America achieves both fame and fortune
Chapter 601 The Person Has Disappeared
Chapter 601 The Person Has Disappeared
After confirming there were no tails following behind, the three vans drove into a manor. As agreed beforehand, everyone's mobile phones and other electronic devices were stored in a safe and would be retrieved when they left.
There were three villas in the estate. Martin chose the easternmost one and took Marina, Natalia, Svetlana, and Sasha Ruth with him.
Although the Cold War has ended, the more intense struggle between the United States and Russia has only just begun.
Conflicts are not limited to the Middle East and other places, and there are not only proxy wars.
And there's the fierce battle tonight.
An indescribable battle ensued between a scumbag representing America and a frivolous woman representing Russia.
In the end, the bald eagle defeated the polar bear.
At nine o'clock in the morning, Martin woke up from his tangled arms and legs and found that there were only four people left in the room, Marina was missing.
He went to the bathroom to wash up, ignoring the three people who were still asleep due to exhaustion, and got dressed before leaving the room.
There were some faint noises coming from the kitchen.
Martin turned around, stood in front of the marble table, and watched the woman making breakfast.
The food and clothes here were all prepared in advance by Leonardo.
Marina wore a women's casual outfit that accentuated her figure, making her hips and legs look shapely and her figure excellent.
Martin sighed inwardly, thinking that the young Russian girl was like she had been blessed by Venus; her figure and appearance were truly stunning.
Marina seemed to sense something, turned around and saw Martin. She put down her work, stood up on tiptoe and kissed his cheek, saying, "You must be hungry after last night's exertion, right? Breakfast will be ready soon."
Martin patted his stomach: "I am a little hungry."
Marina continued with her work, asking, "Are the three of them still not up?"
"Don't worry about them, let them sleep a little longer." Martin pulled out a chair and sat down at the dining table. "I can't wait to try your cooking."
Marina brought over breakfast, sat opposite Martin, and slid her five snow-white fingers up and down as she asked, "You tried my cooking last night, didn't you?"
The dignified and fresh-faced cook's sudden action gave Martin a strong sense of contrast and stimulation.
Fortunately, he had gone through trials such as Elizabeth's sweetness and wickedness, and Charlize's coldness and passion, so that he could sit and continue eating breakfast instead of "eating" people.
Martin picked up the sandwich, took a bite, savored it, and said, "It tastes very good."
Marina said, "The main reason is that the ingredients here are good; top-quality ingredients will always taste good."
Martin said as he ate, "But even the best ingredients can turn into poison in the hands of some people."
"Looks like you've suffered quite a bit," Marina continued, picking up where Martin left off. "If you like, I can cook for you often in the future."
Martin sensed her underlying meaning and said, "You live in St. Petersburg, which is too cold there. I'm used to the sunshine and warmth of Los Angeles."
Marina laughed and said, "I also like Los Angeles. What actor doesn't want to see Hollywood?"
After finishing his sandwich, Martin picked up a tissue and wiped his hands.
Marina took out her business card and slowly pushed it towards him: "Whenever you want to eat my cooking, just give me a call, and I'll come over no matter how far away it is."
Martin pressed down on the business card and said, half-jokingly, "I can't afford you."
"You don't need to give me money." Marina knew that asking for nothing would only arouse suspicion, so she said, "Martin, can you give me a chance? It doesn't have to be a lead or supporting role, just a role with some weight will do."
Leonardo DiCaprio, the organizer of the party, had promised to give each participant a chance to attend.
Marina had carefully studied the relationship between Martin and Leonardo. As best friends and members of Hollywood's infamous trio of scoundrels, if she brought it up herself, Martin, a man who values brotherhood, would most likely not shift the blame to Leonardo.
Martin put away the business card and said, "I'll have someone call you when the time is right."
Marina made a phone call gesture: "I'll be waiting for your call."
She wasn't in a rush, but rather proceeded slowly, step by step.
Although there was a possibility that a suitable opportunity might not come, Marina was still confident in her charm.
The two chatted for a while, and then the other three came downstairs.
Martin is a man of his word. He promised to give Leonardo a chance, so he didn't bother him. He just asked for the contact information of the other three people.
Natalia and Sasha Ruth want to join the supermodel group, so Martin tells them to call KK or Angela Lindwall to arrange a specific time and place.
Svetlana is now an actress and does not have an agent in the United States.
Martin suggested she contact Thomas, saying it wouldn't be difficult to find her a suitable supporting role through WMA.
Before noon, Bruce drove over in a car. Martin greeted Leonardo and Nicholson, drove the four of them back, and then returned to the hotel to meet up with the crew for the next leg of their promotional and distribution trip.
Back at the hotel, Martin and Bruce packed their luggage, but Nolan and Emma Thomas sent someone to inform them that they would not be leaving for the time being.
Martin was very puzzled and went out to check what was going on. He ran into Ellen Page and asked, "What happened? The tickets were all booked, why the sudden change?"
Ellen Page stayed at the hotel to keep track of the crew's activities. She said, "Tom Hardy is missing. He wasn't here this morning. Everyone thought he went out alone. An hour ago, Michael Caine called him when he still hadn't returned, but he couldn't get through on his phone. Then he contacted director Nolan."
As Martin walked towards the elevator, he asked, "Still no contact?"
Ellen Page followed up: "No, we couldn't get through to his phone. The hotel checked the security footage, and Tom Hardy left the hotel yesterday and hasn't returned."
She thought of another person: "Tom Hardy has a henchman, and Michael Caine knows his phone number, but he can't get through to the henchman either."
The two went downstairs via elevator to the temporary office and meeting room that the film crew had rented in the hotel.
Emma Thomas and Michael Kane kept making phone calls.
Nolan paced back and forth anxiously, a hint of impatience in his expression.
Everyone else kept their distance, afraid of offending the director.
Martin hurried over and asked, "Chris, haven't you found him yet?"
"No." Nolan pointed to the two people on the phone: "We've tried every possible way to contact Tom Hardy, but not only can we not reach him, his agent can't reach him either."
Martin wondered, "How can such a grown person just disappear without a trace?"
Nolan is British, and although his way of thinking differs from that of the traditional British, there are some commonalities: "The security in Paris is terrible, there are robbers everywhere, and I'm worried that Tom Hardy has run into criminals."
Martin nodded and asked, "Did you call the police?"
Nolan said, "We've called the police, but the Paris police haven't arrived yet."
The hotel's security supervisor then knocked on the door and came in, going straight to Nolan and saying, "We've questioned several staff members who were on duty last night, and we can now confirm that Tom Hardy left the hotel yesterday afternoon. He and a British man named Rogers drove out of the parking lot in a silver-grey Citroën."
Upon hearing the name "silver-gray Citroën," Martin recalled the car from last night.
Nolan asked, "Do you have the license plate number?"
The security supervisor read out a series of license plate numbers.
Martin only remembered the license plate number last night, but after struggling with it all night, he couldn't quite recall it. He glanced at Bruce in the back.
Bruce blinked rapidly.
Martin realized that this was the car that had followed them last night.
The officers sent by the Paris police arrived at that moment, and Nolan and the hotel's security supervisor went to greet them.
Seeing that no one was around, Martin asked, "Tom Hardy is following us, he's definitely up to no good. Did you damage that car?"
"No," Bruce was certain of this. "We shook off that car as soon as we left the parking lot."
The two left the meeting room temporarily and found a secluded place to talk.
"Why did they disappear?" Martin couldn't understand. "Did they really run into robbers?"
Bruce said, "The bodyguards saw their car enter the parking lot, but instead of going in, they turned around and followed us."
Martin said softly, "The places we passed through yesterday were all very safe areas in Paris. Normally, even if we encountered a robbery, the robbers would only want money. If they wanted to kill us, it would be a serious case, and the nature of the crime would be completely different."
Bruce added, "Tom Hardy is also a fairly well-known actor."
Martin added, "He was following us, which was a threat to the party..."
He took out his phone and called Leonardo and Nicholson, subtly mentioning the matter, though neither of them knew anything about it.
Bruce pondered for a moment and said, "According to you, Tom Hardy is a threat to the party. If someone doesn't want him to disrupt the party, might they take care of him beforehand?"
Martin recalled something: "I mentioned the silver-gray Citroën in the car."
At this point, a bizarre yet seemingly possible thought suddenly occurred to him, and he immediately looked at Bruce.
Bruce had the same thought.
The two looked at each other in bewilderment.
This is absolutely infuriating!
Martin scratched his head and said uncertainly, "Was there really a swallow in that car yesterday?"
Bruce also found it absurd, spreading his hands and saying, "It can't be a crow."
Once this idea takes hold, it's hard to stop.
Martin, who had been involved with too many people and already suffered from persecution complex, found the idea increasingly plausible and asked, "Old Brooks, of those women last night, who do you think is most likely to be Swallow?"
Bruce shook his head directly: "I've never dealt with Yanzi before, so I don't know what kind of people they are. I only glanced at those people last night, and I couldn't tell anything about them."
He cautioned, "If it were a highly trained 'swallow,' it would be difficult to distinguish Anna Chapman, whom the FBI arrested last month. The records released by the FBI show that they monitored her for a full six months without making a single mistake. If the FBI hadn't set a trap, they still wouldn't have been able to obtain any concrete evidence."
Martin frowned. "Are there security cameras on the bus?" He slapped his forehead. "I told you to turn them all off."
