Chapter 110 Key Figures
Chapter 110 Key Figures
Inside Louise's villa in Sherman Oaks.
Kelly sprawled on the sofa, picking up a sticky note with two fingers and waving it at Louise: "Master bartender, want some? Honey, Martin really knows how to name things."
Louise took off her business jacket, rolled up her sleeves, and turned to Martin: "What did you say?"
Martin sat at the bar, pulled out two water bottles, tossed one to each of the two men, and said, "Let's fight! I'll record it for you."
Louise caught it, grabbed the kettle head with one hand and the bottom of the kettle where the two eggs were connected with the other, smiled at Martin, and bent it in the middle with force.
The uniquely shaped kettle began to bend, as if it were about to break in half.
Martin felt a chill run down his spine and said, "This is a fight between the two of you. What's the point of dragging me into it? You drunkard, don't try to scare me. With your strength, you really can't break me!"
He gestured for them to start fighting: "Hurry up and start fighting!"
Louise and Kelly exchanged a glance, and the two sluts who were just acting like they were going to die simultaneously turned their water jugs upside down and faced Martin.
Martin stood up and said, "Good, very good, you've learned to target men together."
Kelly got up and stood next to Louise, looking Martin up and down like a female predator about to assault him.
Faced with such a dangerous situation, Martin decisively chose to lie down, jumped onto the spacious bar counter, and lay horizontally on it: "Do you want to come one by one, or all at once? I suggest you all come together."
He held up a finger and shook it: "Because you are no match for them!"
What happened inside the villa became indescribable.
During this time, tempted by new cocktail recipes, Louise Mayer, a master bartender from the International Bartenders Association, came between Martin and Kelly.
A gentle night breeze was blowing. The three of them changed their clothes and went up to the villa's terrace, where they sat under the moonlight, drinking and chatting together.
Martin asked with concern, "Kelly, did you manage to get any business this time?"
Louise was still holding a grudge: "What else can she do besides clinging to you? I'm the one who gets her business."
"You were the one in the middle just now, you slut! It was you!" Kelly retorted. "You're quite agile. Looks like Martin trained you well."
Louise is a shameless slut: "I learned it all from you. Those few times in the middle, I learned a lot from you."
Seeing that the conversation was veerging off course, Martin placed a glass of wine in front of each person and reminded them, "Let's get down to business!"
Louise picked up her glass and took a sip: "Throughout human history, has there been anything more serious than this?"
Kelly was slightly more serious than Louise, and gestured towards Louise with her mouth: "With her help, I negotiated with Warner Bros. for 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,' and the entire filming will be completed at Gray Studios in Atlanta."
Martin asked, "The Tim Burton project?"
"Don't even think about it. I have too much money tied up in 'Alexander the Great,' so I'm not involved in any co-productions," Louise told Martin directly. "Tim Burton will only cast his good buddy Depp. Other roles don't suit you, and there's no need for minor roles. I don't have any co-production projects for the next few months, so you'll have to figure things out yourself during this time."
Martin then heard Alexander ask, "Drunkard, how much did you invest in that film?"
Louise mumbled, "More than twenty million US dollars."
Kelly deliberately teased her: "I really hope this movie fails, so you, you slut, go bankrupt and have to go out and sell yourself."
"Even if we fail, most of the loss will be the cost of the medley," Louise said, a hint of doubt in her voice. "Of course, I won't fare any better..."
She suddenly looked at Martin: "Would you be willing to support a bankrupt old woman then?"
Martin said in a serious tone, "I could support you for two lifetimes without any problem. Whatever I have, you'll have too."
Louise laughed: "You're getting sweeter and sweeter, but I know it's all fake. If I really go bankrupt, I'll become a bartender and sell drinks."
Martin didn't argue, but changed the subject: "Carrie, you're the producer of 'Zombie Dancer,' I have good news for you. My agent has reached an agreement with Lionsgate and has submitted an application for this year's Saturn Award for Best Young Actor. We might get a nomination."
Kelly said, "The film's global rights have been sold, so there's nothing I can do to help you with that."
Louise chimed in, "Just want a nomination? Not an award?"
"Winning an award would be great." Martin listed the films and actors submitted at the same time, saying, "Apart from Lindsay Lohan in 'Freaky Friday,' I've never even heard of the other actors, and their qualifications aren't much better than mine."
Louise picked up her glass, gesturing for the two to drink together: "This matter is both very difficult and very simple. The Academy of Science Fiction and Horror Films is not as unified as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; the two are relatively separate. Right now, the most influential figure in the Academy of Horror Films is Wes Craven. If you can get on Wes Craven's good side, minor awards like Best Young Actor will be easy to obtain."
Martin knew who this was: "The writer, producer, and director of the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream series."
Louise said, "Calling him the godfather of modern Hollywood horror films would be more appropriate."
"How can I win him over?" Martin asked Louise and Kelly directly. "You wouldn't mind if I sold my ass?"
Louise warned fiercely, "I'll cast you into a concrete pillar and throw you into the Pacific Ocean!"
Her tone softened: "Even if you sold yourself, he wouldn't want you. Wes Craven has been famous for so many years, he has money, women, men, and even transvestites. What do you have that could possibly sway him?"
Martin asked, "What's his biggest hobby?"
"He's famous in the party scene for his wild parties," Louise said simply. "He likes to play those kinds of wild, crazy, and exciting party games, but he hasn't done them much in recent years. He's probably been doing them too much and they've lost their novelty."
Martin pondered carefully: "Do you know him?"
"The kind where you nod and say hello when you meet." Louise smiled and extended her hand. "As for anything else..."
Kelly said to Martin, "I warned you before, this slut will drain you dry sooner or later and then kick you to the curb."
Martin wouldn't let her succeed so easily: "Give me some time before I can come up with a new formula."
"Okay, I've put it in the tab." Louise also knew how to play the jackpot: "I'll find out how to get in touch."
Seeing the two of them flirting and making deals right in front of her, Kelly was immediately annoyed: "Martin, you haven't given me any advice in a long time."
Martin thought for a moment and said, "The gay rights movement is really strong in California, and I think it might spread. Georgia won't be spared. When the time is right, Kelly, you can launch a new version that combines gay rights."
"Bisexual?" Louise, radiating a wanton aura after her drink, pulled Kelly close, gave her a passionate kiss, and then her hands climbed up to Martin. Her watery eyes turned to Martin, her long eyebrows raised. "Is this the new version?"
Martin couldn't stand it any longer. He stood up and finished his drink: "I'll show you both what a new version is all about."
The following morning, Kelly, full of energy, went to talk to producer Brad Gray about collaborating on "Charlie and the Chocley Factory".
Martin accompanied Louise to the LA Freedom Association.
Louise is one of the many board members.
The chairperson, Caroline, is a blonde woman in her forties who is capable of influencing the political landscape of Los Angeles.
Louise introduced, "Chairman, this is Martin Davis, the inventor of the kettle. He and Kelly are the real driving force behind the Georgia movement. You asked me to bring him to Los Angeles, and it was a lot of work for me."
Caroline gently shook hands with Martin: "You did a fantastic job in Atlanta. I know Kelly Gray, she doesn't have that kind of ability. You're the real mastermind behind it all, aren't you?"
Since Martin gave the credit to Kelly, it wouldn't change in any situation: "Kelly did the vast majority of the work. I only made a few minor suggestions, but Kelly turned my unreliable ideas into reality."
Caroline invited Martin to sit down: "Planning to stay in Los Angeles long-term?"
Martin said, "I'm an actor, and this is the best place for me to develop my career."
"Atlanta is ultimately a small place," Caroline said with regret. "If the kettle had been launched in Los Angeles, it would have generated several times more buzz."
Louise interjected, "My life, my rules, also comes from Martin."
Caroline gave Martin a long look and formally invited, "Interested in joining us?"
"This is something I've always hoped for," Martin said seriously. "Just like what I did in Atlanta, I'm willing to contribute to this great cause."
Caroline said, "Don't underestimate yourself. You have a certain reputation and prestige in the Freedom Movement across the United States, and everyone who is fighting for this cause recognizes you as an important comrade."
Martin said, "It's my honor."
Caroline then said to Louise, "Take Martin to complete the formalities later, to become a formal social investigator."
She tossed out a carrot: "Martin, if you make a contribution, I'll recommend you for the 8th male member in history at the next committee meeting."
Martin said something polite, then followed Louise to complete the formal incorporation procedures.
Salaries in Los Angeles are generally higher than in Atlanta. Martin, a social investigator, only needs to submit one survey report per month, but he earns $600 a week.
This amount of money is enough for an ordinary person's normal life.
As Martin left headquarters, he thought about the topic they had discussed the night before and said, "Drunkard, if you really go bankrupt, the board member's salary can still guarantee a basic living."
Louise laughed, "Do you think I could still serve as a board member if I were bankrupt?"
Martin's mind immediately clicked: "It's okay, I'll take care of you then."
Louise said, "If the movie really fails, I'll tear Kelly's mouth apart first!"
Upon hearing "broken mouth," Martin thought of someone with an even more broken mouth.
