Ancient Wizards Return to Hogwarts...
Chapter 293 Helga's Feast and Rice's Vigilance
Chapter 293 Helga's Feast and Rice's Vigilance
For the unicorns in the Forbidden Forest, today was truly outrageous.
As a sacred and pure race, the unicorn, with its many treasures, is often coveted by wizards.
The female unicorn frozen in place by Hufflepuff was quite knowledgeable among the unicorns. She knew some dark wizards coveted their blood, that her horn was valuable, and she'd even heard rumors that their tail hair could be sold to wizards. But this was the first time she'd ever seen anyone coveting her milk!
That's so strange!
The unicorn swayed uncomfortably, trying to contract its belly, looking extremely unwilling.
Hufflepuff's efforts were repeatedly thwarted by the unicorn's lack of cooperation. She raised her hand and gently patted the unicorn's back to soothe it.
"Sweetie, I just want a little milk, just a little, I promise I won't squeeze out more!" Hufflepuff's gentle voice seemed to have a magical power that calmed the unicorn down.
It stared with its big, bright eyes, as if trying to determine whether what Hufflepuff said was true or false.
Seeing that her words had worked, Hufflepuff immediately continued to soothe them: "I will not harm you. You are such beautiful creatures, the most beautiful beings in the Forbidden Forest—"
The unicorn blinked: This guy in front of me doesn't seem to have any hostility at all?
The unicorn has an extremely keen intuition for good and evil. After carefully observing Hufflepuff for a while, she gained the unicorn's trust.
"Good baby, good darling~" Even though the unicorn in front of her had already given birth to cubs, Helga still called her "baby" and "darling" all the time, making her very happy.
"I really just wanted a little bit of beast milk to try. I won't take it for nothing. I'll definitely give you a satisfactory compensation..." Hufflepuff stroked the unicorn's back while removing the restraints from its limbs.
Helga's sincerity moved the unicorn, which completely relaxed, its round belly drooping down, as if it had agreed to Helga's request.
Helga was overjoyed to see the unicorn give in. She immediately took out a clean glass jar from her bosom, tapped it lightly with her wand, and the jar grew more than ten times its original size, turning into a small glass bucket.
Helga squatted in front of the unicorn's belly and skillfully began to milk it.
However, Hufflepuff didn't hold back with the unicorn; when they said "a little," they actually filled the entire jar before stopping.
Helga weighed the heavy jar in her hands, a look of joy like that of a bountiful harvest spreading across her face. She turned her head and saw the unicorn looking at her with pitiful eyes, clearly dissatisfied with Helga's "little bit": If she squeezed so much, what would her own child eat?
The unicorn cub, huddled beside its mother, mustered its courage and growled twice at Hufflepuff, conveying its displeasure to her.
"I told you, I won't treat you badly." Hufflepuff pulled a jar of honey from his sleeve and placed it in front of the unicorn, then magically produced a large pile of carrots, pumpkins, and other vegetables from a basket. It was a small compensation for the unicorn.
After putting down the "nutritional supplements," Hufflepuff left the meadow, even waving goodbye to the unicorns before she left.
Hufflepuff, who considered himself to have a good relationship with the unicorns, thought he would be able to get a stable supply of unicorn milk in the future.
Hufflepuff, filled with the joy of a bountiful harvest, headed out of the Forbidden Forest. She was already planning how to use the animal milk—some to make cheese, and the rest to make yogurt; it would be too wasteful to just boil it and drink it.
Suddenly, a series of "click-clack" sounds came from the surrounding woods.
Hufflepuff stopped in her tracks, somewhat bewildered: she had never heard such a sound before. The very next second she stopped, a giant spider pounced on her from the tree.
This was supposed to be a perfect hunt; the spider's timing was extremely precise, and its attack was very decisive. The only problem was that it chose the wrong target.
Hufflepuff simply sidestepped the spider's seemingly inevitable attack, then pointed his wand, immobilizing the spider.
"It's a species I've never seen before." Hufflepuff took a few steps closer and carefully observed the eight-eyed giant spider in front of him.
The eight-eyed giant spider has a terrifying appearance; an ordinary person would be terrified just by looking at it. But Hufflepuff remained unmoved and even poked the spider's body with his hand.
"I've heard that some Muggles cook spiders. This spider is a bit big, but it's still a spider..." Hufflepuff looked at the large spider in front of him thoughtfully.
First, you need to confirm whether its meat is poisonous.
Hufflepuff quickly removed a spider leg and, looking at the glistening, white flesh beneath the carapace, concluded that it was most likely non-toxic.
Helga, who carried the antidote with her, decided to try it immediately.
She took out a small silver knife, cut a slice of meat from the cut surface, and put it in her mouth to chew. After a couple of chews, Hufflepuff's eyes lit up: this thing tasted quite good, crisp, tender, and sweet, somewhat like lobster, and more importantly, it was completely non-toxic!
Encouraged, Hufflepuff quickly disassembled the giant spider in front of him into parts, only to find, to his dismay, that only the leg meat was clean, and the rest of the meat was not very suitable for ordinary people to eat.
Helga discarded all the inedible parts, including the venom sac, and left the scene with only a few spider legs.
On her way back, she picked some mushrooms, planning to make a delicious mushroom soup.
Back at Hogwarts Castle, she didn't even bother with lunch, immediately starting to prepare the ingredients she had just harvested. Once all the ingredients were properly stored, Hufflepuff had already come up with a recipe for them.
So the next day at breakfast, Rice received an invitation.
Daphne, sitting next to him, curiously leaned over to see what was written in the letter.
"Professor White invited me to her office for dinner tonight..." Rice stretched out a hand and rubbed his chin.
"Wow! That's amazing!" Daphne exclaimed, her eyes filled with envy. "Professor White is the best at food magic; her cooking must be delicious."
The food that Ms. White had treated her to in the desert had left a very deep impression on Daphne. This also made her extremely envious of Rice, who had been invited to dine with her.
Rice didn't respond. His experience told him that if Helga puts something in front of you and you haven't seen what the food originally looked like, you'd better be wary.
He quickly came up with a good solution: "Daphne, Astoria, would you two like to attend Professor White's dinner party? I think I can take you with me."
