Chapter 314 A Good Person Among the Bad Guys

Chapter 314 A Good Person Among the Bad Guys

At Los Angeles International Airport, shortly after her flight from Atlanta landed, Lily dragged her suitcase to the terminal exit.

Despite wearing nothing more than ordinary jeans and a sports t-shirt, the young and pretty brown-haired girl still attracted a lot of attention from those around her.

A handsome guy with a bag slung across his shoulder immediately approached: "Hey, beautiful, visiting Los Angeles?"

Lily glanced at him but ignored him.

The handsome guy flashed his brightest smile: "Taxi rides are hard to get in Los Angeles and expensive, how about we share a ride?"

Thomas wanted to go over when he was only five or six meters away.

Louise reached out to stop him: "No rush, let's see how things go. My bodyguards are over there, nothing will happen."

Thomas took a few more steps forward.

Facing the handsome man, Lily smiled and said, "No need, my brother is an agent with the Los Angeles Police Department. He just called me and will be here soon."

"Really?" The handsome guy automatically stepped back. "I'll go find someone to share a ride with."

Lily's parents were not ordinary people; they had seen a lot from a young age and had a good understanding of the wickedness of human nature.

She pursed her lips, glanced at the cult leader on the Coca-Cola GG sign on the side of the terminal, and thought to herself, "That ugly freak has the nerve to come over and chat me up."

Thomas rushed over: "Hi, Lily."

When the "Wanted" crew was filming in Atlanta, Lily met Thomas and said, "Thank you for picking me up."

Then, she saw a woman walking up behind Thomas. She looked to be around thirty years old, beautiful, sexy, shrewd, and capable.

Louise Mayer.

"Lily Carter".

The two introduced themselves and, at Thomas's invitation, got into a minivan together.

Louise gestured for the driver to start the car and asked, "Would you like to stay with Martin first, or go to the school?"

Lily tried to sound mature: "Could you please take me to school?"

The driver went directly to Valencia, a satellite city where the California Institute of the Arts is located.

Louise said, "Martin and I are good friends and business partners. He was filming in London and couldn't come back, so he specifically asked me to pick you up."

"Thank you." Lily opened her backpack, took out a small gift box, and handed it to Louise. "Thank you so much for your help. This is a handmade item I made myself. Please don't mind the taste..."

Lily didn't know Louise, but Louise knew Lily to some extent, and knew without guessing what was in the box.

But since the other party sincerely expressed her gratitude and was a beautiful and lovely young girl, Louise couldn't refuse and accepted the gift, saying, "You're welcome."

Lily took out another one and handed it to Thomas: "This one is for you."

"Thank you." Thomas then quietly opened the gift box and took a look while Lily placed the other one on the passenger side of the driver's seat.

Sure enough, inside were hand-carved, very cute and adorable clown figurines.

Thomas wanted to tell Lily that she didn't need to give it to him, as she already had several similar items, including the saltwater crocodile pendant that Lily hadn't given him.

Louise opened it open with an open mind, sighing inwardly. She realized she would need to buy a cabinet specifically to display Lily Carter's hand-carved sculptures.

Lily was unaware that her practice carvings were becoming increasingly common in Hollywood. When she arrived at the California Institute of the Arts, she gave one each to Louise's assistant, Nikki, and Thomas's assistant, Natasha.

Natasha and Nikki exchanged bewildered glances. Why did these siblings both like to give carvings as gifts?

The bison in Australia are really suffering.

Louise accompanied Lily to the academy, where they first met Vice Dean Diana and her future mentor, then completed various enrollment procedures, and applied for a single apartment.

The journey was very smooth, without any problems.

After putting her luggage in the apartment, Lily didn't forget Louise, who had come all the way to help: "I'll treat you to dinner later."

"No need." Louise took out a business card and handed it to Lily. "Martin isn't in Los Angeles. You can call Thomas or me if you need anything."

Lily accepted the address, which was in Sherman Oaks. If she remembered correctly, Martin also lived in Sherman Oaks.

Louise extended the invitation: "You're welcome to visit me sometime."

"Thank you." Lily couldn't say it, but she had a feeling that Louise was strange.

After seeing Louise off, she immediately called Martin and emphasized Louise's situation.

Martin, on the other end, said, "You can talk to her if you need anything, but don't bother with her otherwise."

Lily said, "I've settled in. I gave a small gift to Louise and Thomas, who brought me here, their entourage, and the senior students and teachers who greeted me at school."

In the London photo studio, Martin had a very bad feeling and asked, "What gift did you send?"

"A bull horn carving," Lily said, "a clown figurine modeled after you."

"Did you give them to a lot of people?" Martin asked.

Lily confirmed: "It was given to many people."

Martin slapped his forehead and said, "Alright, let's talk again when I get back to Los Angeles."

Bruce wanted to laugh after hanging up the phone, but he held it back.

Martin glanced at him and said, "Laugh if you want." He scoffed, "Sooner or later, we'll make Australian bison and saltwater crocodiles rare animals."

Bruce asked, "Will you continue delivering?"

Martin made a fierce decision: "I'm going to send them all over Hollywood!"

Bruce, that scoundrel, deliberately said, "Will everyone in Los Angeles have one in the future?"

Martin asked, "How many did you bring this time?"

Before coming to London, Bruce specifically handed over a large piece of luggage to the film crew for them to check in.

Bruce said, "Giving one to each member of the crew is enough."

Martin nodded: "The filming is almost over. Get ready, I'm going to give out a big gift giveaway."

Filming for "The Reader" is nearing its end, and actors are leaving the production one after another. In addition to souvenirs from the crew, each departing actor receives a gift from the lead actors, Martin and Kate.

Kate gave him English black tea.

Martin gave her a tusk pendant with a bull horn carving.

Three days later, the crew completed filming all their scenes.

Sam Mendes has announced his retirement from filming.

Before Martin could react, Kate picked up a latte art and sprayed it all over his head and face.

Felicity Jones also grabbed one to join in the fun.

Martin fled in a disheveled state, caught the latte art that Old Brooks threw to him, and sprayed it all over Kate's face with a bang.

Kate threw away the latte art, rushed over and hugged Martin tightly, pressing her whole body against him, appearing extremely excited.

Martin hugged her back: "Kate, you're a true artist, that was fantastic!"

Kate released Martin and cupped his face in her hands: "I can't do this without you. You're a great actor who can really bring people to their feet. You're a genius."

They both laughed at the same time.

An assistant producer from the film crew entered the studio and presented a souvenir.

Martin and Kate received the two books that Michelle had read to Hannah.

Although the production team will not disband, most of the people will not participate in post-production.

Martin handed the book to Bruce, then shook hands with everyone, carrying the gift, and came to Sam Mendes.

He originally wanted to shake hands with Sam.

Sam hugged him and patted him on the back, saying, "You did a great job on this film. Keep it up. I have high hopes for you."

Martin nodded vigorously: "Sam, you are a true artist. You gave me crucial guidance and advice during a difficult time, which will benefit me for the rest of my life."

In terms of professionalism, he is far inferior to Kate and her husband.

There's really no comparison.

Martin then left the studio, and as he was removing his makeup, Bruce suddenly got off the trailer.

"No! Don't do that, I'm here to see Martin."

Bruce brought Saoirse Ronan in from outside. She raised her hand and said to Martin, "I heard that your crew finished filming today, so I came here specifically to find you."

Martin, having just changed his clothes, asked, "Did you need something?"

Saoirse glanced at the makeup artist but said nothing.

Martin picked up his bag, thanked the makeup artist, exchanged a few words, and got off the makeup cart first. Saoirse followed, and Martin asked, "You don't want more firecrackers, do you?"

Saoirse giggled. "I still have some left." She added smugly, "Hermione's as proud as a peacock, looking down on everyone. She's bullied me several times, and this time she's really embarrassed herself."

Martin had read the Sun's report and, unsure whether it was a PR tactic or genuine, Emma Watson went to see a psychologist.

But Saoirse was concerned: "I wish her a speedy recovery from depression."

Martin thought to himself, "Maybe she'll take the initiative with Yu Yu in the future."

"Many people say I have great talent and suggest I go to Los Angeles to develop my career. My mother is planning to take me there in two years." Saoirse has worked on more than one film crew and is not naive at all.

She asked, "Martin, can I come to see you then?"

For some things, Martin only needs to say: "Sure, I'll introduce you to a talent agency later."

"Leonardo is a bastard, you're a good man." Saoirse held out a hand to Martin.

Martin took out a business card and handed it to her.

Saoirse accepted it: "Thank you."

She smiled at Martin and gave a ladylike bow: "I'm going back now."

Martin waved to her.

Saoirse ran away.

Bruce came up from behind.

Martin asked, "I'm a good person, aren't I?"

Bruce said something very true: "Among rotten people, you're one of the good ones."

Seeing that he had already packed his things, Martin said, "Let's go back to the hotel to get our luggage. We're heading back to Los Angeles."

The post-production department will remain at Pinewood Studios to continue post-production. Since there are almost no outdoor scenes, Martin asked Sam if he would need to do post-production dubbing for any of the shots.

His work had already come to an end before the film's official promotion began.

Back at the hotel, after unpacking, Kate suddenly appeared.

Bruce left the room voluntarily.

Kate asked, "What time is the flight?"

Martin glanced at the clock: "It's not too late to leave in three more hours."

Kate pulled the script out of her bag and said, "There's a scene I need to dub, and I want to familiarize myself with it again. Let's hurry before you leave."

How could a good man like Martin refuse to enjoy the pleasure of helping others?

Martin gained a lot from the two months of filming in London and his experience as The Reader, and he also learned how a good actor can become a true artist.
