Ancient Wizards Return to Hogwarts...
Chapter 90 Nightmare
Chapter 90 Nightmare
In Rice's eyes, not all corpses are suitable for casting necromancy—first, they must be "fresh" enough; second, they must be powerful enough; and finally, they must conform to his aesthetic standards.
The troll that Daphne killed earlier was certainly fresh, but it was so filthy and ugly that Rice couldn't stand it. Besides, trolls weren't exactly rare, and several professors from the school were on their way, so time was of the essence. Therefore, he abandoned the troll's corpse.
Today's situation is different. What's in front of us is the corpse of a unicorn, and it's one that just died. This perfectly matches Rice's requirements.
He took out his wand and pressed it against the unicorn's heart. With a surge of magic, the wand sank into the unicorn's body.
Next, he cut his palm, letting the blood drip onto the ground, and used his blood to outline an equilateral triangle magic circle with the unicorn's corpse as the center, the pattern of which was not complicated.
From an outsider's perspective, Rice's actions were pure black magic, but in Rice's eyes, wasn't it a sacred spell that granted the dead new life? There was no magic more radiant than this.
The magic circle was drawn in no time. Rice's face turned pale from blood loss, but her eyes shone with excitement.
Rice's eyes now shine.
After quickly tending to his wound and stopping the bleeding, Rice began carefully searching the open space for any traces left by the hooded man. Fortunately, the hooded man had fled in haste, taking only his severed arm and leaving the blood behind.
Rice waved his hand, and the dirt stained with the hooded man's blood rose from the ground and gathered into a ball. Rice placed this blood ball at one corner of the triangle. At the other two corners, he placed some dirt stained with unicorn blood and some dirt stained with his own blood, respectively.
At this point, the three crucial elements—the enemy's blood, one's own blood, and the spellcaster's blood—are all ready, and the most important preliminary preparations for necromancy have been completed.
To ensure success, Rice took out some essential oils and potion ingredients he had prepared earlier from his small bag and placed them next to the unicorn's corpse.
Once everything was ready, Rice stood beside the unicorn's corpse and began chanting a spell over it.
This time he did not use English, but chanted the spell in Latin.
[Starting with Anubis, the ferryman of the underworld, then Hades, the master of the underworld, from Thanatos, the god of death, to Anu, the king of the underworld]
Death, lord of the underworld, god of darkness and death, ruler of the underworld.
[Regardless of your status or authority, I, Salazar Slytherin, demand a soul from you.]
Whether it is guilty or innocent, virtuous or wicked, it should return to the world of the living, and I will give its flesh as your reward.
The blood of the enemy, my own blood, and my own blood are all in place; its revival should be as natural as the rising and setting of the sun.
After chanting a long incantation, the previously drawn triangular magic circle suddenly burst into blue flames.
The flames surged, burning all the magical materials that Rice had prepared to ashes, with the fire reaching its peak where he had placed the three blood globules.
Each of the three flames extended a thin, rope-like flame that coiled around the unicorn's head, heart, and groin, before gradually expanding.
Rice watched expressionlessly as the blue flames completely engulfed the unicorn's corpse.
Surprisingly, although the unicorn's corpse was engulfed in flames, it did not emit any burnt smell, just like a candle burning silently.
About fifteen minutes later, the unicorn's flesh and blood had burned away, leaving only a black skeleton, and the flames gradually shrank to the area around its four hooves.
The next second, a whirlwind suddenly rose from the open ground, sweeping away all the ashes on the ground, and a pure white figure appeared in the forest.
The shadow grew larger and clearer, until finally, a phantom in the shape of a unicorn appeared at the edge of the open space.
It cautiously approached Rice, nuzzled his arm with its head when it reached him, and then turned to look at the skeleton on the ground.
"Welcome back to the world of the living. I hope you get used to your new body," Rice said, pointing to the skeleton.
Without hesitation, the unicorn's shadow raised its front hooves and leaped onto the skeleton, its entire shadow disappearing completely into the skeleton on the ground.
After the phantom and the skeleton merged, two small white flames appeared in the empty eye sockets of the unicorn skull. The flames flickered for a moment, and then the skeleton stood up from the ground, its hooves, glowing with blue flames, stamping a few times. The resurrected unicorn still needed some time to adapt to its new body.
At this point, Rice's necromancy can be considered a success.
Rice patted the unicorn's skeletal head and said to it, "Now that you've been reborn, you naturally need a new name. What do you think of the name 'Nightmare'?"
More accurately, Nightmare is its species name, but judging from the unicorn's appearance, it doesn't seem to object to being called "Nightmare".
After Nightmare adapted to his new body, Rice pulled a crystal ball from his bag. This crystal ball was similar to the ones sold in Muggle gift shops, with a small platform inside decorated with trinkets. Rice's crystal ball was decorated with a small forest.
He pressed the crystal ball onto the nightmare, and the nightmare's body began to gradually shrink. When it became smaller than the crystal ball, it was sucked in and continued to shrink inside the crystal ball until it became half the size of the decorative saplings.
Watching the nightmare wander inside the crystal ball, Rice smiled with satisfaction.
He tidied up the scene a little and then left.
After a while, the two centaurs who had been knocked unconscious by Rice gradually woke up. They rushed to the open space, only to find that the unicorn corpse that had been lying there was gone.
Bain and Ronan's expressions immediately turned grim.
"Damn it, that guy came back! Why didn't I think of that!" Bain stomped his hoof twice in frustration, regretting his carelessness. Bain believed that the demon who killed the unicorn had stolen its corpse. As for its purpose, it was probably for dirty money and to prolong its cursed life.
Ronan looked worriedly at the night sky, sighed, and said, "The dark clouds are about to cover the stars."
Hearing Ronan say this, Bane also looked up at the starry sky, remained silent for a long time, and finally just shook his head.
