Chapter 200 Duel Club

Rice wasn't being sarcastic or mocking Daphne; only now did he truly believe that the girl had a talent for potions.

Previously, Daphne had always prepared potions according to her own or Snape's instructions, doing exactly what was written on the blackboard or told her to do. This wasn't to say she was incompetent, because many young wizards couldn't even make it by following instructions, but to become a true master of potions, relying solely on the teacher's blackboard instructions was not enough.

If you always rely on blackboard writing and notes, your ultimate achievement will only be that of an outstanding pharmacist.

Snape noticed Daphne's actions and strode over to her table, watching her retrieve a handkerchief that had been boiling for almost a minute from the pot.

"Miss Daphne, I need to know the reason for your behavior just now." Snape looked at Daphne, his face expressionless, making it difficult to discern his thoughts from his expression.

"This way it takes less time, the juicing is more efficient, and you don't have to laboriously cut the berries," Daphne pointed to the small clump of berries on the chopping board of the little wizard next to her. If you were to cut them one by one, it would take at least fifteen minutes.

In the preparation of the raw materials for the medicine, most of the time is spent cutting berries. Daphne's approach really saves a lot of time.

Snape's gaze fell on the damp handkerchief.

Daphne panicked for a moment, but she calmed down after realizing that this behavior was approved by Rice.

"The medicine needs to be filtered after preparation, so I think it's okay to put the handkerchief directly into the pot to boil. It can also improve the utilization rate of the extracted juice."

Snape nodded, then took the shoe from her hand, turned it over, and gestured for Daphne to examine the condition of the heel.

"During the hammering, dirt from the shoes got onto the handkerchief, and then you threw it into your cauldron. Your potion is contaminated," Snape said softly, then gently placed her shoes on the table.

Daphne: Σ(っ°Д°;)っ

"It will have some impact, but not much impact on the drug's effectiveness. It's a good idea. Remember to think more before you act next time—you're a Slytherin, you need to learn to use your brain and not act recklessly like some others." After giving Daphne some advice and making a sarcastic remark about the Gryffindor lion cubs, Snape left.

Daphne benefited from the school's reputation; if she were a Gryffindor, she would definitely lose points.

However, after she demonstrated this, the other students present followed suit, finding something to wrap the elderberries and then trying to crush them.

Perhaps because Daphne's method saved a lot of time and energy, today's potions class was surprisingly uneventful.

By the time class ended, even Snape's expression had calmed down considerably.

"Very creative. Potions does require a bit of innovation, but you should think things through before you innovate." Rice said as he and Daphne reviewed their experiences and takeaways from the class and walked out of the Potions classroom.

As Rice passed the bulletin board in the foyer, he noticed a small group of people gathered around it, reading from a piece of parchment that had just been nailed up. Several Gryffindor students looked very excited and beckoned Harry and Ron over.

Rice went over to take a look and found that it was actually a notice. The notice said that the school would be establishing a dueling club, and tonight was the club's first gathering. Interested young wizards could attend.

"Interesting. Is the school finally going to focus on cultivating students' practical combat skills?" Rice was very happy to see that Hogwarts had decided to open a dueling club.

What Rice didn't know was that the founding of the Duel Club was also inextricably linked to him.

Previously, a spy from the Secret Order attempted to infiltrate Hogwarts, but was discovered by Rice, who then tracked him down and killed him. The spy's body was then sent to Dumbledore by the owner of the Hog's Head.

The school had been repeatedly broken into by suspicious individuals, and Dumbledore, based on experience, judged that this watchful gaze would not cease for a long time to come—something unprecedented. Finding ways to improve the students' self-defense capabilities should indeed be put on the agenda. Fortunately, Hogwarts now possessed the most reliable Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in recent years…

Thus, at Dumbledore's suggestion, the Duel Club was established.

"This looks interesting." Daphne looked thoughtfully at the notice on the bulletin board.

"Let's join in," Rice decided, also taking the opportunity to see the current fighting level of the young wizards at Hogwarts.

He didn't have high expectations for it—as long as it wasn't a firework display, and as long as it was a little more exciting than when Muggles set off fireworks, he would be fine with it.

At 8 p.m., almost the entire school's students came out.

The term "Duel Club" holds just as much appeal for energetic young wizards as "Quidditch."

Have a spectacular duel with that guy from the neighboring academy you don't like—one that won't get you locked up; make a big splash in front of pretty young girls; learn some practical combat magic...

Everyone had different purposes, but the destination was the same. Students flooded into the auditorium, and the sisters Rice and Daphne were no exception. Like everyone else, they entered the dueling club's venue.

The dining tables from each college had been removed from the auditorium, and the ceiling had become as black as velvet, illuminated by thousands of candles floating in mid-air. At the center of the auditorium was a circular platform, its height and shape ensuring that students in every corner of the hall could clearly see what was happening on stage.

In one corner of the auditorium, hundreds of cushions were piled up, and a thick, plush carpet covered the floor. It was clear that tonight's lessons would involve more than just theory.

The students crowded around the circular platform, wands in hand, their faces beaming with excitement. The area around the platform was packed like a sardine can, everyone trying to get as close to it as possible.

"Who do you think will teach us how to duel?" Rice heard Astoria's voice.

Daphne responded, "It's very likely Professor Flitwick; he was a dueling champion in his youth. But there will definitely be professors from other disciplines involved—we can't have Professor Flitwick dueling with his students, can we?"

Rice turned to look at Daphne: the child looked eager to try, her knuckles white as she gripped the wand.
