Chapter 285 My Specialty

After leaving the business suite, Martin met Bruce, and the two went downstairs together.

Thomas stopped walking automatically when he saw Old Brooks wave his hand.

After walking a short distance, Bruce whispered, "Ivan is on his way."

"Where is he?" Martin quickened his pace. "I'm going to see him."

Bruce, for reasons of confidentiality and security, said: "There's no need. I'll go find him. If anything happens, it'll just fall on me. If things really escalate, you can still help me out from the outside."

Martin pointed at him: "We're not doing anything illegal, we're just doing what we know best."

"We're all friends of journalists!" Bruce remarked with deep emotion. "How many crucial leads have we provided to the press? How many journalists have we saved from their jobs? We've even made people like Jody rich, yet the Pulitzer Prize never smiles upon us..."

Martin said, "The News of the World is bold and ruthless enough; hopefully they won't disappoint."

Bruce said, "You'll use your enemies too."

Martin stood by the window in the corridor: "There's no such thing as a static enemy. We're friends of journalists." He added, "If things can't be handled properly, we can find another way. Ivan can't be harmed. Keep an eye on him."

"Don't worry." Bruce left.

The events that happened to the crew prompted Martin to make up his mind that even if the News of the World couldn't handle Harvey, he would try to divert his attention elsewhere.

So he had Old Bu shake out a completely unfamiliar face.

With so many beautiful women in the industry, why insist on targeting the "Limitless" crew?

On his way back, Martin suddenly remembered something.

I first met Wes Craven at a fashion party hosted by Harvey Weinstein's fiancée, Georgina Chapman.

I remember Georgina was very beautiful...

Martin slapped his forehead and muttered to himself, "I'm a good guy, not a pervert!"

Martin returned to his suite, where Aniston was already back. She asked, "Did you see Ali?"

"I saw him." Martin cut to the chase: "He said if you come to WMA, you'll be treated like a superstar. WMA doesn't have any superstars right now, so you're WMA's number one client!"

The specifics will have to be discussed between Aniston and Steve, but WMA's top client is showing great sincerity.

Aniston rubbed her forehead. "I'm tired. I should get some rest. We can talk about it tomorrow."

Martin went behind her and gently massaged her: "Whether you stay or leave, don't rush. Think it over before you make a decision."

Aniston grabbed Martin's hand and kissed the back of it. "I feel terrible right now. There's only one thing that can clear my head."

Martin understood: "You want to make another live-action poster?"

Aniston opened her mouth: "Aren't 3D live-action posters fun?"

A thoroughly enjoyable learning and research experience can always make people forget many troubles and return to the original joy.

…………

Brooklyn Bridge Park has been quite cold lately, and there are very few people around after dark.

Ivankhash exhaled a mouthful of white mist.

It's nice to be able to come out and see the sights of New York City instead of having to work as a security guard at the Wild Animal House.

A car was parked on the side of the road, and Bruce rolled down the window and waved.

Ivan strode over, got into the passenger seat, and asked, "Old Bu, why did you suddenly call me over?"

"I need your help with a small favor." Bruce handed over an envelope. "Hollywood is full of scoundrels. I only trust my old buddies in Atlanta."

Ivan opened the envelope and saw it was full of US dollars. He frowned and said, "We're all family here, why are you doing this?"

Bruce said, "I can't let you come all this way for nothing."

Ivan asked, "Do we need to use a gun? I flew here without a weapon..."

"What are you thinking!" Bruce punched him on the shoulder. "I just wanted to find a stranger to pass the message to a newspaper editor."

"It's such a small matter." Ivan put the envelope away and put it in his pocket.

This kind of thing is nothing new to me; I've done it with Martin several times before, so I'm quite familiar with it.

Bruce pulled out another envelope and took out a photograph: "This woman is Rose McGowan, an Italian actress who works in Hollywood..."

Ivan took the call and listened carefully to Bruce's explanation of the details. Harvey Weinstein, whom Bruce mentioned, was also a familiar figure to him.

A big star has emerged from Wild Beasts House, and they all pay close attention to Hollywood and the film industry.

Bruce handed the envelope to Ivan, which contained the names of several actresses besides Ross McGowan.

Martin had been keeping an eye on Harvey for a while, and he had noted down all the related rumors, just in case.

Ivan accepted it, saying, "No problem, I guarantee I'll get it done."

Bruce said, "I'll cover you from behind tomorrow."

Upon hearing this from behind, Ivan quickly moved his buttocks towards the car door, saying, "No, don't cover me from behind, I'm scared!"

Bruce gave him the middle finger: "You fucking man! And a man with such a tiny ass that he practically doesn't have one!"

…………

It was a chilly winter morning in Manhattan. Mokrich, editor-in-chief of the News of the World, drove alone to the office building.

As usual, he didn't go into the company after getting out of the car, but went to the hot dog stand across the street to buy hot dogs and coffee.

Mokrich casually found an empty table and sat down, preparing to enjoy his breakfast, when suddenly a blond-haired man in a suit sat down opposite him.

"Excuse me for bothering you." Ivan opened the envelope in his hand and placed a photo of Rose McGowan and Harvey Weinstein on the table: "I know who you are. I'm providing you with an important news lead."

Mokri had encountered similar situations before, and he remained calm and patient, listening attentively to the other person.

Some important news leads are obtained in this way.

Ivan pointed to the woman in the photo: "This is my girlfriend, Rose McGowan, who starred in Scream and Elvis. Over the past few years, she has been raped by Harvey Weinstein several times, and on two occasions she was forced to back down after reporting to the police and the media."

He looked at Mokrich: "Weinstein threatened her, and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck also warned her. She was afraid her acting career was over, so she didn't dare to call the police anymore and could only cry secretly at night. After I found out, I went to confront that fat guy, and I was also threatened..."

Mokrich looked down at the photo of Harvey Weinstein.

Ivan was furious: "He raped my girlfriend! And without a condom, for crying out loud! I couldn't swallow this, so I secretly investigated and collected a lot of material. Other media outlets didn't dare to report it, but your World News, which claims to be the conscience of the industry, is the only one I can turn to."

Mokrich remained silent, taking the envelope the other person had placed on the table. Inside were several printed sheets of paper with the names of some women, as well as approximate times and hotels listed.

Ivan added, "I don't have the ability to get revenge, and I hope to see you expose that bastard's true colors in the newspapers."

Mokrich put away the envelope and the photos.

Ivan got up and left the hot dog stand, turned at the nearest intersection, and went into an alley.

When they came out again, Brooke waited a short while before pulling up to the side of the road in an ordinary sedan.

Ivan got into the car, a little excited: "Did you see that? How was my acting?"

Bruce, with an air of exceptional professionalism, commented in Martin's tone: "Superficial, too flashy!"

Ivan scratched his head: "Is it really that bad?"

Bruce pulled him to the airport: "Stop nagging, hurry back to Atlanta, your mother is waiting for you to come back for dinner."

"Okay, I'll head to the airport now." Ivan added, "If this happens again, just come to me, and I promise I'll get it done for you."

On the other side, Mokrich acted as if nothing had happened, leisurely finishing a hot dog and a cup of coffee before crossing the street to go to the newspaper office.

There were no urgent matters to attend to today, so he took out the photos and materials from the envelope and began to examine them carefully.

Harvey Weinstein is somewhat famous in New York. He's a top Hollywood producer and bigwig, though not quite a top-tier one, falling far short of the Big Six studios.

Because its parent company is News Corporation, which also owns 20th Century Fox, Mokrich is no stranger to Hollywood power.

In his eyes, this guy was no more than Martin Davis.

Mokrich considered it carefully, then pressed the intercom to call his assistant and handed her the materials: "New target, find a suitable news team and make arrangements."

The assistant understood what he meant; the so-called "arrangement" meant using unconventional methods.

Mokrich didn't take it too seriously. Compared to the British royal family, the Prime Minister's residence, and Washington dignitaries featured in the News of the World, the Weinstein brothers were nothing special.

That morning, a three-person team received the relevant materials and began collecting information about Harvey Weinstein.

They're on the front lines; if there's no news, they have to create it.

Now that the news is right in front of me, I'm naturally not going to let it slip by easily.

But when it comes to people with considerable power, one must either remain silent and patient, or obtain solid evidence and materials to deliver a fatal blow.

Similarly, following, secretly filming, bribing, and wiretapping are all their specialties.

Bruce saw Ivan off, returned to the Brooklyn studio, went into the soundstage, and waited until Martin finished filming his scene before quietly going over.

Martin asked, "All done?"

Bruce said in a low voice, "The other party accepted the items, but we don't know the specifics yet."

Martin said, "The News of the World is very bold. People at Harvey's level are not within their scope of concern. Normally, they would investigate quietly, first obtain some information, and then either expose it or make Harvey pay money."

"I've studied their style." Bruce's employer was so adept at creating drama that he had to keep up: "The chances of them getting more exposure are much higher."

Martin thought further: "Whether it's Harvey or the News, who's keeping an eye on us, we'll find someone to leak the information to that fat guy and let him fight the News like dogs."

Bruce said, "You're a really good person. Harvey should thank you in advance."
