Upon entering Mingguang Village, everything was just as Lin Chen had seen outside. The entire village looked extremely deserted, as if no one was there, and it was lifeless.

However, the size of the village was somewhat beyond Lin Chen's expectations. Although it was built in the mountains, it seemed to stretch endlessly, giving people a sense of openness and spaciousness.

After passing through several houses, Lin Chen discovered that although Mingguang Village was located in a remote area, the houses were all built with an unknown type of stone bricks, which looked very sturdy and were not the kind of mud brick houses commonly seen in the countryside.

Continuing forward, Lin Chen and the others passed a farmhouse courtyard. The gate of the courtyard was not closed; it was simply left open.

"Is anyone there?" Lin Chen called out. "If anyone's there, say something."

"It shouldn't be there. Let's go in and take a look. Anyway, the gate isn't closed, so we can see what's going on," Lingling said.

"I think it's fine, but we still need to be careful," Liu Lin agreed.

Upon entering the courtyard, Lin Chen discovered that it was just an ordinary farmhouse. To the right was a small vegetable garden, and to the left was a row of low houses, which were probably where poultry and livestock were kept, but there were no poultry or livestock in sight at the moment.

After passing through the courtyard, they arrived at the inner room. Lin Chen and the others found that the door to the house was not closed and opened easily with a gentle push. Without any hesitation, Lin Chen went in first.

Inside the house, an eight-immortal table and four long benches were placed on the left side of the room. Several small dishes were also placed on the table, but these dishes had long since spoiled and turned into a black lump, emitting a foul stench.

"Judging from this, no one has been here for a long time. Not only have the vegetables turned black, but the furniture is also covered with a thick layer of dust," Lin Chen said, expressing his thoughts.

"Search separately, Lin Chen, you on the left, Sister Lin, you on the right. Speak up if you find anything." Lingling sat on Garurumon's back, with no intention of entering the room for the time being.

Lin Chen nodded and walked towards the room on the left.

The room on the left was not open as before. Just when Lin Chen thought the door was locked, he gently pushed it open with a creak.

Lin Chen stood at the doorway, where a simple double wooden bed came into view, with a gray quilt neatly arranged on it, and a wardrobe placed against the wall.

Lin Chen cautiously entered the bedroom, wary of any potential dangers, but after a thorough inspection, he discovered that the entire bedroom was covered in a thick layer of dust.

"Did you find anything?" Lingling asked.

"No, the entire room is covered with a thick layer of dust. Even if there are any clues, they've all been obscured by this dust," Lin Chen said.

"Me too," Liu Lin said succinctly.

"Let's go check out the neighbor's yard," Lingling suggested.

Lin Chen and his companion did not refuse and went directly to the farmhouse next door. However, the gate to the courtyard was locked, but this did not stop Lin Chen.

Lin Chen activated the magical artifact mark of the Windwalker Boots in his spiritual world, and a pair of cyan boots appeared at his feet. Lin Chen lightly leaped and jumped directly into the courtyard, then opened the courtyard gate from the inside.

Upon entering the courtyard, Lin Chen and his group went straight to the inner room. The door to the inner room was only slightly closed and not locked; it was opened with a gentle push.

Upon entering the inner room, the furnishings were almost identical to the previous room. On the table were food that had spoiled to the point of being moldy and black, and the room was covered with a thick layer of dust.

"Based on the current findings, the people of Mingguang Village have been missing for a long time, and they all left during mealtimes," Lingling guessed.

"That's very possible, but what exactly caused the villagers of Mingguang Village to leave?" Lin Chen speculated. "Or perhaps they simply disappeared."

For a moment, Lin Chen and the other two fell into deep thought.

Just then, Garurumon's voice interrupted Lin Chen and the other two's thoughts.

"Lin Chen, something's up."

"What's going on?" Lin Chen looked around warily, but found nothing, so he turned his attention back to Garurumon.

"This bowl moved." Garurumon shrunk its size, went inside, and pointed to a bowl on the table with its left forelimb.

Lin Chen and the other two opened their eyes wide and stared intently at the bowl that Garurumon was pointing at.

Sure enough, there was a short mark on the bottom of the bowl indicating that it had been moved, and dust had accumulated on one side of the bottom of the bowl in that spot.

"Garurumon, did you see what was moving?" Lin Chen asked.

"There's nothing there." Garurumon paused, shook its head, and continued, "Well, you can't say there's nothing there. Just now, Lin Chen, your shadow touched it."

"shadow?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Chen and the other two looked at Lin Chen's shadow but didn't notice anything amiss.

"Could he be a shadow mage?" Lin Chen asked Lingling.

"It shouldn't be. When a shadow mage casts Shadow Step, there will be magical fluctuations. Even without magical fluctuations, it would be impossible to make such a slight movement using your shadow, unless it's a summon from the dark dimension, but they wouldn't be that bored," Lingling replied.

"Although we don't understand the situation yet, it's still a discovery. We'll just have to be more careful in the future," Lingling said after a moment of silence. Then she looked at Liu Lin and asked, "Sister Lin, where does Sister Rourou live?"

"It seems to be in the south of the village." Liu Lin walked out of the house, looked up at the sun in the sky, determined the direction, and said, "We are in the east now."

"We should have a pretty good understanding of the situation here. Let's head over to Rou Rou's house now; we might find something different." Ling Ling said, riding her Garurumon towards the courtyard.

Lin Chen and Liu Lin followed closely behind.

After leaving the villager's house, Lin Chen and his group walked along the dirt road in Mingguang Village. On the way, they came across a courtyard with its gate open. Lin Chen and the others went in to search it, but as before, they found nothing of value.

"This should be it, No. 21, Mingguang Village." In the east of Mingguang Village, Liu Lin looked at the building number outside the courtyard and nodded.

"Let's go in and take a look."

Lin Chen gently pushed the courtyard gate, only to find it locked. He then climbed over the wall again and entered the courtyard to open the gate.

Upon arriving at the inner room, Lin Chen and the others noticed that the door was wide open, and the dust on the doorknob was significantly less than that around it, clearly indicating that the door had been opened by Rou Rou or Wang Min.
