bowl, its light aroma mixed with a hint of sourness that made one's mouth water.

She picked up the bowl and took a small sip. Bai Mo noticed that the rather large bowl partially obscured her face and glanced at the porcelain white spoon placed beside her.

Suddenly I laughed.

"Shanghai News: With the arrival of spring, the Dingshan Gale Wolf Clan has entered a restless phase, and has recently been seen harassing Qingyuan District. Bai Changjun, the chief of the Qingyuan District defense, has issued instructions."

What are you laughing at?

The sound of the news from the television in the lobby, along with Ding Yumin's slightly warm voice, reached my ears.

Bai Mo also picked up the bowl and took a sip of soup, then looked at the other person's glistening lips moistened by the soup and shook his head.

I didn't laugh.

"I am a spiritualist monk."

Bai Mo paused, realizing he'd forgotten about that. Seeing there was no way to avoid it, he said seriously, "I think it's kind of cute that you drink directly from the bowl without a spoon."

Ding Yumin glanced at the clean white spoon on the plate beside her, nodded calmly, and said lightly, "I learned it from you."

"Really? When?"

"Last time at our school, we had soup in a clay pot. You said it felt more special that way," Ding Yumin said, glancing at him lightly.

"Emmm, are you stupid? I said clay pot soup, nothing else."

"You're swearing."

Bai Mo shrugged, looking completely unconcerned.

"I have no manners."

Ding Yumin was a little speechless. She had always been good at controlling her emotions, so why did she keep fluctuating when she met this person?

After the meal, Bai Mo arrived at the Qingtian Hunting Grounds. Leng Qing had just sent him a message saying that he had a mission to complete.
