Chapter 134 Dancing with Snakes
Chapter 134 Dancing with Snakes
"What? You're done for?" Vogel looked at Martin leaning back in his chair, pointed at him, and said, "Buddy, you lost!"
As he spoke, he let out a burp.
Vogel drank just as much as Martin.
Martin, seemingly intoxicated, stood up and said, "A man can't say no!"
He raised his glass and clinked it against Vogel's, albeit unsteadily: "Cheers!"
Vogel had drunk enough. He downed this glass, suppressing the urge to vomit: "Let's have a drinking contest, no matter which one wins. Let's prove who the real man is in a different way!"
Martin, looking quite drunk, said, "Using women? I'm telling you, you're not good enough."
Those words were too hurtful. A drunken Vogelten stood up, impulsively wanting to hit someone: "Who can't?" He remembered his purpose and restrained himself: "This is Mexico, let's compete the Mexican way!"
A beating wouldn't solve the problem, Vogel raised his voice: "It's our tradition here that a real man dares to face a viper head-on. Let's go challenge the viper!"
Blake stretched out his long leg and kicked Martin under the table, making him refuse.
Martin, still appearing drunk, was perfectly clear-headed and had a pretty good idea of what the guy was up to.
Vogel, swaying slightly as he leaned on the table, said, "What, you're scared?" He suddenly raised his voice, "Hey guys, listen up! Martin and I are going to have a real man's contest, a Mexican-style showdown. Anyone who doesn't dare to compete is a coward and won't be able to pick up girls on set anymore..."
Martin turned and glanced at Bruce.
The two had a tacit understanding; Old Brooks knew that Martin, that stinking piece of shit, wanted to cause trouble, and immediately nodded slightly.
Martin swayed as he stood up and said, "Let's compete! We absolutely have to compete! Where the hell is Viper? I'm going to blow its mouth off!"
Vogel said, "Okay, let's go out and find snakes!"
Martin glanced at Bruce on the phone and tried to stall for time: "Yeah, go find a snake, the most venomous kind. Anyone who doesn't dare to rip open a snake's mouth is a coward!"
Blake was disappointed in her crush, but still came over and pulled him away: "Martin, you're drunk."
"I'm not drunk. Can a drunk person be as sober as me? I can still drink two more bottles!" Martin said, spouting typical drunken ramblings.
Vogel, with his relatively clear mind, secretly rejoiced.
As Martin watched Bruce leave, he shouted, "Guys, go cheer me on!"
He grabbed Vogel's arm: "Let's go!"
Vogel grabbed him too: "Let's go."
Before leaving the banquet hall, Martin took two more bottles of wine.
On the way to the parking lot, he opened the bottle and continued drinking with Vogel.
With the sea breeze blowing, Vogel got tipsy. People who are drunk don't talk nonsense; they just automatically pour the alcohol down their throats.
Martin tossed the bottle into the trash can: "Let's go!"
Vogel remembered what he was supposed to do, and threw away the bottle as well.
Before leaving the hotel, Martin went into the restroom, where Bruce, who was waiting there, exchanged a few quick words with him.
To prevent Martin from quitting halfway through filming, Vogel called the crew's bus. When the driver brought the bus over, he took Martin onto the bus and then invited the other onlookers to get on as well.
Many people were there to watch the spectacle.
As for stopping them? The actors behind them would love for all the actors in front to die.
Blake got into the car and tried to persuade her twice, but when she couldn't, she fell silent.
As the bus drove out of the parking lot, Dalot, who had worked with the crew before, received a call from Bruce and summoned a large group of people who got into several SUVs and followed them.
In the car, Martin was still chatting with Vogel, chatting until the universe exploded.
The bus quickly drove out of the city and into the desert, where everyone got off to help search for the venomous snakes.
Rick, having blended into the crowd, arrived at the target area and shouted, "Here! There's a rattlesnake here!"
Dozens of people rushed over.
Among them were Dalot and his men.
On the flat, gravelly ground, a rattlesnake with yellowish-brown patterns hid among the rocks. Seeing so many two-legged monsters approaching, it trembled helplessly and could only pitifully rattle its tail to warn the monsters not to come closer.
"A real man, go for it!" a young actor shouted from hidden in the crowd.
A jumble of voices rang out: "Go for it! Don't be a coward! Don't let us look down on you!"
Martin and Vogel stopped 20 meters away from the rattlesnake.
Vogel grabbed Martin's arm: "Buddy, your time to prove yourself has come. Go for it, blast Viper!"
Martin glanced at the snake and whispered, "I'm not going."
This completely surprised Vogel: "You're a fucking coward?"
Martin broke free of Vogel's grasp, grabbed his shoulders with both hands, and shook him violently, swaying him back and forth: "I'm not going, I'm fucking terrified of snakes!"
He shook Vogel vigorously, Vogel's head swayed, the alcohol hitting his head, and he felt like vomiting.
But Vogel held back.
How can a real man vomit it out in public?
Martin turned and walked back, and seeing that Vogel hadn't moved, he shouted, "It's a tie, I didn't lose."
As he walked out of the crowd, a Mexican shouted in English, "Martin's a coward, Vogel's a coward too, two cowards without brothers!"
More than a dozen people yelled at Vogel, "Coward, if you can't handle this, come back right now!"
"You don't even dare to do what you suggested? You're a disgrace to men!"
"Useless piece of trash!"
"You're a piece of trash!"
Not only were they shouting, but some people also pulled out cameras and video cameras and started filming Vogel: "Softie, cooperate, and we'll put you on the front page of the local newspaper tomorrow!"
These people constantly provoked Vogel.
Blake was surprised, Martin suddenly changed his mind, and then a bunch of people mocked Vogel.
At first, only about twenty people called them trash.
Soon, driven by herd mentality, the actors in the crew, who were drunk and eager to stir up trouble, also joined in calling them "useless."
The pressure that Vogel had brought in to put pressure on Martin was all placed on Vogel himself.
Martin is shameless; he'll do whatever he wants without a second thought.
Vogel is shameless too, but not to the extent of Martin's shamelessness.
The focus is on the people carrying cameras and video cameras, who are wearing what look like reporter badges.
Vogel put himself in this position, stimulated by the surrounding environment, with alcohol burning fiercely, arming his mind and courage.
He made a choice that shows he's a real man.
Suppressing the urge to vomit from being shaken, Vogel strode towards Rattlesnake: "You bunch of trash, watch out! What does it mean to be a man?!"
His father had worked at a snake farm, and he had caught snakes when he was a child, so he was very confident.
Upon reaching the pile of rubble, Vogel heard the rattling sound of a rattlesnake's tail and his mind suddenly cleared.
"What am I doing? Why am I fighting the Diamondbacks? Isn't this supposed to be for Martin Davis?"
His mind was clear, but he couldn't stop vomiting. Vogel opened his mouth wide, and a waterfall of vomit poured down.
The disgusting liquid fell to the ground and splashed everywhere.
The rattlesnake, trembling with fear, had vomit splattered all over its head and skin.
Such disgusting and insulting behavior, how could a true male snake tolerate it?
The rattlesnake shot out like an arrow and bit Vogel's leg!
Vogel screamed in agony.
The crowd erupted in uproar.
Vogel shook his legs repeatedly, finally regaining consciousness, and yelled, "Help me! Help me! Call a doctor! Get a doctor!"
Many people in the crew were still wondering if they would have had a better chance if they hadn't saved him, or if there would have been one less obstacle to their advancement.
One of the Mexicans that Dalot brought took out his phone and called for an ambulance.
Of course, no one is foolish enough to help Vogel and let him dance with the snake.
…………
Martin walked out at a leisurely pace, but when things got chaotic behind him, he glanced back, put his hands in his pockets, and headed away from the wasteland.
The SUV provided by the film crew was parked on the side of the road. Bruce leaned against the car door and waved at him, like a beautiful woman flirting with customers on the streets of Cabo San Lucas.
In the crowd, Blake looked at Vogel, then at Martin walking away, and suddenly understood something.
She lost interest in watching any longer, and with long strides, she chased after Martin.
Blake is certain, this is the real male god.
Few people noticed that Martin had already left.
Some people even think that Martin, who backed down at the last minute, was a coward.
Blake caught up from behind, grabbed Martin's arm, and asked, "Are you going back?"
Martin reeked of alcohol: "Go back to sleep and sober up."
Blake thought even the smell of alcohol on his crush's breath smelled amazing, and like a sycophant, he said, "I'll go with you."
Martin pointed behind him: "Believe it or not, one of those scumbags will definitely report me, and then I'll be in big, big trouble."
Blake had been a cheerleader since sixth grade, so he'd developed a thick skin long ago: "It's okay, I can wait until you're 18, it'll be soon."
Martin suddenly stopped.
Blake asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Martin deliberately said, "I feel like throwing up."
Blake opened his small shoulder bag, took out tissues and a small bottle of mineral water, and waited beside Martin.
Martin was quite surprised. He asked for her bottled water, took a small sip, and said, "I'm fine now."
Blake handed him a tissue: "Wipe your sweat."
The two approached the car. Bruce gave Martin a questioning look, and Martin nodded slightly. All three of them got into the car.
Blake was full of curiosity, but he didn't ask any questions. He just pondered the whole story.
Her father had said more than once that infighting was everywhere in this circle, and the huge number of people at the bottom and the pitifully few at the top inevitably led to extremely fierce competition.
Back at the hotel, Martin dismissed Blake and took a shower.
When he came out, Bruce was on the phone.
After Old Brooks hung up the phone, Martin asked, "The man isn't dead?"
"No," Bruce said roughly. "Dalot sent someone to the hospital to ask about the idiot's injuries. The rattlesnake injected very little venom, and he was taken to the hospital in time, so he won't be in any danger. But snake venom is troublesome, and he'll inevitably have to lie in bed for a while. If he's unlucky, he might even have to have his limbs amputated."
If Martin were a truly impulsive young man, the consequences would be unimaginable. He said coldly, "He's lucky."
Bruce found it amusing: "I thought he was taking advantage of people's impulsiveness after drinking, preparing to fight you and beat you up, but I didn't expect him to use alcohol to provoke you into messing with snakes."
He added, "This is Mexico, not Los Angeles. In that situation, even if you were bitten, he wouldn't be in much trouble."
Martin said directly, "Old Brooks, get a Black Mamba and throw it in his hospital room."
"Dude, we're in the entertainment industry now!" This time it was Bruce's turn to remind Martin: "We can't use civilized methods!"
