Chapter 117 The Person Who Focuses on 1
Chapter 117 A Dedicated Person
Standing in the small conference room, Martin glanced at the person sitting behind the conference table. The director had neat short hair and was a very classy middle-aged man.
Andrew's gaze swept across Martin's face and body like radar waves.
Martin seemed to see Patrick, Craven, Zoe, and Michelle from a few days ago.
He was all too familiar with that look; it was the kind of gaze only an old lecher would give.
Andrew then said, "Martin Davis, a new actor." He nodded, and said directly, "I'm having a role discussion at the Hilton Hotel tonight. Can you make it?"
When a pervert bumped into another pervert, Martin said without hesitation, "I have something very important to do tonight, I can't go."
Andrew said, "It's a pity."
Martin said no more and turned to leave the conference room.
Neither side made any demands; one made a condition, and the other directly refused, indicating that it was not a good match and they parted ways.
There are no unspoken rules, because everything is done openly.
Martin went outside, shook his head slightly at Thomas, and walked towards the stairwell.
Thomas caught up and asked in a low voice, "What happened?"
To avoid failure, you must find the reasons for it.
Martin stated directly, "Andrew invited me to his hotel tonight, but I declined."
Thomas, an agent who was deeply manipulated by the company, said, "This is a great opportunity to act alongside Nicolas Cage."
Martin shook his head: "This will completely ruin me and make me lose Louise's support."
Thomas immediately shut his mouth; it wasn't worth losing a long-term meal ticket for a resource that could only be used once.
The two went downstairs, and Martin prepared to leave.
Thomas instructed, "You focus all your efforts on preparing for the Saturn Awards ceremony. Once you win Best Young Actor, we'll start planning new roles."
Martin, who also wanted to practice dancing, said, "Okay."
Go downstairs and come to the lobby on the first floor.
Martin saw the Lively siblings again.
Eric still looked furious.
Blake recognized Martin and greeted him, "Hi, could you wait a minute?"
Martin stopped and asked, "Is something the matter?"
"Can we chat for a bit?" Blake introduced himself, "My name is Blake Lively, and this is my brother Eric. We just met upstairs."
Martin's gaze swept quickly over her. The girl had long blonde hair, a mature-looking face, and wore a simple white T-shirt and blue jeans that accentuated her tall and slender figure.
He also introduced himself: "Martin Davis."
Blake smiled politely: "If I may ask, did you succeed just now? Or..." She explained, "I didn't mean anything by it, it's just that Eric still doesn't understand."
Martin vaguely stated, "The director invited me to the hotel that night to discuss the character, but I declined."
Blake, who comes from a family of actors, understood the meaning of those words after a slight pause and said, "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Martin nodded politely and left the agency.
The moment he stepped out the door, he suddenly remembered what he had forgotten.
I didn't call Robert, and I didn't ask Robert to set out the Coke!
Martin slapped his forehead, silently reminding himself not to forget next time.
In the lobby, Blake had figured out what was going on. Their agent had contacted higher-ups and managed to squeeze them in at the last minute. Andrew saw the people and information and knew who their father was, so he didn't want to cause any trouble.
She found Eric and gave him a brief explanation.
Eric, clearly not as quick-witted as Blake, said, "How about we have Dad call Andrew? Help me get this role."
Blake thought his brother was hopeless: "You should change careers. Even the dumbest left tackle on the Burbank High School football team is smarter than you."
Hearing his sister's disdainful words, Eric felt embarrassed: "I'm the one who brought you into this industry, I'm the one who recommended you to the agency. Without my protection, how could you become an actor?"
Blake covered his forehead: "Think carefully, is it really you?"
Some people grasp things in their teens, while others might need another decade to understand them, Eric said. "Of course, it's me who recommended you."
Blake pointed to Martin's retreating figure as he left: "He's much smarter than you."
…………
A few days later, at Louise's villa, Martin sat on the living room sofa and switched to Warner TV early in the morning.
Kelly nestled in his arms, gently nibbling on a grape.
Martin waited until she swallowed, then put another one into her mouth.
Kelly, munching on a grape, mumbled, "Is it WarnerMedia?"
Martin turned up the TV volume: "The Saturn Awards are being broadcast by WarnerMedia this year, and the nominations will also be announced by WarnerMedia."
Kelly hooked her arm around Martin's neck, tilted her head up, and fed Martin a grape she was biting.
Martin said, "I want to eat the other two."
Kelly strained to lift her body: "How can you eat it if you don't bend down?"
A sharp crack came from the bar area, where Louise, who was pouring herself a drink, angrily shouted, "You two shameless bastards, if you keep messing around here, I'll unleash the dogs on you!"
Kelly said, "She's on her period, just ignore her."
Louise was furious: "You slut, believe me or not, I'll dye your face red!"
Kelly was about to say something when Martin slapped her on the bottom and said, "Stop messing around, we're starting."
WarnerMedia has officially announced the nominees for the Saturn Awards.
There was no luncheon for the nominees, nor a press conference; the announcement was made directly through television news.
This year's list includes a long string of well-known movie titles, such as X-Men 2, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Martin swept past, his eyes fixed on the list of nominees for Best Young Actor.
Kelly pointed at the television screen and shouted, "Your name is on it!"
Martin has already seen it; Martin Davis, from "Zombie Dancer," is clearly listed among the six nominees for Best Young Actor.
Of the other five people, the only name he had ever heard of was Lindsay Lohan.
Martin shoved Kelly up, jumped off the sofa, yelled, and ran towards the bar, exaggerating in his excitement: "Ladies, you're witnessing history! You're witnessing the birth of a Hollywood superstar! When you're old and writing your autobiographies, this experience will earn you an extra million dollars!"
Uncharacteristically, Louise refrained from making sarcastic remarks. Instead, she pulled a bottle of champagne from under the bar and said, "It's worth celebrating!"
Kelly, who had been staying with Louise and Martin lately, had gotten into a habit of partying and asked with dissatisfaction, "Only alcohol? You slut, you're so stingy!"
Martin took the champagne, opened it, and poured it into three wine glasses.
Louise scoffed and said to Kelly, "At least I brought a bottle of champagne. What do you have?"
Kelly walked along, unbuttoning her clothes, then jumped up and sat on the bar counter: "I'm giving everything to celebrate Martin."
Louise picked up a white towel and used it to cover Kelly's mouth: "You slut, this is for Martin to celebrate for you."
Martin skillfully pulled out two newly made water jugs and placed one in front of each person: "Let's get started, make it as intense and fun as possible, consider it a celebration for me."
He felt something was still missing, so he picked up two glasses of champagne and poured them over two kettles: "Now we can use it."
Louise looked at the soaking wet kettle and said, "You bastard, you're a slut too."
"You can't slander people out of thin air!" Martin said seriously. "Have you ever met anyone as devoted as me?"
Even Kelly couldn't hold back anymore: "Is your face made of tank armor?"
Martin countered logically, "I only like women who are pretty and have great figures. Isn't that being faithful enough?"
Two water bottles flew over one after the other, and Martin jumped and leaped away.
He first called his agent to confirm that he would appear as a guest performer and that he could bring his own backup dancers, and then he called Atlanta.
Unfortunately, we've invested too much recently and need someone to share the costs.
Attending an awards ceremony is both an opportunity and a huge expense for a small actor like him who has no sponsors.
…………
Marietta Community Theater, Atlanta.
In the office of Robert, the troupe's principal performance director, there were several cases of bottled and canned cola.
The production dates are all from the time when Ma Zhen's drama was filmed last year.
Robert received another call from Martin. He skillfully took out a bottle of Coke, rubbed it with olive oil, and placed it on his desk facing west.
Compared to before, Robert has one more thing to do.
He murmured to himself, facing the can of cola, "Everything's going well for Martin Davis!"
Jerome came in from outside, surprised: "What are you doing?"
Robert said, "It's nothing, just a small blessing ceremony."
Jerome didn't ask any further questions; faith is a dime a dozen: "Come with me to the House of the Beasts, I need to talk to Martin about something."
The two headed straight to Saijo Street, where they met Vincent, who was wearing a cowboy hat, in the club's office on the second floor.
Jerome stated his purpose directly.
Vincent suddenly stood up and asked, "You mean Martin got a national-level film award nomination for 'Zombie Dancer' and will be performing on stage?"
Jerome said casually, "The Saturn Awards are consistently in the top ten of all American film and television awards. WarnerMedia is responsible for broadcasting the awards ceremony across the United States."
Vincent's mind was a bit of a mess: "Martin sent Anne and the whole group of handsome men to Los Angeles?"
Jerome nodded slightly: "Martin said the club has been a great help to him, and he's preparing to bring his 'Handsome Guys' group to the awards ceremony. When he gives his acceptance speech, he'll specifically mention the Beast House Club and your name."
Sophia, the muscular woman who had been silent all along, chimed in: "That bastard is a smart guy. He should just say what his conditions are."
Jerome stated truthfully, "All expenses incurred in sponsoring his attendance at the awards ceremony, including clothing, makeup, car rentals, and celebration parties, as well as Annie and the group of handsome men's travel expenses and all expenses in Los Angeles, were covered by the club."
Vincent said, "It sounds like he's not doing too well in Los Angeles."
"The actor's initial investment is quite high," Jerome said casually. "He's about to win his first national-level acting award."
Sophia made a quick decision: "These are not problems. Tell Martin that the House of the Beasts wants to express their gratitude separately."
Jerome replied, "No problem."
Art that cannot be monetized is not art.
