Chapter 532 Bewitching Hearts and Purifying Souls
Chapter 532 Bewitching Hearts and Purifying Souls
In the master bedroom on the second floor, Elizabeth Olsen went into the walk-in closet, took out a brand new Briony suit, and handed it to Martin, who followed behind her.
"Do you want me to come with you?" she asked.
The walk-in closet was spacious enough, so Martin changed into his suit in front of the full-length mirror by the door. "You're flying to Europe tomorrow to help your sisters prepare for Milan Fashion Week. Stay home and get some rest tonight."
He put on his suit jacket, and Elizabeth came over to help him put on his bow tie, saying deliberately, "Afraid I'll join Scientology?"
Martin said, "You are the saint of the Cult of Cola, you can't be led astray by Scientology."
"How about I try to brainwash Tom Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes?" Elizabeth was joking, of course, as she pulled out a large suitcase and began packing.
Martin got dressed and put on a Cartier men's watch. Seeing that it was still early, he helped Elizabeth.
As Elizabeth packed her clothes, she said, "I'll be staying in Milan for a while. Oh, and I forgot to tell you, I've invested in my sisters' fashion brand. I'm now the third-largest individual shareholder in 'The Row,' and I'll be busy running around for the brand."
Martin said deliberately, "You're still a little rich girl."
"Your aura surrounds me." Elizabeth turned back, smiling especially sweetly: "Because of you, my boyfriend's endorsement fee is very high."
Martin remembered that the Olsen sisters had a very successful business and said, "Do your sisters still accept investments? I can lend you some money first."
Elizabeth stopped laughing and said seriously, "I'm afraid that if my sisters fail, they won't be able to keep up."
Martin was straightforward: "It's okay, we can repay it in other ways."
Elizabeth laughed again and turned to pack her luggage.
When it was almost time, Martin went downstairs, met up with Bruce and Menez who had come specifically for them, and drove a Cadillac to Tom Cruise's house in Beverly Hills.
The two sides are not far apart, and Tom Cruise's mansion occupies a small hill all by itself.
Under the cover of night, the lights illuminated the entire hilltop.
When the Cadillac arrived at the entrance, Bruce showed his invitation, and security personnel opened the iron gate. The car drove uphill for a few more minutes before arriving at the parking lot.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes came to greet them.
Martin got out of the car accompanied by Bruce and Menez.
Cruise smiled and shook hands with Martin: "It's a bit late, but congratulations on winning the Cannes Best Actor award."
"Thank you." Martin smiled as well. "Tommy, thank you for your help."
Both of them were speaking as Hollywood stars.
Cruise formally introduced his wife, Katie.
Martin also introduced Bruce and Menez.
The two walked together toward the mansion.
There weren't many people at the party tonight, and Tom Cruise introduced Martin to everyone, including some he already knew.
John Travolta, whom I've met at the Cannes Film Festival, and football stars David Beckham and Victoria Beckham.
Even those you don't recognize are big names in the entertainment industry, such as Elvis Presley's daughter, singer Lisa Presley, and young actress Elizabeth Moss, among others.
They are all Scientology members, or members that Scientology wants to develop.
Cruise led the way, heading towards the stairwell.
A middle-aged man, dressed in a gray suit, slowly descended the main staircase leading to the second floor. He had a large nose typical of Jewish people.
The man walked down a step and stopped on the third step, clearly taller than the others, and surveyed the entire living room with a look of superiority.
His gaze finally settled on Martin.
They seemed to be waiting for Martin to come forward.
Martin stopped early and, from seven or eight meters away, slowly and deliberately sized him up.
Cruise sensed something was off and looked at Martin: "Come here, let me introduce you to someone."
Martin remained unmoved.
Having agreed to meet Cruise, Martin naturally made preparations beforehand, knowing who the middle-aged man waiting for him to approach was.
At this moment, he was not a Hollywood star, but the leader of the Coca-Cola Cult.
Of course, Martin's idea wasn't overly complicated.
Isn't it just a matter of showing off? A cult leader with millions of followers isn't afraid of anyone!
The pan-belief of the Cola God Cult is also a belief.
Cruise had no choice but to introduce him: "Martin, this is David Miskevich, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Scientology Technology Center."
Martin nodded slightly.
Menez stepped forward and said, "I am Menez, the High Priest of the Cult of Cola, and this is Martin Davis, the leader of the Cult of Cola."
Cruise then remembered that Martin had another identity.
David Miskevich is the successor to Scientology founder Hubbard. Martin gestured for him to proceed and stepped down the stairs.
Martin walked toward him as well.
The two shook hands at the center of each other's necks, exchanged a few polite words, and then went into the living room together, sitting on two single sofas side by side.
This is a dialogue between two cult leaders.
It has a bit of an armchair theorizing feel to it.
The others took their seats in the surrounding area.
This was not quite what David Miskevich had envisioned; he had originally wanted to recruit a large group.
But the other party made it clear, showing him in a practical manner that the two were equals, both being leaders of their respective religions.
David appears to have excellent personal demeanor and charisma, as if he were a born leader.
But when he spoke, he sounded exactly like a charlatan: "For the past year or so, my soul's energy has been constantly telling me that a Saint Daki, who is very important to the world, has appeared in Los Angeles. He has cleansed evil, but he has also been tainted by it and urgently needs purification."
Martin didn't respond, seemingly not understanding.
David continued, "When Tommy told me about you, I knew that Saint Daki was you. After seeing you today, I am certain that you have been tainted by evil in the process of exorcising it. If you are not purified in time, it will lead to abnormalities in your soul."
In a theistic society, concepts like the soul can be very persuasive.
The CEO said, "Purification will stimulate your soul power, allowing you to achieve sublimation and expand your thoughts to the entire universe. Earth will one day be destroyed, but the sublimation of your soul will allow you to continue to travel the universe after Earth is destroyed."
Those who belong to Scientology, including Tom Cruise, nodded in agreement.
Martin thought to himself, "Is he really that good at bragging? Well then, let's all brag together."
Scientology has been developed over decades and has established a comprehensive theory, which Martin, a poor student, certainly cannot compare to, so he simply borrowed it.
"Thank you for your kindness, but purification is unnecessary," he said calmly. "The Cult of Cola has its own protection."
Martin sat upright, his handsome face exuding maturity, his demeanor calm yet arrogant. In terms of personal appearance alone, he was far superior to David.
He calmly said, "The belief of the Cult of Cola is that at the highest peak of the universe, there is a large palace. The master of the palace is a great god, and under him are twelve righteous gods, each with their own supernatural powers. My soul traveled there and received their recognition and help."
David shook his head: "The power of the world comes from the individual soul. Scientology uses science to purify and activate the flexible power of people, allowing them to realize their self-worth. Tommy is a representative of this."
This is Scientology's biggest promotional tool, and Tom Cruise immediately chimed in: "I suffered from severe dyslexia. After joining Scientology and undergoing purification, my dyslexia was cured without treatment, which is how I became who I am today."
Martin smiled slightly, knowing he couldn't just bluff halfway: "Before I was twenty, I was just an ordinary, no, a very good-looking poor boy in the Atlanta slums, with nothing."
He made up a story: "One day, I dreamed of the Heavenly Venerable. He had two of his righteous gods unlock my talents. One was in charge of art, and the other was good at fighting. From then on, I became exceptionally outstanding in these two areas."
David had read Martin's resume. From a penniless nobody to a top Hollywood star and a national hero in just a few years, it was practically the American Dream.
Why do people from slums who have no education, no skills, and no background achieve such success?
Just because of that good-looking face?
David subconsciously began to believe Martin's words.
Martin continued, "I've faced several deadly threats. The first one seemed to be from students, but they were actually gangsters. In Washington, I encountered Russian spies. Last year, I was attacked by more than a dozen highly trained Russian spies. What became of them? What would happen to a normal person if they encountered them?"
David blinked, somewhat disbelieving, but he felt that Martin's words did make a bit of a point.
Martin said casually, "I've never been a soldier, I haven't had any military training, so why am I this skilled? Because my natural talent for physical combat has been enhanced!"
Tom Cruise and others also felt that Martin's words made some sense.
It would be virtually impossible for an ordinary person to achieve what happened to Martin.
Of course, they will not waver in their beliefs.
But Scientology has been focusing on developing the Beckhams in recent years, which is quite different.
They felt that what Martin said was more reliable than Scientology.
That celestial deity might just be another incarnation of God.
After boasting, Martin stated the facts: "Under normal circumstances, how many years would it take for a sect to develop tens of millions of followers? Scientology took several decades to reach its millions of followers, while the Cult of Colombo was established in less than four years."
David suddenly realized that what he had originally intended as a party to recruit Martin had turned into a debate, and he had been completely defeated.
He wanted to reverse the decline: "Cola Cult is a commercial cult, a kind of pan-belief."
Martin couldn't help but laugh: "If I remember correctly, Tommy introduced you as a board chairman?"
Tom Cruise, a staunch Scientology member, stepped in to defuse the situation: "I've prepared a lavish dinner; shall we go to the banquet hall?"
Martin was the first to stand up: "Perfect timing, I'm a little hungry."
Tom Cruise led everyone into the banquet hall, where Katie Holmes had the servants serve the meal.
David Miskevich has been much calmer this time, no longer constantly trying to purify other people's souls.
After dinner, Martin took the initiative to say goodbye.
The Beckhams then said goodbye and caught up with Martin in the parking lot.
