America achieves both fame and fortune
Chapter 329 Seeking Justice
Chapter 329 Seeking Justice
"Multiple newspapers said that yesterday's Helen Show showed a real you."
In her villa in the Coty neighborhood, Aniston flipped through the newspaper and said to Martin, "The mainstream media still speaks very highly of you; the tide hasn't turned."
Martin picked up his milk and took a sip: "Emergency public relations efforts before a crisis breaks out always have some effect."
He said another reality: "Qualifications can only be replaced by the American Dream of hard work; there's no other way."
Aniston, who entered the industry earlier, said, "The Oscars also have a nickname: the consolation prize for middle-aged and elderly people. With the four acting awards plus Best Director, it's considered a victory for young people to get a nomination and be a runner-up."
Martin said, "It's because most of the judges are old people."
"On the Helen Show, you said you'd mediate between me and that bitch Julie?" Aniston stared at Martin and asked, "Really?"
Martin replied without hesitation, "Since Helen raised this question, I have to give her an answer."
Aniston said, "That bitch has turned herself into a saint!"
Martin said, "Celebrities just create a persona."
Aniston understood what he meant: "Like my former American sweetheart?"
"More or less." Martin tentatively asked, "What are your thoughts on this?"
Aniston considered for a moment and said, "Unless she apologizes to me publicly first, we'll talk about the rest after she apologizes."
Because Martin had interfered, most of Aniston's hatred fell on Pitt.
As for Julie, after she won Martin over, she didn't hate him as much anymore.
"You said last night you found out who was behind the smear campaign against you?" Aniston asked with great concern, "Who is it?"
Martin said directly, "It's probably Pete." He briefly explained, "The author of Never Ending, Alan Grylls, works for Imperial Magazine. I had him inquire about it, and Richard Close, who wrote that article for Imperial, met with Pete the day before it was published."
It's not like we're dealing with the LAPD; we don't need evidence for this kind of thing.
Aniston paused for a moment, then said, "I'm sorry that my situation has affected you."
She snatched the puppy away, so Aniston believes she was the proactive one in the relationship.
"It's okay." Martin took her hand. "I'm just aiming for an Oscar nomination. I didn't expect it to have such a big impact. Yesterday's interview and talk show were all planned, just a little earlier than expected."
Aniston said, "That Pete guy is so despicable, he's shameless enough to smear you like this."
Even if Martin could tolerate it, she couldn't: "Aren't you going to find a way to fight back?"
Martin spread his hands: "I can't think of a solution for now. Pete didn't provoke me to my face. I can't just do what I did at Avalon Bar last time, pinning Pete down on the table and scaring him with a Coke bottle."
Aniston abruptly changed the subject: "What did Julie say?"
Martin didn't hide the fact that he had been in contact with Julie: "Her? She only comes up with bad ideas. She wants me to take you and her to Pete and say that Pete has a deep-seated bipolar disorder and that he beat up his former nanny. She says that if we just provoke Pete, he will go crazy."
Aniston, who divorced Pitt just over a year ago, said: "Your words remind me of something from before..."
She glanced at Martin, and seeing that he showed no signs of distress, continued, "Initially, two nannies told me that Pete had made inappropriate advances towards them. After they refused, Pete not only threatened them but also physically assaulted them. However, they left afterward, and I didn't pay much attention to it."
Based on Julie's words, Martin can basically make a judgment.
Aniston sighed, "I was so stupid back then. I only had love in my eyes and ignored so many important things."
Martin said, "Jane, it's not your fault, you're just too kind."
Since there is kindness, there must also be wickedness. Aniston naturally pinned the blame on Pitt: "It was only after the divorce that I realized that Pitt, like CAA, changed after Friends ended. He didn't marry me; he married America's sweetheart. And it was during the years he was with me that he became a superstar."
At this point, Aniston pulled out a pen, paper, and address book, and began to flip through them carefully: "I remember the names and contact information of those nannies. This all started because of me, and it's not over yet."
Martin was equally resolute: "I will get justice for us."
Aniston found it, quickly wrote it on a sticky note, kissed Martin, and shoved it into his hand: "Make him look utterly humiliated!"
Martin nodded. "As you wish, my lady."
Aniston looked reminiscing: "Looking back now, I realize that Pete seemed to treat the nanny a little differently."
"I understand." Martin didn't linger there and left shortly after finishing breakfast.
After getting into the car Bruce had driven, Martin thought for a moment and asked, "Old Bruce, the Foot Clan has changed their location, right?"
Bruce turned onto the main road and said, "At the Butch Strip Club."
"A quiet bar called Palm Springs, near the club?" Martin was referring to, the very bar where Pete met with the people from Empire Magazine.
Bruce had been there: "On the same street."
Martin guessed, "Maybe the Foot Clan was having a party that night."
Bruce understood what he meant: "Not just Pete?"
Martin took out his phone, found Georgina Chapman's number, and made a call.
The call connected quickly, and the person tentatively asked, "Martin?"
"It's me, hello Georgina." Martin had chatted with Georgina during the Toronto Film Festival, and continued their conversation: "Last time we met, you mentioned you were going to Los Angeles to host a fashion party?"
Georgina said, "It'll be after the New Year, with all those award ceremonies during awards season. Are you really going to attend?"
Martin said, "Once the time is set, don't forget to send me an invitation. I'll definitely be there to support you."
Georgina smiled and said, "Could you bring Aniston along?"
Martin wouldn't make decisions for others: "I need to ask her opinion."
Georgina said, "Please wait patiently for my invitation."
Martin said something politely again and then hung up the phone.
Bruce quickly turned to look at Martin, then turned back to look at him again.
Martin warned, "Concentrate on driving, Brooks! Do you want us both to crash?"
"Dude, you're ruthless!" Bruce exclaimed in admiration. "You're driving Harvey crazy!"
Martin was surprised: "Isn't it normal for people in the industry to attend high-end fashion parties? Old Brooks, you have a problem with your thinking."
Bruce didn't want to talk to this jerk.
Martin, however, wouldn't let him off the hook. He handed Bruce a note: "These people used to be Jane and Pete's housekeepers before they divorced. They might have had issues with Pete. Investigate them."
"I understand," Bruce said specifically. "It's not appropriate for us to get involved in this kind of thing, and we shouldn't even have any contact with them."
Martin nodded: "Call Atlanta and call them. Get Ivan over here."
Bruce said, "I'll call him later."
After dropping Martin off at the studio, Bruce went out and found a public phone booth to call Atlanta.
In Atlanta, as soon as Ivan received the notification, he packed his bags without saying a word, briefly told Sofia, booked his plane ticket, and rushed to Los Angeles.
…………
In her Beverly Hills mansion, Georgina stood in the fountain plaza, waving at a Rolls-Royce.
The rear window of the Rolls-Royce rolled down, revealing Harvey Weinstein's chubby face. He laughed and called out, "Honey, don't worry, I'll definitely be back before the Oscars."
This year at the Oscars, The Weinstein Company doesn't have a suitable film to contend with. Harvey plans to travel all over Europe, Asia, and Australia to find a suitable film to prepare for next year's Oscars.
Georgina said reluctantly, "Harvey, remember to call me often."
As the Rolls-Royce drove further and further away, Harvey rolled up the window and looked back once more at his wife, who was more than 20 years younger than him, feeling an overwhelming sense of happiness.
But he would never give up the entire entertainment industry for one person.
With his reputation, he'll definitely have no shortage of actresses sent by production companies or coming to him on his own initiative when he goes out this time.
After experiencing countless trials and tribulations, Harvey returned to appreciate his wife's kindness.
On the fountain square, Georgina's smile vanished the moment she saw the car leave the gate. She swayed her tall figure and walked towards the main entrance of the villa.
She sighed softly, "Finally, I can relax a bit. I don't have to face that fat old face all day anymore."
The assistant followed: "Boss?"
Georgina kicked off her high heels and slumped onto the sofa: "What's up?"
The assistant placed the phone next to her: "Ms. Winslet just called."
Georgina sat up and dialed back: "Hi, Kate, you're in Los Angeles? Great, let's find somewhere to chat this afternoon."
Kate asked, "Don't you need to stay with Harvey?"
"He's gone to Europe, I can finally relax a bit." Georgina lowered her voice slightly as she saw her assistant was some distance away. "I've sacrificed so much for my career, it's been so hard. If you don't come out and talk to me for a while, I'll get depressed."
…………
The Rolls-Royce drove towards Los Angeles Airport. The traffic was heavy, and the driver was focused on driving, so he didn't notice that three completely different cars were following him to the international airport.
The three members of the World News Report arrived one after another, pretending to be passengers checking in, and entered the terminal building.
Lukaku, magazine tucked between his fingers, stood beside a pillar, watching as his target, Xavi, entered the international flight security checkpoint.
After the man disappeared, Hazard came over with his hands in his pockets and said, "I was paying special attention at the check-in counter. This guy is going to Europe, I think it's France."
Courtois sauntered over, somewhat irritated: "We finally managed to set up a phone tapping service in the hotel room, and then he went to Europe."
Lukaku remained the most composed: "Don't rush, he'll go to Europe, we'll go and meet those women."
