America achieves both fame and fortune
Chapter 220 How can you test someone like this?
Chapter 220 How can you test someone like this?
After entering the suite at the Peach Tree Hotel, Lily secretly found Martin while Elena went to put away her luggage.
"I have something to tell you," she said mysteriously. "I'll help Elena pay off the debt from buying the house."
Martin casually asked, "You? You're still a student, how are you going to pay it back?"
Lily confidently raised her head and said, "Don't look down on me. I made a lot of money selling stars, and I can even work part-time after I get into university."
Elena came out of the room and snapped, "What are you two idiots whispering about? Get your luggage!"
Martin carried two bags and went into the master bedroom of the suite.
Hall moved quickly toward the second largest bedroom. Before he even reached the door, Lily caught up with him, raised her white fist, and slammed it into her brother's head with a thud.
She displayed her tyrannical power as an older sister: "Idiot, behave yourself and go to the smallest room!"
With unreliable parents, the youngest child in the family became the most pitiful. Hall didn't dare to utter a sound and obediently went to the third bedroom.
Lily soon became frustrated as well, because Martin and Elena went into the master bedroom, closed the door, and didn't come out again.
"Shameless!" she muttered as she packed her luggage outside, deliberately making a lot of noise. "She's not even going to eat dinner. Isn't she afraid of getting cramps from exhaustion?"
Nearly an hour later, Martin and Elena emerged from the room. The latter had a flushed face and had changed her clothes; her earlier gloom had largely dissipated.
Lily was very unhappy: "Are you all in such a hurry? I'm starving!"
Martin glanced at his watch: "Come on, I'll take you out for a big meal."
During the meal, the group discussed what kind of house would be suitable to buy.
The median price of a single-family home in a middle-class neighborhood in the Atlanta metropolitan area is around $20. If you include poorer neighborhoods like Clayton, the median price is naturally even lower, and the current property tax is less than one percent.
Martin simply called Robert. Robert's current neighborhood and the surrounding area were quite nice, and he would accompany Elena and the others to look at houses tomorrow.
…………
In a bustling metropolis, there are always many fun places to visit.
Black actors Shelmer and Pratt came out of the bar. They weren't having any luck that day; they didn't pick up any girls, but they did drink a lot of alcohol.
A gust of wind blows, and the effects of the alcohol kick in.
Parat felt hot all over and didn't want to go back just like that: "Shall we go somewhere else? Find a place where you don't mind my weight?"
Shelmer patted his stomach: "It's only been two days since you came out, can't you stand it anymore?"
Pratt, who had become quite familiar with Shermer these past few days, said, "Every day on set, I have to lower myself and fawn over those big shots, just to get an opportunity that may never come. Who understands the frustration and resentment I feel? I'll go crazy if I don't let it all out!"
"We're all pretty much the same." Shelmer is also a minor actor, but the difference is that he has Tyler Perry as a backer: "So, we need the right way to relieve stress."
Pratt said, "Women are the best way, but unfortunately I'm not good-looking and not popular with ladies."
Shelmer felt the time was right and said, "I have a great place, really relaxing, do you want to go?"
Pratt, who had been hanging out with Shelmer at various nightclubs in Atlanta lately, didn't think much of it: "What are we waiting for? Let's get going! I can't sleep alone tonight, or I'll throw up when I go to fawn over Martin tomorrow."
Shelmer pulled him into the car, drove south, and asked, "Didn't you think Martin was great?"
Parat chuckled: "How could he not be good? He's with Julie every day, it's fantastic! If he were willing to promote me and give me a chance to rise to the top, I'd kneel down and sing his praises without a problem. The problem is, I've been sucking up to him for so long, and what have I gotten in return? Nothing."
Sherman smiled outwardly, but inwardly he was disdainful.
What does Pratt do? He risked jail time to work for Tyler Perry in order to climb the ladder.
Without exceptional talent or good fortune, gaining recognition always comes at a high price.
"Director Leterrier is a two-way plug. If I were better looking, Leterrier would have followed in my footsteps long ago." Pratt wouldn't mind selling his ass, but the problem is that fat people have no rights, and even if he wanted to sell, no one would want him.
Shelmer said, "We're all pretty much the same; it's too hard to climb up there."
The car entered the area near the south of the city and stopped in front of an extremely luxurious nightclub, clearly a high-end establishment.
"This place must be expensive," Parat said.
Shelmer got out of the car, and after Pratt got out, he said, "It's okay, my friend drives it, he can get a discount."
Parat couldn't resist the urge and followed him into the nightclub. A young black man in charge came over to greet them and led them to a private room on the second floor.
The young Black man asked, "What do you want?"
Shelmer patted Pratt on the shoulder: "We're all family, don't be shy."
Parat hiccuped: "Hey chick, pretty and sexy chick."
Soon, several beautiful women entered the private room. They all looked quite young. The white woman and the Latina woman had developed earlier, making it difficult to judge their exact age from their appearance.
Shelmer sat on the sofa, one arm around each of them.
The remaining three are all Pratt's favorite types.
After spending so many days together, Shelmer had figured out what Pratt couldn't resist.
The young Black man came in, closed the door to the private room, and nodded to Shelmer: "Wake him up."
Shelmer went over and slapped Pratt's face a few times. Seeing that he was still not awake, he simply grabbed a bottle of beer and poured it over his head.
Parat sat up abruptly, about to explode in anger, when a black hand slapped him across the face with a whooshing sound, knocking him back to the ground.
"My name is Fred, and I'm the security manager here." Fred took a tissue and wiped his hands, which were covered in beer foam.
He picked up a remote control with his left hand, which had lost part of its little and ring fingers: "Chris, I need your help with something."
Just as Pratt was about to get up, he saw Shermer pull out a pistol and point it at him.
He sobered up instantly, and even though his mind was slow, he knew he had fallen into someone else's trap.
Fred didn't waste any words. He pressed the remote control, and the screen in the private room played the scene from earlier. The one-on-three scene looked quite exciting.
Parat confronted Shelmer: "I considered you a friend..."
Fred interrupted him, saying, "They'll only be 16 in the second half of the year. As far as I know, you're over 25 and not protected by the Romeo and Juliet Act. I can have them call the police and charge you anytime."
Parat remained silent.
Fred tossed several of the girl's documents over: "You can choose to go to jail, or do something for me. I won't force you."
Pratt believed that Shelmer would not dare to fire.
But he also knew that if the other party called the police, he would be finished.
Who can save a nobody like him?
Parat asked, "What do you want me to do?"
Fred looked at the severed finger and recalled what happened more than two years ago: "Don't worry, I won't make things difficult for you. I heard you have a good relationship with Martin Davis, so I brought him here for some fun."
"You're all crazy!" Parat exclaimed in surprise. "He's a hero now..."
Fred interrupted him: "If he did the same thing as you, would he still be a hero? Strip away the hero aura, and he's just a minor Hollywood star."
Parat shook his head: "No, I won't do it."
Fred nodded, dialed 911 on his phone, placed it on the coffee table in front of Pratt, and then took out a bag from behind his back, opened it, and placed it next to him.
The bag was full of money, three thick piles of it.
Fred said, "This is a deposit. You'll get double it after it's done. Those three girls will stay with you until you get tired of them."
Parat fell silent. How could you test someone like that!
A few minutes later, Fred went upstairs and met the bespectacled black man in the top-floor office: "Boss, it's done."
Tyler Perry on the other side said, "Great, the simplest is the best. Get the private room ready. I'm going to make sure Martin Davis can't refuse my offer."
…………
The film crew's day of shooting was not yet over, but Martin and Julie had already finished filming their scenes for the day.
The two got into Martin's makeup trailer.
Dedicated actors often find it difficult to detach themselves from their roles, so Martin and Julie extended their passionate scene into the makeup trailer to dissipate any excess emotions.
Only the trailer creaked and groaned in protest.
As filming wrapped up, Julie asked, "Want to come to my place tonight?"
Martin packed his clothes: "I'm going to see Louise and Kelly tonight."
Upon hearing these two names, Julie's backache and leg fatigue vanished, and her extinguished flame reignited: "Would you like to go out onto the balcony tonight?"
Her suite was next to Louise's, and their balconies were also adjacent.
Martin wasn't as twisted as her; he shook his head and said, "They're very careful; they won't agree."
Julie couldn't help but feel disappointed.
Martin said, "Hurry up and get dressed, it's time to go."
After Julie finished dressing, he got out of the makeup trailer and saw a fat man.
Parat approached him and said, "Martin, do you have time tonight?"
Martin asked, "Is something the matter?"
Pratt said with a smile, "You took good care of me on set, and I've been wanting to treat you to a drink. There's a place that has some good drinks."
Martin had already made plans with Louise and Kelly, who were his sugar daddies, and he couldn't break his promise: "I don't have time tonight, let's do it another day."
Parat didn't dare to insist: "Then let's do it another day."
Martin met up with Bruce, got into the same electric car, and asked, "Did we help that guy?"
Bruce shook his head: "No, we haven't given him anything except for him coming to us on his own initiative."
"Let's go back to the hotel." Martin glanced at the time, picked up the thermos next to Bruce, opened it, and took a sip.
In the kettle, he was soaking goji berries he had bought from Chinatown.
It's not that it's impossible, but he needs to take care of himself. After all, he wants to be able to live a life of luxury like Wes Craven when he's in his sixties or seventies.
Two more chapters are coming up, and I'm currently writing them.
