Chapter 423 The Thief Prince
Chapter 423 The Thief Prince
This art party is located across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and is one of the many prelude events for METGALA in early May.
Martin specifically invited Menez to come along.
Daniel has already helped secure another ticket to the METGALA.
Arriving on Fifth Avenue and entering the lobby of the private club where the party was being held, Martin met Alexandra.
She wore a form-fitting, bright red one-shoulder evening gown, giving off a heavy, weighty feel.
Next to Alexandra was a slightly younger girl who looked, was taller, and had similar hair color to Alexandra, but the size of her chest made it easy to tell who was the older sister and who was the younger sister.
The younger sister is at least two sizes smaller than the older sister.
Alexandra introduced Martin, "This is my sister, Catherine. She also loves performing and came to join in the fun."
Catherine, very lively, jumped over and grabbed Martin's arm: "How about we take a picture together?"
Martin nodded: "No problem."
Catherine handed her phone to Alexandra and instructed, "Take a nice picture of me and a handsome picture of Martin. Don't make them look ten years older like you do when you take pictures of Mom and Dad."
Alexandra shrugged. "There's nothing I can do about it. That's just my skill level."
Menezes came over and asked, "Should I give it a try?"
With the skill he honed by photographing numerous women in their forties and fifties, he can make them look several years younger.
Alexandra handed the phone to Menez, who squatted down and shot from below, easily creating the effect of long legs.
After taking a few pictures, Menez returned the camera to Catherine, who beamed with delight: "You took great pictures."
Menez said with a smile, "You get used to it by taking lots of pictures."
Catherine's attention quickly returned to Martin: "Can I show off our photos at school? A lot of bitches on the Upper East Side are always showing off how well they know some celebrity. This time I'm going to show them who the queen is."
Martin politely replied, "The photos belong to you; you can show them to anyone."
Alexandra gestured to the group, "Let's go inside."
The party was filled with an artistic atmosphere, featuring modern art pieces such as sculptures, abstract paintings, handicrafts, and fashion designs. Many people held drinks and chatted about sophisticated topics while surrounded by different artworks.
The Alexandra sisters were too young, and Mene felt they had nothing in common. She also wanted to give Martin some personal space, so she made up an excuse to leave them and mingled into the art circle of older women.
Martin chatted with the Daddario sisters as he led them into the clothing design and art section that interested them.
Unexpectedly, I ran into an acquaintance.
Angela Lindvor approached Martin to say hello when she saw him.
Martin also introduced her to the Daddario sisters.
Angela had attended two supermodel pre-wedding parties and knew Martin's strengths and weaknesses, so she asked directly, "Is this your new girlfriend?"
Martin wasn't embarrassed and said, "Alexandra is a friend of mine in New York." He didn't want to dwell on the matter and instead asked, "Aren't you usually with KK? Why haven't I seen him?"
"You didn't know?" Angela asked, then, remembering that the news about KK hadn't spread yet, she said, "KK is sick, she has health problems, Victoria's Secret terminated her contract, and she's been severely affected. If you have time, you'd better go visit her."
Martin asked, "What illness?"
Angela sighed and said, "It's related to her thyroid. Apparently, it's a problem with her endocrine system, which has caused her to gain a lot of weight."
She and KK have a sisterly bond: "KK has always thought about you. She has told me more than once that you are amazing. Considering our many friendships, you should go and see her."
Martin nodded and asked, "She's in New York?"
Angela smiled shyly, "I won't be in New York for a few days. I'll call you then."
Martin replied, "Yes."
Angela glanced at Alexandra and Catherine, who were deliberately keeping their distance, and said, "Have a nice evening."
Martin couldn't help but laugh: "I'm filming at a studio in Brooklyn. You're welcome to visit the set. I'll treat you to some local delicacies."
Angela thought of something and said, "It's been a long time since I've tasted your special cuisine. A biology professor at New York University once said that the special cuisine of energetic people can help women maintain their beauty and health."
Martin asked in surprise, "Is that even a thing?"
"We'll test it out then." Angela quickly left.
Martin returned to Alexandra's side.
The latter asked curiously, "Are you very familiar with the supermodels?"
Martin thought to himself that they were not only very familiar with each other, but he had also talked to these supermodels who frequently participated in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show about the depth of their relationship, and they had also tried to understand each other's strengths and weaknesses on many occasions.
"Leonardo and I are very close friends." He has always been honest: "You should have heard that Leo is very familiar with the supermodel circle. I went with Leo to Heidi Klum and Alessandra Ambrosio's pre-wedding parties, and I'm also quite familiar with people from Victoria's Secret."
Alexandra smiled, and before she could finish, she said, "I originally wanted to pursue a career in modeling, but it wasn't possible when I turned fifteen."
Martin readily agreed and asked, "Why? Your parents don't approve."
Alexandra looked around and, seeing that no one was paying attention, struck a pose with her hands on her chest: "The fashion world doesn't want me."
Catherine was blunt: "The people at the modeling training agency think her breasts are too big."
Martin was momentarily at a loss for words.
Catherine added, "Those ignorant fools don't even realize that Alexandra's breasts are incredibly firm; she can fill out any kind of clothing."
Alexandra feigned annoyance: "Enough, shut up."
Catherine pursed her lips and remained silent.
More people came over to greet Martin, which was inevitable, given his current fame, high recognizability, and significant commercial value.
While Martin walked away to talk to someone, Alexandra said to Catherine, "You're too direct."
"I'm helping you out, you idiot!" Catherine said, feigning concern for her sister. "I'm telling Martin what your greatest strength is, so he'll focus on it! Even the most arrogant boy in school will be smitten if he sees someone your age."
Alexandra said helplessly, "During filming, I even put my arm right on him, but he didn't react at all."
Catherine said, "Are you stupid? Keep it simple, be direct. If you want to sleep with him, just go for it! Once he leaves New York, you'll have a hard time finding another man like him."
She was no pushover either: "If you don't want to sleep, then make room for me. Don't take up space and get in the way."
Alexandra rolled her eyes in exasperation: "You're only 16, 16!"
Catherine scoffed: "So what if you're 16? Does being 16 mean you have no freedom or human rights?"
On the other side, the person who came over to greet Martin was Graham King, a producer who often worked with Scorsese.
Martin had just worked with him on "The Departed" and they were quite familiar with each other.
Graham also introduced Martin to a middle-aged man, saying, "This is Chuck Hogan, a novelist from Boston."
He then looked at Martin: "I don't need to introduce Martin, do I?"
Chuck Hogan stepped forward and shook hands with Martin, saying, "Your performance in The Departed was outstanding. Even as a Bostonian, I felt like you were a true native Bostonian."
Because of Graham, Martin was quite polite: "Because I spent a long time living in Boston, I know it's a city with a long tradition, and many, many moving stories happen there."
Graham said with a smile, "You two don't need to be so polite. Director Scorsese is a good friend of ours."
Martin asked, "I heard that director Scorsese's new project is about to start pre-production?"
"Yeah, your good brother Leo will be in New York soon," Graham said simply. "I came first to prepare. Director Scorsese has very high standards this time, and the preparations may last for a year. Leo is going to be in trouble; he might have to go to a mental hospital to experience life there."
Martin was delighted to hear this: "I'll definitely call Leo when I get back and cheer him on."
Graham laughed and steered the conversation back to Chuck Hogan: "Aren't you promoting a novel? This guy in front of you has the power to get it adapted."
He then told Martin, "Don't let Chuck's lack of fame fool you; he's incredibly talented. In the writing world, some of his works are compared to those of Stephen King."
Chuck modestly replied, "It was just a joke among some friends, nothing to take seriously."
Martin looked at Graham with a puzzled expression. Graham understood and explained, "For the next few years, I'll be overseeing new film projects for Scorsese and assisting him with a Prohibition series for HBO. There simply won't be any time."
Chuck didn't want to put Graham in a difficult position: "Martin, if you have time, could you take a look at my novel? It's about Boston."
Most novelists dream of having their works adapted into films or TV shows.
Putting aside everything else, even if the film and television adaptation is not successful, the novel's sales will still increase significantly, not to mention the related copyright revenue.
Although Martin had never heard of him, given the "Never Ending" that "Dark Area" unearthed, he said earnestly, "I experienced life in Boston and am very interested in the stories of Boston."
Graham patted Chuck on the shoulder: "Hurry up and have someone bring the book over."
Chuck waved to someone behind him, and a man came over carrying a bag and took out a book from it.
It's obvious that this person came prepared to attend the cultural and arts party.
They might also carry books with them and recommend them to suitable people anytime, anywhere.
Chuck handed the novel to Martin, along with his business card, which included his personal contact information and studio address.
Martin then put away the business card and glanced at the novel cover, which was titled "The Thief Prince".
He tried to recall, but couldn't immediately remember a movie with that name.
