Chapter 584 Scumbag Quotes

In a break room on set, Charlize took a sip of water and said to Martin, "Someone asked me why I'd associate with a playboy like you?"

"Stir up trouble?" Martin nodded slightly, then asked seriously, "Sally, you mean a verb, right?"

Charlize put down the water, and in a very un-feminine manner, she gave Martin the middle finger: "I told him I want to find and make up for the nine years I lost."

Martin pressed her finger back down: "Him? Keanu Reeves?"

Charlize replied, "It's Keanu." This time she used a different word: "Keanu really doesn't understand why I'm involved with you."

Martin said, "I'll give you a standard answer, because I have strengths: I'm sexy, handsome, gentle, funny, and strong. I can provide you with high emotional value, and no matter how strong your needs are, I can handle it with ease."

Charlize fell silent for a moment, because these were indeed the things she needed, and she had experienced them through Martin, which brought her immense pleasure.

She didn't want to be completely dominated by Martin, even in words. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Is this your latest scumbag quote?"

Martin laughed: "What kind of scumbag quote is that?"

Charlize shrugged, then suddenly asked, "Haven't you thought about finding someone to marry?"

Martin paused slightly and said, "Every relationship between a man and a woman has a wonderful beginning, always the sweetest taste in the relationship, but when it comes to the ultimate question of marriage, it usually turns into a mess."

Charlize had somehow produced a pen and notebook and was scribbling down Martin's words.

Martin didn't stop them, but asked, "Is it necessary?"

Charlize deliberately said, "Write down the 'scumbag quotes' so it'll be easier to spot a scumbag. Maybe I can find true love in the future."

Martin asked, "Sally, are you planning to get married?"

"I never thought about it." Charlize had experienced the most brutal marital wars, and when she was young, she almost became a victim of the war.

Martin's skin was truly thick to an extreme: "Look, I've never thought about marriage, and you don't plan to get married either. We can bring each other the highest emotional value, so isn't it most suitable for us to get together?"

These words were utterly shameless, yet Charlize found herself accepting them so easily. She couldn't help but recall her lines with Martin, saying, "A promiscuous woman is paired with a scumbag."

Martin then added, "Forever and ever."

The assistant director then came over and told the two to get ready to film.

Martin walked into the set, which was decorated like a library, first, followed by Charlize, who had put on a coat.

David Fincher, sitting behind the director's monitor, slid around along the track and asked, "Should we clear the set?"

The next scene to be filmed is an intense action sequence.

Martin didn't care.

Charlize, who has filmed countless explicit scenes, said, "No need to clear the set, just film normally."

The various departments of the production crew are making final preparations.

Martin asked, "Is there anything I should be aware of?"

"You know my sensitive spots," Charlize said in a low voice. "Don't go for my sensitive spots. We can't just finish filming this scene and then leave the whole crew here to crawl into a trailer."

Martin raised an eyebrow slightly: "I'm one of the crew owners, so if they're told to wait, they have to wait."

Charlize rolled her eyes: "You don't care about your reputation, but I do."

The script supervisor came in front of the camera and clapped the clapperboard; filming began.

A romantic yet fierce battle has begun.

The filming went exceptionally smoothly, with each take being completed in one take.

The photography assistant couldn't help but whisper, "Martin and Charlize seem to be in even better shape."

The director of photography said, "Every day we either tow trucks around the set or practice in the hotel. We're so skilled."

The photography assistant nodded repeatedly, "Yes!" He couldn't help but feel envious, "This is the woman that Hawking couldn't get a date with in countless parallel universes, and Martin just got her like that."

The stylist Theresa, who was nearby, chimed in: "If you have Martin's wealth, physique, looks, fame, and commercial value, you'll have a chance, but the key is that you have Martin's strengths. You need to be able to do certain things and know how to do them. Otherwise, even if you have a one-night stand, there won't be a second night."

The photography assistant asked, "Is that really true?"

Theresa, who was mainly in charge of the women's clothing, smiled and said, "Of course, I heard it from Charlize Theron herself."

Film crews are full of rumors and gossip, both true and false.

A week after filming began, two more lead actresses joined the production.

Léa Seydoux arrived at the film set to report for duty; she will be playing the sister of the male lead, Nick, in the movie.

Another one is the actress who played Nick's mistress.

This person is a client of WMA, and the agent specially brought her over to say hello.

Martin hadn't even seen the person's face clearly when he felt the headlights were blinding.

Léa Seydoux's breasts weren't small, but compared to this girl's, they were only average.

Martin had read the original book, and in Gillian's description of Andy, the mistress, she had an astonishingly large bust.

The girl, wearing a tight jacket and ripped jeans, passed the agent and hurried up to Martin, excitedly saying, "I've finally met you, Master!"

Before Martin could speak, the girl unzipped her jacket, took it off, and revealed a red t-shirt that was pushed up high. The two highest parts of the t-shirt seemed to have strong springs installed, and they popped out with a bang, swaying up and down excitedly.

Martin had never seen such female followers before; if he had, he would certainly have remembered them.

The girl first proved her identity, then introduced herself: "I'm Kate Upton, a small-time model and actress."

The voice wasn't low, and everyone around heard it.

Several photography assistants muttered to themselves, "This is what you call a small-time model or a small-time actress? What, then, is considered a big-time model?"

Martin understood; this was someone from the Cola Cult. He nodded slightly and said, "Hello, Kate."

Kate wasn't very old, but she wasn't the type to be all looks and no brains. Her agent had already given her some pointers before she arrived, and she immediately made her stance clear: "Master, I am your follower. If you need anything or need any instructions in the future, just come to me."

Martin smiled at her and said, "Focus on filming."

Kate replied, "Okay."

The agent who came over later shook hands with Martin: "Do you remember me, Martin?"

Martin said with a smile, "Green, your workstation used to be not far from Thomas's, and we would sometimes get together and chat for a bit."

Green's face lit up with surprise: "Yes, I even got you water and made you coffee."

Martin patted him on the shoulder: "So, I had Thomas give you this opportunity."

This was obviously just polite talk, but Thomas knew what to say.

Martin left quickly.

Green glanced at Kate Upton beside him, pointed to his forehead and eyes: "On set, observe more, think more, and talk less."

Kate Upton nodded repeatedly.

Green added, "Remember! Martin is the key; a single word from him can change your life and your future."

Kate Upton wasn't stupid; she said, "I understand."

Green sighed, "If I had persisted back then, Martin might be my client now."

Thomas's resume wasn't as good as his back then. If he had chosen Martin, Thomas wouldn't have even been a candidate.

Green believed that Thomas's abilities were not much better than his own, and he never actively helped Martin find projects and jobs, doing nothing more than following along like a shadow, yet he became a partner at WMA.

When Martin becomes a superstar, Thomas will inevitably be promoted to senior partner of the company.

Green even believes that sometimes choice is more important than ability.

Martin stood at the edge of the set, watching David Fincher and Charlize direct their scene. The female lead was to smash a glass table and splatter blood on the floor to create a fake crime scene.

Léa Seydoux came up from behind and asked, "You have so many female admirers here?"

Martin said, "Well, what can I do? I'm the cult leader."

Léa Seydoux asked, "Can I join the Cola Cult?"

"Of course, it's just a pan-faith organization," Martin added. "The Cult of Cola is also a platform now; joining it will allow you to meet more people at the gatherings."

Léa Seydoux nodded: "I'll buy the commemorative Coke later and register on the official website."

Martin said, "I'll have someone let you know in advance if we have a gathering in Los Angeles next time."

In the afternoon, the crew moved to areas outside the city for filming.

The quiet little town suddenly erupted in excitement.

It's rare to see a Hollywood film crew shooting on location, and with the names of Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theodore Roosevelt, and David Fincher, the crew was immediately surrounded by media reporters and onlookers as soon as they arrived at the Mississippi River.

For a time, the scene was bustling with noise, as chaotic as a duck farm.

Martin got out of the makeup trailer, his voice growing louder.

"Look here, Martin!"

Martin, we love you!

Then some men shouted, "Charlize Theron, you're my goddess!"

"Marry me, South African diamond!"

There were at least several hundred people surrounding the film set; it was incredibly chaotic.

David Fincher was also at his wits' end, and called over a few assistants: "Go and communicate with the people on site immediately, or we won't be able to work today."

Several assistants and the crew's security personnel were all mobilized to discuss the matter with media reporters, police officers assisting in maintaining order, and onlookers.

In Los Angeles or Atlanta, these things are easily resolved after communication.

The first assistant to return told David Fincher, "There are no problems with the media, but they want us to provide some news."

This is the crew's most common method, and David Fincher nodded: "Okay."

The person who had been in contact with the local police chief returned and said, "Chief Hampton said he couldn't do anything. This isn't Cape Girardeau; it's just a small town. The police station doesn't have many officers. Apart from those who stayed at the station, everyone else has been sent over..."

Martin then walked over, glanced at the men in police uniforms, and said, "The youngest is almost 50 years old."

Several more people returned one after another, but the feedback was not good. Most of these onlookers were just curious and had come spontaneously to watch the filming of the movie or to follow celebrities; they were not organized.

Martin said, "They attacked purely out of curiosity. Once that curiosity is gone, there won't be so many people left."

David Fincher was extremely efficient from the very beginning of filming, planning his work down to each day. He frowned and said, "Is this afternoon just going to be wasted?"

Martin looked around and noticed that most of the onlookers were men, many of whom were quite old. After thinking for a moment, he said, "I have an idea that might work."
