Chapter 395 Learning from Strengths and Making Up for Weaknesses
Chapter 395 Learning from Strengths and Making Up for Weaknesses
The red Porsche circled Beverly Hills once before plunging into the underground parking garage of the Four Seasons Hotel. Elizabeth had just parked the car when she unbuckled her seatbelt and pounced on Martin.
The Scarlet Witch's sweetly smiling face was right in front of me.
The pulsating energy of the earth's veins pushed up the volcano, which then struck Martin's arm.
What normal man could withstand the temptation of an eighteen-year-old beauty?
Martin cupped Elizabeth's face in his hands and kissed her.
Elizabeth got up and moved over to sit in the passenger seat.
The Porsche's cramped space felt oppressive, with everyone pressed tightly together.
Martin unconsciously straightened up, and Elizabeth's head slammed against the roof of the car with a thud.
"It's too cramped here, we can't move around freely." Both of them were quite large, and Martin was also worried that someone might take pictures of them. "Get out of the car, get out of the car."
Elizabeth rubbed her head and went to open the passenger door: "Why don't we go to your house?"
She preferred to go straight into Martin's house, getting there in one go, simple and convenient.
Martin said frankly, "Those two bastards, Leonardo and Nicholson, are too much trouble. I'm worried they might launch another surprise attack."
Elizabeth thought of the last time: "I need to stay away from them."
As she spoke, she forced herself to sit down on Martin's lap.
Martin's eyes widened: "Slow down, slow down, it'll break..."
Elizabeth smiled sweetly: "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I'll apologize to him personally and comfort him properly later."
Martin said, "You've raised my expectations too high."
Elizabeth glanced at her: "You...you've definitely grown taller." She had done a lot of preparation: "I've watched a lot of Saint Eugene films in the last six months."
The two got out of the car and took the elevator upstairs. Halfway up, Bruce came over and gave Martin a room key.
Upon arriving at the luxury suite on the top floor, Martin closed the door and tossed his coat aside.
No words can compare to actions.
Elizabeth apologized sincerely and comforted him gently for his rashness when getting out of the car.
Martin bowed his head in a gesture of forgiveness.
Elizabeth's eighteenth birthday celebration, after being postponed for six months, was finally completed successfully.
The two did not leave the hotel that day.
Martin would never mistreat a girl like Elizabeth who tried so hard to comfort the wounded.
Last time, the coming-of-age ceremony was forced to end before it even began because of the meddling of his two friends, Nicholson and Leonardo.
Martin decided to make it up to her, mainly by learning from her strengths and compensating for her weaknesses.
Elizabeth should delay as long as possible; the longer she delays, the more compensation she will receive.
That evening, Martin ordered a late-night snack, and the two sat on the balcony, enjoying the food and the beautiful view of Los Angeles.
A night breeze blew by, causing Elizabeth's long hair and dress to flutter in the wind. Her gentle eyes and bright, sweet smile were soothing.
If he had to find a word to describe her, Martin thinks "sweetheart" would be the most fitting.
The sweetheart noticed Martin staring at her intently, and smiled even more sweetly. When Martin snapped out of his reverie, she deliberately asked, "Do you know which role I just got?"
Martin knew, of course: "Caroline, Daisy and Benjamin's daughter."
Elizabeth forked a piece of cake and took a small bite, the snow-white cream sticking to her lips: "Martin, when we're rehearsing and filming, I'll have to call you Daddy."
Martin's heart skipped a beat, as if a thread had snapped. He coughed softly and said, "Your acting still has a lot of room for improvement."
"Can you give me some pointers now?" Elizabeth asked, getting into character: "Daddy..."
Martin, however, was still off-screen saying, "Liz, when you call me that, I feel like I've become an old boy."
Elizabeth forked another piece of cake, took a bite of cream, and said Caroline's lines: "Daddy, don't you love me anymore? Why are you being so rude to me?"
Martin said, "Every old boy has a beloved daughter."
Elizabeth improvised: "Talking is cheap; you have to prove it with actions!"
Martin stood up, pulled his sweetheart up again, and kissed her once more.
Elizabeth is sweet.
……
Early morning, at the Olsen family mansion.
The Olsen sisters entered the garden and walked along the flower-lined path. The autumn dew dampened the grass and the path, making it particularly slippery and tempting one to quicken one's pace without realizing it.
Mary stopped at a protrusion on the path and stomped heavily a few times. The loose stone slabs creaked and groaned, but perhaps because they were wet with dew, the sound was not harsh at all; rather, it was quite pleasant.
Ashley went to a cardamom vine, gently flicked the dew off the pods, peeled open the pods, grabbed the red cardamom pods, twirled them gently, picked them, and played with them between her fingertips: "Liz didn't come back last night."
Mary walked forward and said, "I texted her; she was with Martin last night."
Ashley pointed to the next room: "That Martin Davis?"
"It's him," Mary said. "The one with the most scandals, a playboy like Leonardo DiCaprio and Nicholson."
Ashley, however, tossed aside her girlish charm and said, "How many Hollywood male stars aren't playboys? Playboys are at least more reassuring; at least they're not troublemakers." She and Mary had been in the entertainment industry since infancy, practically growing up in it: "If Liz wants to develop her career in Hollywood, she'll have to go through a lot of scumbags. It's not a bad thing to start early."
Mary stopped: "Remember to remind her to take safety precautions later."
As the sun rose higher and the weather grew hotter, the dew on the garden path evaporated and dried out, so the Olsen sisters went back to work, working in their home study.
Around mid-morning, a red Porsche drove in and parked in the outdoor parking lot on one side of the square.
Elizabeth got out of the car cheerfully, her steps unsteady, her sweet smile pure enough to heal the immense psychological trauma of Bell or Pitt.
Elizabeth smiled even more sweetly as she thought about how excited Martin, the old boy, would get every time he called out "Daddy" during rehearsals.
"Liz, come and sit down," Ashley called to her sister. "So happy?"
Elizabeth, sitting beside her sister, said with a smile, "I've got a boyfriend!"
Mary came in from the study: "Martin?"
"Yes, Martin," Elizabeth exuded the cloying sweetness of love. "He's my boyfriend now."
Mary nodded: "You've grown up. I won't say much else, but I'll just remind you to be careful."
"I will," Elizabeth said seriously, her smile fading. "If anything unexpected happens, I'll marry Martin."
Ashley shook his head: "You're thinking too far ahead."
Elizabeth has her own perspective on this: "I think people who love each other should get married."
Mary and Ashley didn't take it seriously, just smiled and went back to their study to continue working.
Elizabeth didn't force her family's approval. Leaning back on the sofa, she took out her phone and sent a text message: "I'll come over to see you tonight."
Meanwhile, at Paramount Studios, Martin, sitting on a scooter, replied: "My friends invited me to dinner tonight, why don't you come along?"
Elizabeth asked, "Leonardo and Nicholson?"
"It's them." The two bastards called Martin this morning: "They'll be bringing their own female companions."
Elizabeth agreed.
Martin put away his phone, waited for Bruce to stop the car, jumped out, and went into Benjamin Studio to continue his special effects modeling work.
Upon arriving at the special effects studio, we could see Cate Blanchett talking to Eric from afar.
The former came over to create a model for the elderly Daisy.
Martin strode over, greeted Eric, and asked, "When does it start?"
Eric said, "Wait a moment, there's a minor software conflict. It's not a big problem; my people are handling it urgently, and it'll be fine soon."
Eric was called from the studio, so he apologized to Martin and Blanchett and hurried over.
Martin was already in work mode, his mind filled with the character, completely ignoring Blanchett and preparing to walk past her to his dressing room.
Blanchett, unable to suppress her disgust, coldly reminded her, "Please keep your distance from me."
Martin glanced at her, too lazy to reply, and went into the lounge.
After closing the door, he took out his phone and dialed Nicholson's number: "Going to Leo's party tonight, did you find a date? I can introduce you to one. Come to Paramount Studios, Blanchett's here, don't you want to have some fun?"
Nicholson said, "I rushed over before I left work."
He immediately took action, ordering roses and asking Leonardo DiCaprio to cheer him on.
If people don't actively seek out fun, why would fun come looking for them?
Martin waited for more than ten minutes, and soon someone came to inform him that he had gone to the special effects studio. Surrounded by multiple camera lenses, he walked unsteadily like an eighty-year-old man with weak legs.
In the afternoon, an assistant pushed an old-fashioned wheelchair over. Martin sat in the wheelchair, his body hunched over, as if he were old and frail.
Near the end of his workday, he received a text message from Nicholson.
Martin came out of the studio a step earlier and saw the impressive scene outside the studio. He deliberately went around them and went to the area diagonally opposite where the battery-powered cars were parked. He stood on a high place and waited patiently.
Bruce walked up to him and asked, "What are you planning now?"
Martin gestured with his eyes: "They're here; you'll see them soon."
Blanchett, carrying a bag and accompanied by her assistant, came out of the studio. When she looked up, she saw a lot of people. The old man in the middle had sunglasses on his face and looked like a British gentleman.
"Begin!" With Leonardo's command, the others sprang into action.
The red carpet rolled out and landed right below the studio steps. Two beautiful emcees walked briskly by carrying flower baskets, and red rose petals fell from their fingers onto the carpet.
With two crisp thuds, the ribbons flew up and landed on the red carpet.
Everyone, both inside and outside the studio, was stunned.
Nicholson stepped forward from the crowd, holding 99 bright red roses, and walked towards Blanchett.
Behind him, Leonardo waved his hand, and the two unfurled a banner with the words "Blancette, my love!"
When it comes to shamelessness, Nicholson is Martin's boss.
