Chapter 83 Daphne's Unlucky Days

As Charlie and his friends rode brooms, carrying the box containing Norbert, into the night sky and gradually became small black dots, Harry and Ron felt a sense of relief: the heavy burden on their hearts had finally disappeared.

She wanted to see when the two of them would realize that she had left the invisibility cloak on the tower.

"So how did Hagrid get his hands on that dragon egg?"

"I don't know, I'll go back and ask him—"

"So what are you two doing here so late at night instead of sleeping?!" A furious female voice rang out from downstairs, making the three of them feel as if they had fallen into an ice cellar.

Professor McGonagall appeared, her face flushed and her breathing rapid, as if she had run a long way. Behind her were Professors Flitwick and Sprout, both dressed in their pajamas. Professor Flitwick gripped his wand tightly in his hand, while Professor Sprout held a wand in one hand and a strangely shaped plant in the other.

As the professor on duty tonight, coincidentally, Professor McGonagall witnessed Charlie and his party landing in the castle courtyard.

A mysterious figure suddenly appeared at Hogwarts at night? This is no small matter. She immediately connected the previous Halloween troll incident with what she had seen and heard tonight.

This is a dark wizard coveting the Philosopher's Stone infiltrating Hogwarts!

Having reached this conclusion, Professor McGonagall rushed to the astronomical tower where the unknown person had landed and summoned her guardian spirit to wake the two reliable professors, Flitwick and Sprout, from their sleep.

She believed that the three of them working together would be enough to wipe out these dark wizards who had infiltrated the school.

Instead of encountering the dark wizard, they ran into Harry and Ron, who were wandering around the castle late at night instead of sleeping.

"Minerva..." Flitwick tugged at Professor McGonagall's sleeve, and she suddenly realized: the Potter and Weasley matter could be put aside for now, the key was to find out where those who had sneaked into the school had gone—they had most likely heard the Potters' voices and gone into hiding.

Professor McGonagall gripped her wand and cautiously made her way upstairs.

Harry and Ron stood to one side, not daring to utter a word, much less ask Professor McGonagall why she was acting so strangely. Daphne, on the other hand, put on her Invisibility Cloak the moment she heard Professor McGonagall's voice. She was lucky; Professor McGonagall only saw Harry and Ron walking ahead and didn't notice her.

Professor Sprout shielded the two behind him, while Flitwick remained stationary, secretly observing Harry and Ron. He feared they might be infiltrators in disguise, and if they made any unusual moves, he would not hesitate to knock them unconscious.

Professor McGonagall went up to the astronomical tower and searched the area, but found no trace of outsiders.

She squinted her eyes.

A Disillusionment Spell? Or some other trick? No problem!

"Manifestation Charm! Appearance Charm!" She raised her wand high above her head, casting a Manifestation Charm and an Appearance Charm around her.

The next moment, traces left by previous people began to appear on the tower's floor tiles in reverse chronological order: first, three sets of footprints leading downstairs, then the phantom images of four people riding flying brooms...

Standing silently to the side, Daphne, who thought she had escaped a disaster, felt her blood run cold when she saw the three rows of footprints.

She instinctively used her flight magic, wrapping herself in Harry's Invisibility Cloak as she flew towards the outside of the tower, but it was too late. If she had run out the moment Professor McGonagall arrived, she might have been able to escape; now she was trapped.

Noticing the unusual number of people, Professor McGonagall suddenly waved her wand, and in an instant, all the windows in the Astronomy Tower slammed shut, followed by a gust of wind that swept through the tower.

Before Daphne could react, her invisibility cloak was blown off by the wind. She could feel the gazes of three professors and two classmates fixed on her.

Daphne: ...

She gave an awkward smile. "Professor McGonagall, please allow me to explain."

Explanation? There isn't one.

Professor McGonagall, who was so angry that she was about to lose her mind, conjured a rope with her wand and pulled Daphne down from mid-air, then made her stand with Harry and Ron.

The three of them huddled together in a corner of the tower like chicks, shivering, awaiting Professor McGonagall's judgment.

After investigating with magic, Professor McGonagall ruled out the possibility of someone infiltrating Hogwarts—there were indeed outsiders who came, but they quickly left with a large chest.

Professor McGonagall suppressed her anger and, after dealing with the most important matter, turned her attention to Daphne and the other two.

Immediately afterward, Flitwick and Sprout had the déjà vu of witnessing the roar letter being opened. Professor McGonagall's roar could be heard throughout the entire Astronomy Tower.

About three minutes later, Professor McGonagall regained her composure.

"I can't believe it. It's one in the morning, and there are two Gryffindors and one Slytherin, not sleeping in their dormitories, but out in the Astronomy Tower. Explain yourselves." After asking the question, Professor McGonagall herself felt quite strange: When did Gryffindor students start acting together with Slytherin children?

Harry and Ron were completely dumbfounded, and even Daphne, who always considered herself quick-witted and intelligent, really didn't know how to answer.

Seeing that the three of them were like mutes, Professor McGonagall felt her anger rising again.

"If you can't answer that question, then tell me who you met. Don't tell me you just happened to run into them."

"It's my brother, Charlie, and his friends," Ron said in a very low voice.

Professor McGonagall narrowed her eyes.

Charlie Weasley, a name she knew well; she knew the boy had gone to Romania to study dragons after graduation. A series of key clues connected, and a horrifying truth began to emerge.

It's highly likely that Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Daphne Greengrass hatched a fire dragon inside the castle! Otherwise, there's no way to explain why the three of them would meet Charlie Weasley in the Astronomy Tower in the middle of the night and let him take away a box of things. It couldn't have been that Ron made some pies for his brother, could it?
